Drawing a random card as a reward

When a scenario reward instructs you to draw a random card of some type do you draw from the base box and then select a card of the same level from your class deck like a normal upgrade? Or do you draw a random card of that type from your class deck?

The procedure for earning scenario rewards (or
adventure rewards, or adventure path rewards) follows
the standard rules with one exception: If you are
rewarded with a card from the box, you will instead
take a random card of the same type from your Class
Deck box. The card you take cannot have an adventure
deck number higher than that of the scenario you
completed. For example, if you just completed a scenario
in adventure 2, and the scenario reward was a random
item from the box, you would instead take an item with
an adventure deck number no higher than 2 from your
Class Deck. If you do not have an appropriate item, you
do not gain that reward.

Based on how this reads, it's from your class deck. So for example, the last time I played, I got a random weapon for Wu Shen from the first scenario. I took all of his B and 1 Weapons from his class deck, shuffled them around and drew a dagger, which I promptly put back into the class deck.

Joshua has done what was intended!

Thank you. Thats what we did but we wern't sure.

What about when it the reward doesn't say random? I think 0-2D says to draw a blessing from the box. Is this random still? Or do we select?

By default, drawing from the box is random, so it has to specify otherwise if it needs an exception.

Drawing a random card from the box is my least favorite reward. It sucks beating an Adventure 4 scenario and randomly drawing a Spell B, Basic even. This happened playing 1-4C I believe this past weekend.

1-4C gives out 3 loot cards _and_ a random card for each player. The random cards are a known small chance to get something good. For a full table, relatively often someone will get something. (There's a previous thread where we talked through and did the math on it)

That said, you may notice that Season of the Runelords has adopted a new style of doing the random card that can often result in a 2nd upgrade still.

I've never actually found myself feeling like I couldn't get the upgrades I wanted from my class deck, though. Between acquires, randoms, and loots I usually just want 1 or 2 cards to maximize the set.

Did you remove all the Basics (except BotG) from Adventure 3 onward? That's a possible way of preparing the box.

Interesting loophole. The GAME box can have Basics removed, and if you need cards to rebuild your deck (due to banished cards or card feats), you are no longer held by the Basics-first rule as of Adventure 3, however, there's nothing that says your deck box has basics (and eventually elites) removed. RAW, my interpretations is Not Allowed.

I meant the game box, not your class deck box. I was for some reason going off of Keith's Season of the Runelords deck upgrade scheme and failed to notice that the OP was probably not in Season of the Runelords.

Correct. There's even a Vic post confirming that, but I'm too lazy to get the link. Basics/Elites are never removed from the class deck box.

I think it is this.

Or this one...

Man. That link I gave was something I'd copied like 6 hours ago. I guess it was still on my clipboard. Ah well. Yeah, that is the one I meant to link.

:-) I figured it was something like that. I do that all the time in my personal messages.

I do the same thing in large backbone routers on a major ISP's network. Fortunately, caused a problem one, and it only cost us... er... Hamburg...
