Server going Off-Line for Maintenance

Pathfinder Online

CEO, Goblinworks

We are going to take the server completely off-line and when we do we're going to shut down one of the physical servers. The result will be that some hexes will become unavailable. Those hexes will be in a vertical strip in the North East corner of the map.

If you have a character in one of those Hexes, you will not be able to log into it until we have brought that server back on-line in a day or two.

Wow. Something big must have happened? Let the rampant speculation begin! :)

@GW, I hope everything gets resolved soon and that you guys can catch a break soon and get some needed rest!

I speculate that Pharasma is in a snit.

Nothing big happened. Last night there was some kind of hiccup, and this is just a way to reboot everything and get it back to a stable condition.

Sounds like a hardware issue with one of the physical servers that needs to be fixed. I'm guessing the "day or two" delay is because a part needs to be shipped in.

OK back in.

... and got my very first Silver Bar queued up.

Is this what is causing the problem with logins all together?

Yes, I think it may have been.

Taylor reports that if you were in a hex, and that hex crashed, your character could not log in. He's restarted all the hexes so everyone should be able to log in. (He even got the hexes in the NE corner back on line too!)

Thats good to hear, I will try it out tonight.

I will say this though, I had two characters standing next to each other in Thornkeep. I could log one in but not the other. I had both logged in and did a trade, logged one off, then the other. When I came back (10 minutes or so) and logged in, I could only get one. (maybe on a hex border but cant be sure)

Just an FYI in case the problem comes up again.

Probably not, I'm thinking. I usually get a system message saying something to the effect of "Trades are not allowed near hex borders" when I try to trade near a hex border. If you were standing where you traded when you logged out, I expect there was some other cause.

Yep, agreed. Have had the same messages.

Extra thanks for Taylor, too!

You need to find out who put the huge electro-magnets near the servers. That should stop that kind of thing in the future. :-)

So did anyone else see Scorpion last night? ;-)

More likely red bull ;)

Or, as we say at work, someone knocked the server over.

Time to feed the hamsters

This reminds me of the reboot from Jurassic Park original movie and Ryan D. is playing the role of Samuel L. Jackson.
