See, and raise: F5, F5.

I see your puny 1 key F5's and raise you a mighty 2 key Command-R

Goblin Squad Member

I'm all in. *holds down F5*

EDIT: hot damn it worked

...who will have access to Zog...

All hail Zog!

(with apologies to H.W. Longfellow)

I pressed F5 on the blog, right there,
It refreshed a page, I knew not where;
For, the one I wanted changed not at all
And responded not to my desperate call.

I pressed F5 on the blog, right there,
It refreshed a page, I knew not where;
For who's so keen of sight and thought,
That they perceive what's not yet wrought?

Long later on in a tab forgotten
I found the page, still misbegotten;
And post that lead me, to the empty page,
Failed my curiosity to assuage.

I am glad you are all taking the time to make the EE launch as great (and stable) as it can be. Two questions with the extension to October:

Will Destiny's Twins be available?
When will small holdings be available and usable?

Early Enrollment Begins on October 23rd

Thank you!!! This makes me feel a lot better.

Having a 4 week stress test is also an awesome way to go :)

This shows that yall are learning from your recent experiences in making optimistic plans and then having the coding powers that be smash them to itty-bitty pieces. Always nice to see :)

Get some good rest!

And I think four weeks of around alpha access is an excellent compensation for the delay. Thanks for working so hard to make it good.

Excellent... we're in our slow season by late October, so the office won't miss me for a while!

"We're deeply appreciative of the support the community has shown over the past several weeks as we've moved through the end stages of Alpha Testing. We know that it is frustrating to be expecting to start play on a certain date and then have the game release be rescheduled."

I totally back your decision. The game desserves a good start.

Banking and auction houses tomorrow, instead of EE? That's still a great step forward for the game!

For next week's blog, if it can be simplified enough for a general audience, I'd love to hear what made the banking and transaction system such a bear to implement.

We are rescheduling the start of Early Enrollment for Thursday October 30th.

Good news in my book.

We need to pull back from that pace for a bit to give them time to catch up on sleep and depressurize which is why we're extending our release date 4 weeks and not 2 weeks.

Many thanks to the team for the hard work. I am having fun in Alpha thus far. Banks and AH will be major improvements which i will enjoy very much.

When the marketplace opens tomorrow, will we have any "suggested retail prices", or will the market run wild until the invisible hand stabilizes its gyrations?

More generally, will there be a "Riding the gravy train" (or "Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash")* blog tomorrow?

*In the spirit of the old musically-titled blogs.

I think that a wild start is fine. Running the market for 4 weeks will give us a better appreciation of where prices could/should be at EE start and how they'll change over time.

No fixed prices. We wouldn't even know what to do.

But wait until you see the Auctions. They're not what you will be used to. We'll post something more about this tomorrow.

Think this is a positive delay. I'd say I feel a lot happier with this decision, my antennae are less twitchy already! :)

Well thank goodness! My starting +1 soldier's scale is not a total waste at 6 days to cook!

Scarab Sages Goblin Squad Member

Auctions? "Going once, going twice, sold!", kind of auctions? I'll bet there are bunches of ways those could be run differently than previous MMOs have handled them. For quite a while now, auction houses in most MMOs have been more like stores than genuine auctions. Tomorrow should be a neat blog.

Smart decision and I agree with it. Definitely don't want team exhausted going into first week of EE. Your desire to get things up and running this month was palpable and I'm sure this was a difficult decision. I feel so strongly that you are making the right choices with the long term viability of the game at heart, I'm going to show my support by purchasing a Base Camp from the Goblinworks store. Have you thought about making a way for people to buy more game time in advance to add to whatever Kickstarter time they may already have? It could be another way for people to show support.

Hell yeah! Now I can learn a bunch of the recipes I was gonna ditch, and get +1 or +2 gear to see what difference they make!

Wait, did the rooted ranged/recipe/crafting update already come out?

I think that's part of tomorrow's update, too.

I had thought so, but I wondered if I missed something cuz it wasn't mentioned. I was thinking, "Wow, I should have played instead of waiting."

Sounds like a good decision all the way around

Right thing to do! Goblinworks has my support more than ever now.

This is the right decision and kudos to you and the team for taking it. The game is close - but there are some issues that need ironing out. This will give you the time doing this and also tackle any unforseen issues if the stress test turns out to hamper your server.

The stress test needs to run perfectly smooth - I know of several people who have alpha but never tried so far beyond a five minute dip in as they are waiting.

Goblin Squad Member

I'm confident that this is the right decision but...i'm a bit disappointed indeed :\ The EE was due to start in July..and now it'll start, maybe, in November...

Keep up the good work...we'll keep the fingers crossed!

Goblin Squad Member

I think it's important to feedback to GW devs our responses. My clear response is this seems unequivocally the most sustainable and productive choice to make from the various impressions I'm privy to about PFO's requirements to hit MVP in sufficient quality for EE day 1.

A few questions on the timeline for various things.

Base Camps / Smallholdings: Originally planned for about a month after EE was to start. Is this pushed back by an equal amount of time as EE?

Destiny's Twin: Any way we can have this implemented for the new EE start date? (Even if the method is limiting everyone without DT to 1 character and everyone with DT to 2 characters with xp starting as soon as one character is made.)

Additional characters training: When can we expect to be able to pay to have more characters training at the same time on the same account?

New Player packs, Class Packs, etc.: As these probably won't be of much use, especially the New Player packs, after a week or so.

For reference for others reading this a reminder of what we have been told about the new timeline.

EE = Oct 30th
War of Towers = Nov 13th (2 weeks after EE starts)
PvP related upgrades (like looting) = Somewhere from the start of EE to Start of War of Towers
Bank and AH = Today!

Goblin Squad Member

Ditto to Drake's questions. I'd like to see the class and new player packs in particular, since they'll be most useful when I'm starting the game.

Goblin Squad Member

Thank you for all your hard work. From a player's perspective the decision to delay EE was definitely the correct one.

When things get hectic try to remember that it is not a sprint but a marathon. Make sure you all take enough time off to look after yourself and your families while pouring your hearts and souls to this game.
