Leave us not forget about First Mate Roper and Chief Bosun Furley, always making assumptions about what's going on.

I think the problem is that they're all fighting over who is the 'first mate.'

I don't really see the problem either.

Are these female characters played by female players or male players? Because if it's the latter, then you might have greater odds of annoying problems.

Immediately start referring to them as your "Harem". . .

In band, the clarinet section is all female with a male section leader, so we often refer to them as his Harem.

It's made even funnier with the addition that one of them is his sister.

I predict a potion of gender swapping in your future.

Why is everybody assuming there is going to be any kind of romantic/sexual tension/escapades, or that it's even desired by anybody involved?

that's not uncommon in harem animes,

It's the OP who put up this thread as a distress call, so you should ask HIM.

I am very confused.

I think this thread needs a link to the most relevant rules thread.

Anyway, shouldn't be a problem. One man, eight women, so we know who Roger the Cabin Boy is...

i may have missed the answer, but are you the only male IRL of all the players?

Nobody has answered this question:

Is it eight women players, or eight women PCs?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I don't see any problems with this, women are people too, so why does it matter than the other 7.. or 6 now? people are women. They could easily sate themselves with other crew mates, people from other ships, and themselves if you're talking about sexually, and not all women care for romantic s@#%.. and who says they aren't lesbian and only want the other women playing..
OP is making this more a problem than it is i think.

Just what we need, yet another thread poster who continues the trope that gamers are all boys who go "squick" when dealing with the female gender.

So, the PCs are 8 Women, and the Players are 5 of undetermined gender?

Sounds like my Sword art game party:

All female, played by all females, sometimes with a male npc.

A lot of jokes, implied lesbianism, but no harem.

Their actions did help to create other harem parties though. Thanks to adventurer's guild they founded (mostly with women-adventurers as the main members), the men involved would often be paired with the otherwise female parties. This did become a bit noteworthy, with many romances (and +4 to sexual tension across the guild).

Unless the OP, or other players, or DM, are somehow confused, frightened, angered, or nervous of people, or even PCs, of the female gender, then there should be no problem.

If so, then this game is the least of their problems.

Okay, character lineup is,
An NPC Female Human Samurai
An NPC Female Dwarf Rogue
An NPC Female Ifrit Sorcerer
An NPC Female Naga Ninja
A PC Female Human Oracle
A PC Female Ratfolk Monk
A PC Female Teifling ??? (Player hasn't revealed their class)
A PC Female Gillman Rogue (currently in the belly of a giant fish)
And myself, a PC Male Dhampir(looks half-elf) Warblade/Swordsage

The GM is a guy, as for players, three of us are guys, two are girls

As for if this could be an issue.....
In our little group, we're all major Anime fans, so sexual encounters, awkward positions/situations, and sexual escapades in character are VERY common place, sometimes embarrassingly so. :/
Honestly though, the sexcapades aren't the issue, I'm mostly worried about us falling into a Harem campaign were all the girls start fighting. That'd be, just a little awkward.

Soooo, act like adults and don't do that.

If you're a Dhampir just start wearing body glitter and act moody, that ought to solve the problem.

I don't think the harem idea is exactly counteracted by the mix of exotic races. XD
I suggest you just be frank. Put it on the table and say "if we're going to do this, I want to know now that we aren't going to make it awkward."

Or, alternately, if the characters are OK with polygamy(nothing says they can't be. Maybe you can decide it's normal where they're from) "ladies, there is plenty of me to go around."

I mean, if this could be an issue, just have the back story make it a nonissue.

Why does additional female PCs mean the game will suddenly shift to "sexy adventures"?

That is just as likely to happen with a group of any ratio of male/female adventurers.

Hell, you could all be male Spartan soldiers, and the hot and heavy nights would be beyond number.

That make me question my idea for a Greek Hoplite Hobgoblin with the Leadership feat.....

The comment about falling into a harem campaign was a joke...

The most epic fighting force to have ever existed was composed entirely of homosexual male couples. They were chosen specifically because they were both highly skilled, and highly gay, and were encouraged to love each other; and that bond gave them a morale edge that just refused to break, even when they were eventually slain to the last without surrender; and the commander of their enemy army wept at their death after their display of valor and unity, and demanded that no ill be said of them.

So...yeah! :D

Now I'm imagining the party running up against a group of these guys.

GM: Make a Knowledge Local check
Player: Rolls high enough
GM: Yeah these guys are Spartans, very elite, you also know that they're almost all gay.
Player: HA!!! Gay guys can't fight for crud!!
*one very short combat later*
GM: *snickering*
Player: .............

Actually, I'm talking about the Sacred Band of Thebes, who actually defeated the spartans and was a military force composed of 300 men, or more appropriately, 150 gay couples, with older/younger pairing being the standard. Yep, they crushed the Spartans.

And being gay was part of the strategy. It was their love that ensured that they wouldn't break and abandon their fellows. It was their fighting to protect their love. It was their fighting to show off to their love. They fought as a lover would for their other.

As a fun exercise, the next time you hear someone talking about gay marriage rights, just think that gay couples whipped the snot out of the guys Master Chief is named after. ^_^

Do we REALLY wish to tempt their wrath!? ಠ_ಠ

I remember in Spoony's Counter Monkey: Theives City videos, there was a group of horsemen in the setting that were like that. Gay couples that were all like, 10th level mounted fighters. *shudder*

Wow, Fighters? Lame. :(

Admittedly, there was a Sacred Bander prestige class in the Thieves' World campaign setting, so I think most of them had at least one level in it.

Shadow Lodge

I bet a campaign journal of this game would be very popular

If I could draw I want to do the campaign as a comic, but my drawing skills are, lacking >.<

Shadow Lodge

Welp im good with vectors, i can do oots level of drawing with ilustrator at least

1 person marked this as a favorite.

That doesn't stop some people. Why let it stop you?

Shadow Lodge

The oots guy specifically did stick figures because he lacked drawing skills :)

[Archer Face]

OP, do you want to get Smug Bear'd?

Because that's how you get Smug Bear'd.

Wait, all those crazy races, and you don't have a catgirl? Blasphemy!

On the other hand, you have a... ratgirl?
