The hunter's nature training seems to be an empty ability that does nothing at the moment. Or did I miss something?
A hunter counts her total hunter level as both druid levels and ranger levels for the purpose of qualifying for feats, traits, and options that modify or improve an animal companion.
All the ranger or druid feats and traits I know of only change favored enemy or wild shape. Not the animal companion. You would think that there would be at least one of it in a new book introducing such an ability.
Did I miss any trait or feat or is it really just there in case some time in the future there might be something? And empty page count until then?
So, they can take the Monstrous Mount feat?
Sable Company Marine feat?
Even Monstrous Mount isn't accessible through this. Hunter's Bond is the prerequisite for it. Sable Company Marine, on the other hand, requires a ranger level.
So... there's one feat you can access through this at least.
"Options" could also apply to favored class bonuses which you only get one of. With this feat your ranger or druid levels would also get the FCB if it contributed to improving an animal companion if you were to multiclass.
You mean that if I'm a ranger with favored class ranger and then multiclass into hunter I'd still get my ranger favored class bonus? That would be neat, if there is a good FCB that somehow applies to the AC.
@BBT: The monstrous mount feat only needs an effective druid level of 4 for the AC. And all classes getting an AC have an effective class level.
But the sable company marine is one I missed that the hunter really could not take without nature magic.
