Wondering where to spend that first, free 1,000 xp? The following is an all-around good build that will help you maximize your efficiency for the first few hours in PFO. You can check the list out here in the 'Starting XP' tab. This build requires no Achievements, so you can purchase it within the first few minutes of logging in.
Here are a few notes:
1. Mage or Scholar Armour feat? "I don't want to play a Wizard," you say. Yes, but those Peasant's Clothes you are wearing have the Keyword 'Clothing', which will match with these feats and grant bonuses that will make the first few hours much easier. For 8xp (4.8 minutes to earn), you really cannot go wrong.
1a. With Mage you will gain:
Physical Resistance +5, HP +25, Power +40, Fort Def +1, Reflex Def +2, Will Def +2, as well as a few other perks.
1b. With Scholar you will gain:
Speed +1%, Arcana/ Dungeoneering/ Geography/ History/ Local/ Nature/ Planes/ Survival +4 each, HP +25, Power +40, Fort Def +1, Reflex Def +1, Will Def +3, as well as a few other perks.
2. Heavy Melee Attack Bonus Feat. Again, even if you intend to play a Wizard, this feat will help with that gorgeous club you will be holding for the next few hours. +4 Bonus with Heavy Melee weapons for 36xp (21.6 minutes).
3. You have enough XP for one (1) armour OR weapon proficiency, and one (1) implement proficiency. I recommend getting an implement proficiency because that will also open up the ability to learn a Utility Feat.
4. Why no Attack Feats? Well, because you only have so much xp to spend at first, and you already know all the basic attacks to go with any weapon you find.
Conclusion: Yes, you will be spending xp on feats that you won't be using for very long, and may never use them ever again! If you are only interested in building the perfect PVP warrior in the fastest time possible, these tips are not for you. If, however, you are alright with a character who will be 26.4 minutes behind in training time, try this build!

I can definately stand behind the idea of opening up a few a skills/feats for so little xp, just for some utility even though you do not plan to take it any further.
I found a Spell: Endure Elements, and decided to use it myself on my Bow specced Fighter. To see if it would protect me against those Ogre shamans with their frosty spells. So I trained the skill that lets you use a Holy Symbol for a few xp, learned the spell and can now crank up my resist against Fire, COld and Electricity with 12 points.
Unfortunately, about half of the duration that the buff lasts is taken up by some weird animationlock, when I try to fire off my bow attacks. There is a bar counting down *after* the buff-animation and application of the buff, which prevents you from doing anything: when you try a bow attack, your character enters the "stunned" pose. Takes forever, and once the bar is gone, your char has to go through the animation of firing his bow, before the target finally starts losing hitpoints. So not really had a chance to try this out on ogre shamans yet.
The animationlocks and switching between weapons is horrible to be honest, takes forever to go from bow to Sword and board, I hope this gets looked at.
My lesser Inflict spell is better, fire almost instant and does not have the count down bar. Melee only, but a nice alternative for switching to sword because that takes forever. Off coourse it takes 10 Power, so can not use it forever.

Seeming as you are wearing them for the first hour or two whats 4.8 minutes to make better use of them. Seems a good suggestion.
Though there is the possibility in 8 years time when you show someone your character they will say "you lied, you said this was an optimised power build and you wasted 4.8 minutes right here on this clothing feat" :D

You know what the difference is between you and me? I make this look GOOD.

It has also been pointed out that Wizards and Clerics do not automagically have basic attack feats for Wands, Staffs, or Focuses.
If you are VERY adamant about not using any physical attacks, I would suggest forgoing the Heavy Melee and Utility feats: that will free 160xp from the build, which is almost enough for 2 Cantrips or 2 Orisons (81ea =162xp).

the cleric one is pretty nice, if that's what you mean.

@Dazyk,
First, thanks for creating this, very helpful.
Second, sorry in advance for all the questions and extra work. :)
Third, I am coming from the perspective that this is a standalone file that is for new players and not someone who is already invested into forums, spreadsheets, guides, and wikis. The more it can stand on its own, and help the newbie learn, the better in my view.
Here we go:
1- I would recommend adding a "Read Me" tab with the following : contact information, overview of purpose of file, links to references, and a link to Paizo thread for questions/comments.
2- I hope you don't mind if I recommend adding other peoples stuff to your document, because I will make it that much easier to use and not have to duplicate work/have to many screens open.
3- Tab "Keywords":
A10: Add References links to :
4- Tab "Skills & Abilities":
Thank you for making easy to understand.
A- Do all of the skills increase their associated ability scores when you take them?
B- Do you get increase right away, or only at rank 5?
C- Can you see how many ability points it increases, if any? Ryan posted some new info on the Alpha forums yesterday on this (sorry, don't have links on hand).
For example, if I take Sawyer, Smelter, Tanner, Miner or Carpenter, then ALL contribute to raising my Constitution score? If yes, how much?
5- Tab "Effects-States":
You mention resisted by "Freedom" and "Mind Blank", if these are covered by the Fighter Bravery feat, a mention on this tab would be great! (As in, YO FIGHTERS, LOOK AT WHAT BRAVERY DOES, you dig. You know those nasty wolves that make your life miserable? Fight back with this!)
6- Tab "HUD Icons" if you can add the hex type icons found on the left upper 1/3 of the mini map, that would be really nice.
7- Tab "Starting XP":
-Recommend inserting a new line at top and naming the table Independent Cold Start XP or similar, that way you can create a new tab for Settlement Cold Start XP which is a similar table, but works on the premise that you are not alone and your settlement will provided you with Tier 1 gear, basic role items, recommendations, and get you off your feet quickly, thus the recommendations are modified accordingly.
-B2: Has Mage or Scholar*; what is the "*" for, it's not detailed below the table.
-B8,B9,B10: Recommends any defensive, but doesn't point me (the newbie) as to which makes sense. There are 5 to choose from, and I can only slot 3! Help! Help! :)
-B13, B14, B17: As above, there are more options than slots available. Perhaps add some links in column E to direct the new player to where he/she can learn more?
That's if for now. Hope this helps in someway... :)

This spreadsheet was originally create as a direct answer to the common questions that many people were raising about the game in the two forums, and as such it was never really intended to be an all-encompassing guide.
Also, it was created under the assumption that most who were referencing it would also be familiar with Nihimon's spreadsheets; therefore, they would know how to find the answers to specific questions (like, "how much does my STR increase when I buy Armorsmith 5") but NOT the answer to "what crafting skills should I purchase if I want to raise my STR Ability Score".
Finally, while I agree that a little more info would be nice in the Quick Reference file, my REAL goal these last few weeks has been getting the Wiki up and running, and I feel strongly that my time and energy would be better served there.
Once the Wiki is serviceable we won't have to mess around with multiple spreadsheets and going back and forth to two different forums. All the information that you will need will be in one convenient place!

If it takes you a few hours to get your desired armor and weapon type then you're doing it wrong. Try checking the local AH, and if it's not there then head on over to Thornkeep.
It should take no more than 30 minutes of farming goblins outside town to get the coin you need. That is if you don't get lucky and have the armor itself drop.
Also if you want to use a wand, focus object, or shortbow as one of your weapons then there are NPCs near the wizard, rogue, and cleric trainers that can hook you up for free.

Telling people that they are playing the game 'wrong' is not very constructive. There is NO right or wrong way to play.
For some, it may take several hours to get starting gear, as they also explore the world. Others may not want to spend coin at the AH to get gear, instead wanting to find it themselves, or save their coin for some specific reason.
Please remember that not everyone is coming to this game with a goal of being a min/max machine; some may just want to play the game for fun.

I find using armor proficiency and the first keyword/armor type an easy and understandable way to introduce newcomers to the concept of keyword matching. Definitely worth few minutes of xp. But lots of people, including quite a few from Kabal :P are giving away armor to newcomers, so if they have a role in mind, could adjust proficiency recommendation.

Understood. You did ask for feedback though.I look forward to your work on the wiki, I am still going to use your file for a reference. :)

Update:
Since Dazyk is not focusing his energies on expanding on this initial work (as he is focusing on PFO Wiki), I am working on expanding on his starting XP table to cover more options. I will first wait for the next Alpha build and Developer spreadsheets to be released, but here is a draft of what I have in mind; with the goal of making this info available on the PFO Wiki before EE starts:
1000 XP EE Cold Start; Independent
-Generalist Build
-By Role (Generalist)
-By Role (Specialist/using a "build")
1000 XP EE Cold Start; Settlement Backed
-Generalist Build
-By Role (Generalist)
-By Role (Specialist/using a "build")
Will also include information on skills, feats (Weapons, Armor, Reactive, Defensive..), role feature slots, weapon & attack combos (with recommendations for slots 1-3 & 4-6) and starting weapons/armor (from goblin farming and Tier 1 crafters).
The idea is to give brand new players an idea of how to get their PC going in the first few hours and levels, and help to understand how all the subsystems tie into each other.

I'd break out a section for each weapon's feats, and how well they synergies with class feats.
Some weapon feat combos work very well at starter level and ar worth training even if you later discard them and never use them again.
Examples:
First few hours:
Free Shortbow + Distant shot - for 35m range with no armor
Free Wand + Mage Resistance - for 2 rounds of survivability with no armor
First day or so:
Staff plus Wilting Surge - for killing low level mobs at 35m en masse
Longbow with halfdraw - taking out harder monsters with low skills

I'd break out a section for each weapon's feats, and how well they synergies with class feats.
I have two or three threads on this kind of topic, and very little response/ feedback.
The in game and 3rd party weapon information is hard to understand , especially with all the combat subsystems this game has.
However, I will try again on my next day off (Thursday).

Will be getting back to working on this sort of information soon. Will need quite a bit of help from others for the wiki though, particularly for Crafting and Refining stuff.
Also, Sspitfire's new guide is a pretty good way for new people to start out (even though he stole my Mage Feat idea) ;)
We definitely need more ppl pushing out guides and other info for the game.
