Most outlandish thing you would play as?

So what IS that one idea you have, that nobody else in their right mind would ever play

For me, it'd be a sentient helicopter (Gyrocopter) with loads of splash weapons and launching crossbows. He'd have a single dip in synthesist to be able to hide his true helicopter nature. because nobody would ever accept him

I have tried on several occasions to play Kerpca basically a squirrel. One DM I had in 3.5 made a go at the race. He thought it worked best as tiny and allowed it to be pretty fast. I never got to use it cause the campaign fell apart.

One of the other players was a very strong Goliath. My plan was to run around for one round around enemies with rope and then end the round handing the rope to the Goliath and yelling "pull."

Awakened Owlbear Wizard...

What a fun thread idea!

I mentioned this recently. The most outlandish? Probably not, no. But it certainly ranks up there as "unlikely to ever see play" for many reasons.

It's something I've wanted to for quit

To re-post:

Me, over there! wrote:

A first level lich (actually a multifaceted undead, but mostly a lich).

The story was something I've had bouncing around since 3E, and an April Fools story about Dave the Lich.

The story!:
The idea is that a group of NPC-classed fellows went on an adventure way over their CR in the nearby mountains, and all but one (well, all but two*) of them ended up surviving.
The following is from memory (instead of a detailed look at my notes):

During their foray (over time) into the depths of the mountain cave (where the wicked necromancer was in the process of becoming a lich), the caster was infected with ghoul fever and had his strength drained by a shadow (actually I've subsequently checked, and this part didn't happen), his constitution by a vampire's bite; he was kept alive only by the one magical device the group had between them, a magical amulet that augmented constitution. When they confronted the would-be lich at the pentultimate moment in the ritual, the adept was finally killed by the touch of a wraith... freeing his soul to be bound in the phylactery instead of the necromancer.

With the competing agency of a bunch of undead trying to turn him into their kind, the adept comes back as a ghost instead, the necromancer is killed (though the warrior loses an arm for drama), and through a... um... cluster... uh... integrated bodily function... of possession, ends up shoved back into his own soul.

The three survivors - an expert suffering from swamp fever, a one-armed warrior, and a wounded aristocrat - were horrified and ran away from something horrifying in the darkness. It wasn't until they got to the edge of the cave that dawn and saw that it was their friend (also running terrified of whatever it was with his friends - that they realized that he was still alive... or rather, undead.

Although he was paralyzed and nearly destroyed by the sunlight (a combination of the weaknesses of vampires, specters, ghosts, etc.) he was saved by one of his friends recognizing the problem and shoving him back into the cave.

They discussed things, realized he wasn't evil - just cursed and undead - and they said their fair-wells, all achieving second level, while the adept retained his first level (and becoming a 1st level wizard instead of a 2nd level adept - I'd flavored his spells being in a book he carried around to prepare from).

He made peace with his phylactery - I think it was animated, or a golem or something? - and sent it away in peace.

He then becomes an adventurer (at night, naturally) for goodness.

Anyway, metric ton of weaknesses, a few nifty abilities, and hypothetical immortality.

Not really a surprise I've never been allowed to play it.

Still something I've always wanted to do, though.

* But really, going into details would be just too long.

A Spoony Bard! (play the rhythm with your hands!)

an anti-paladin, that, get this, isn't chaotic evil.

though, one of my player's currently is playing as "theoretically" a familiar of a horse. This was because he was riding the horse when it killed everything in the first encounter and so it leveled up and became a wizard(not really, the player is actually a wizard pretending to be a fighter, and is using the horse as cover).

I already did play the most outlandish things with RIFTS...guess most outlandish things in Pathfinder:

was always curious in playing an actual Saiyan , yeah the race from Dragon Ball in a dnd like setting and see how that would go.

gain 5 negative levels if your tail gets cut off...

A sentient nanomachine colony that generally maintains a humanoid form, but can reshape body parts into weapons and equipment.

The character would begin tabula rasa, no skills, knowledge, or identity, and would develop through interactions with the party and the world. Essentially they'd begin as completely childlike, but mature through the game experiences.

Imagine learning proper behaviour, social skills, and morality from a typical adventuring party.

Spoiler:
Somewhat inspired by Emeralda from Xenogears

A bard whose performance is with spoons and the ssoundgardensong: spoon man

I have played strange things in the past and I really cant see or imagine something that is too outlandish. If the game is right.

honestly, I want to play an AI, like the kind that doesn't in general have it's own 'body".

a Nanite infused Cyborg Loligoth Nymph Magical Girl with a constant craving for sweets.

Don't know if it counts but as a DM I had a BBEG who was an albino drow necromancer lich defiler. If not the most outlandish, certainly the longest title.

Just team up with a Knife Master and someone wielding a Fighter's Fork, and you're all set!

This is acceptable only if he continually uses spoonerisms.

I have had several characters play the spoons. Usually cause they enjoy a performance rather than primary performance.

Awakened Monkey Gunslinger, Awakened Gorilla Barbarian, Awakened Sloth Monk. I'm pretty tame.

I once played a sentient skeleton. In life he had been a necromancer who tried to become a lich; the process failed catastrophically and he ended up as a skeleton with only vague memories of his past.

In a 3.5 game I played a Yuan-ti Abomination Wizard-Priest of Merrshaulk.

I played a 3.5 Forgotten Realms Barbarian/Bear Warrior/Frost Rager; this meant that when I raged I turned into an Ice-covered Dire Bear with ~700 hp.

It was a champions game and I played a man sized amoeba from the Andromeda galaxy who had high strength, mental powers and speech impediment (he was new on earth and spoke by vibrating his outer membrane, and hadn't quite got the hang of it).

I don't think I could go much further than that.

An awakened monkey gunslinger.

Everything is better with monkeys.

Your plan usually is not really thought out well if it involves giving the monkey a gun.

.....and beat by Barathos.

Tapping 3.5 some more...

A sentient Living Spell from Eberron, possibly with the ability to add more spells to my essence as I leveled up or something (I wasn't entirely sure). Especially illusion and enchantment effects.
"I punch him!"
"He likes it and is now your new best friend!"

A therianthropic were dire polarbear who's 'were' side gains the spirit animal template (from Frostburn, as opposed to the Telthor template from Unapproachable East), the shade template (from Forgotten Realms) and the shadow creature template (from Manual of the Planes) - the ability to shift into an enormous incorporeal shadowy spirit that does a metric ton of non-lethal damage and has tremendous senses, movement options, and other nifty abilities has always been a dream.
- My "base form" would be a commoner of some sort (likely a human). :D

a sentient lolimental

essentially an awakened small elemental with a youthful anthropomorphic figure and usually fire or air

Edit: It's Donkey Kong if it's not obvious

I'm currently playing a Vanara gunslinger (musket master). Does that count?

His personality is based on an 18-19th century British big game hunter in the African colonies. Except we're playing in Golarion; so instead he's a hunter and hunting guide for the Mwangi Expanse.

Outlandish things I have played in the past:

- Nanite infused Cowboy robot who used to sit at the campfire drinking molten lead, while his buddies drank coffee.

- A blind warrior woman (One of those on the Rifts cover). A genetically modified fighter who uses psionic senses instead of normal sight.

- A kind of alien child. The parents of that race are more or less god-like. But the children, who "only" have some temporal manipulation powers can be played.

- A spirit who had possessed a cat's body and by that could interact with the physical world.

- The most outlandish thing I've played in PF was a strong half-orc earth wizard with a pig familiar. He pretended to be a peasant, wearing peasant clothes, a straw-hat and always had a straw in his mouth. In combat he used his flail unless there was some serious threat. Then he used his acid cloud school power or cast spells.

I had one player come to a session and request to play a 'lesbian vampire warrior princess pirate captain with a peg leg and three pet monkeys."

After unpacking all of that, I asked 'and what race was this vampire before turning?"

"Dwarf."

Normally I would have called BS, but this came from one of my best role players... so I told him to play it (with restrictions for balance, etc). Still, one of the funniest things I've seen in gaming, I tell you.

Oooh, just had a fun thought, Play a summoner with a doll eidolon, something along the lines of Chachazero from Negima. Just totally insane evil doll, or at least it acts like it.

3.5: A legless Halfling Reaping Mauler that rides in the backpack of a Goliath who uses said Halfling as a living missile of grapply death. Out of combat he would just annoyingly offer suggestion on how to do stuff that he knew nothign about. And prcatice Tumbling and Balance.

I love this idea, I really do, and would watch the f~$& out of a game session with him in it.

Just to see how long he would last, a gnome or halfling fighter with a strength score of 5 (-3) in full plate and two weapon fighting with daggers.

Thanks! I think it would be epically fun but possibly etically wrong. But just the picture of a goliath throwing basically a flesh boulder with arms and a head which then puts someone in an armbar is hilarious. :)

Android alchemist with a tumor familiar and Improved Familiar to gain a lightning elemental that is literally the electric charge keeping her going. Leaps out and zaps people. Jolts back in to keep the nanites flowing.

...I don't play in Golarion. I probably got all that wrong.

A half-dragon (red), half-fiendish, Element-infused (air), lycanthropic Kobold Expert who plays the straight-man.

His story below.

TL;DR:
Born into a normal human family, John was raised as a mild-mannered fellow and became an accountant. An unfortunate accident involving Krunch (Frenzied Berserker) and a flaming weapon resulted in his office, himself, and all the William wizard's investment records going up in smoke. William tried speak with dead and divination but the truth was only John the Accountant knew where all Wizard William's money really was, so he contracted Dan the Drunken Druid to reincarnate John so John could get his affairs back in order. Dan spilled mead on the altar stone and slurred the incantation badly enough that instead of being reincarnated in a fresh and magically-created body his soul was pulled into the prime and attached to the nearest sapient newborn which was a long way away because Dan operates in the middle of nowhere.

At this time, Malysgoroth the Red was watching with baited breath as the egg she had been incubating for the last year hatched, and out came her firstborn spawn, a half-breed child sired by her deadbeat baby-daddy Biff the Fiendish Kobold Bard. Biff had seduced her with his silver tongue and penchant for creatively entertaining evil, but had left her when she revealed she was knocked up. She loved her bastard child and raised him to lead her tribe of kobold slaves as his foggy human memories and personality reemerged and melded with his new body and conjoined soul.

Jh'on (his new name for his new personhood) did not become their leader, but he did become their accountant, and with his skill at investment and accounting he made Malygoroth the Red and the Redscale Tribe of kobolds the richest business conglomerate on the continent. He was just about to engage in the arduous task of tracking down his deadbeat dad when things took another turn.

At this point, Wizard William had written off his lost riches, unable to find the accountant or his soul (since it was different now) and was seeking new moneys. A rising monster empire of business, trade, and monstering was rising to the south, and it was ruled by a mighty Red Dragon with a large hoard of riches and a large horde of minions. So William took his band of high-level adventurers, including Krunch and Dan, and struck out to "get some phat lootz."

Their initial successes in murder were soon met with assassination attempts, and worse still they found little treasure to be had as most of Red Inc.'s money was reinvested into the business. "Where are the stacks of gold and piles of gems?!" William would cry. So William's group decided to use divination on their enemy and found the most valuable treasure in Malys' empire was not money or magic, but a single person who would be easy to take hostage.

The assault was easy enough, and soon Krunch had Jh'on by the throat once more, and Jh'on's attempt at biting the hand that gripped him had merely damaged the angry killer's ring. Malys was stymied because they had her dearly-loved son. She relented, but payment would take weeks to draw from her accounts and from selling off minor businesses, so William ordered Krunch to stash their "valuable pawn somewhere "safe. Krunch, being an idiot, left Jh'on with his tribe, where he was promptly infected with lycanthropy.

At the final exchange, Jh'on was handed over to Malysgoroth and a giant sack of platinum and gems was handed to William, and everything was just about okay when the Trap the Soul spell that William had carved onto Jh'on's torso activated. Final revenge for making "the untouchable trio" wait for their payday. They cackled and high-fived before Dan cast a spell that would banish the "abomination" from this realm. Spilling wine on the components (again), the spell went awry and instead of banishing Jh'on to hell it sent him to the elemental plane of air, and the energies that moved him also converted him, infusing him with the essence of what seemed to be his new home for eternity. Jh'on was left alone and broken by the people who had destroyed his life twice.

Memory is a funny thing, especially when you're an air-infused, half-demon, half-dragon, half-kobold werewolf with a soul forged of a kobold and a dead human stapled together. It was at this low point that Jh'on fully remembered John, and remembered where the backup records of William's lost accounts were; right here on the plane of air. He struck out for this flying fortress of accounting majesty, and after many adventures found the ledger of all William's hidden bolt-holes and hideaways. It was time for a roarding rampage of adventurous revenge, and he had a roadmap.
