My one and only personal ghost experience has been like one John Kretzer experienced; the phantom cat.

I would climb into bed, and a few minutes later, there would be the sensation of a cat jumping from the floor onto the mattress, walking over my leg. It would then knead the blanket between my knees, and then curl up to sleep. Sometimes it would purr...

I sometimes have the opposite effect. I'm sitting in a chair and suddenly realize that there's a cat in my lap and I'm petting him/her. I have no memory of the cat actually jumping into my lap.

The only conclusion one can reasonably draw is remarkably simple...

Cats can teleport.

I didn't have a Phantom Cat instance but I remember something distinctly when I was younger, around 6 or so, and we lived in an old 2-story farmhouse in South Jersey. I woke up one night, looked across my room and saw my Lion piggy-bank(Cartoony character, not a realistic lion) climb down off of my dresser, using the handles of the drawers to climb down. I was terrified and it felt like my throat was paralyzed and my body refused to move. I could hear it coming across the wooden floor to my bed. I felt the pull of the covers at my feet where it had grabbed them and started pulling itself up onto my bed. Then I heard the sound of ceramic tinking against my footboard as it hauled itself up and I finally was able to scream and I continued until my mother and father were both in the room holding me as I cried hysterically. They asked me what was wrong and when I could speak enough I said "my lion-bank was coming to get me..." they looked at my dresser and didn't see it then they looked around the room. It was lying on floor by the foot of my bed.
I slept with them for several weeks after that. I had several weird things happen in that house while we lived there but nothing that was so real and that stuck with me in such detail. I don't know if it was a creative nightmare or something else but I am open to the possibilities...

My father passed away this march from Pancreatic cancer. He had MS for many years and spent his last days drugged and bed ridden.

I went down to check on him in the morning, the down stairs where he was at look into the yard with large glass doors. The hospice he lived with kept them spotless.

I went down about an hour later and he was gone.

I went outside to have a smoke and closed the door behind me. I needed to fortify myself for telling my sister and my dads third wife.

It could have been the tears, the exhaustion or any number of things but when I looked up, he was there.

A reflection in the glass, standing tall as I'd not seen in decades. Tall, powerful, strong. An iron man, fit and mighty, hands on his hips.

He smiled, the same one I've seen for years. It was a sheepish grin, his way of saying, I did it again Scott, you gotta clean this up, I'm sorry I love you. thank you.

Then he was gone.

So, yeah, I've seen a ghost.

Shadow Lodge

When I was 8 or so I was laying in bed under the blankets with a flashlight playing with those little toy plastic Indians (like the classic army green soldiers). I was laying on my stomach when I could hear a drum noise that sounded far away but it started getting louder. I was scared to come out from under the covers. I buried my head in my pillow and at some point I couldn't tell if I was hearing drums or if it was my heart beating. Just then I heard some sort of wind instrument like a flute or something softly playing from my bedroom door. I took the covers off my head and turned to look at the door and I could see the silhouette of a man standing in the doorway to my room. I tried to move but I couldn't. I was paralyzed. Also, I could feel something pressed down on my back. I remember being more terrified than I had every been in my life. The music continued to play and got louder and louder. I could tell from the silhouette that the man was the source of the music but I couldn't figure out what was on my back and why I couldn't move. Finally something snapped and I started screaming. Before I knew I could see my father burst through were the silhouette once stood in the doorway and the pressure on my back was gone and I could move again.

For years I was terrified that whenever I heard my beating heart that I would summon this shadowy man to me. Looking back, I recognize that I probably suffered some form of sleep paralysis as my experience sort of hits all of the red flags. I must have fallen asleep while playing with my toys.

I explain it away in my rationality as I must have dreamed it after messing with my Lion-bank and leaving it on the floor and my dream used that....but I don't remember messing around with the Lion-bank before and it was always on my dresser, complete with dust-ring around it.

This just happened....

I was going down to have a cig...everyone in the house is a sleep. As I am going down the stairs I hear a woman's voice. Like somebody was watching something on the computer downstairs..I figure my Dad or Mom must be up. As I took another step it stopped...when I reached the bottom of the stairs and looked the computer was not in sleep mode...and no one was there. So I went out to have a my cig...came back in..and started up the stair...as soon as I reached the first landing I heard that voice again...
