Well if you look at the profile, Slarus has a good bit of fluff added. Still mentally figuring out his background past his childhood. But he currently has three persona's or identities if you will. So got that part done already. ;)
Sense I am going for a doctor strange type, I would say Slarus is a underpowered version but otherwise pretty close IMHO. Sense Dr. Strange is basically an insanely powered spellcaster. xP
Concerning the origin and nemesis. Could you give an example or reference? Or define more in what your looking for? Really it can go a lot of ways so would like to narrow it down a bit. Is the nemesis end game or stepping stone for one thing, do they show up often or rarely, etc etc.
As for the build, personally I can't give you an informed answer. I don't know what your going to do. Depends what your going for and how much wiggle room you want to give us.

Someone should poke Jelani about this change then, as he only dropped due to the specific campaign setting. I was withholding posting due to having not played the first 2 books, so if you're switching to a different campaign then I guess I'm in. I've been considering a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Dr Jekyll, obviously going investigator.

I was thinking some super hero archetype packages might be a cool way to do it. High point buy, around level 5.
For example off the top of my head Utility Belt, Tech Guy,Mutant etc.
Utility Belt might start with 5x normal wealth by level or something. Defined by his equipment.
Tech guy get's access to high tech weapons and armor from the technology guide free or at reduced prices. Defined by the high tech nature of his gear.
Mutant gets the mutant template or a pool of eidolon evolution points that they can apply to their character.
Stuff like that, that would make the characters feel different from the world around them..ya know, "super".
Sukrai |
Personally I'd prefer for level 6, but that's just me. A single Mythic tier looks to be a street level superhero in line with the likes of Robin, whereas a mythic tier of ten or higher would be Batman level.
A character like Beast Boy would be a mythic tier 1 Druid for example, whereas Batman would be a lvl 10 Monk/Rogue Mythic tier 5+.
So the question is how Super do you want your superheros?
Ashe |
Yeah Joker was what I was thinking. Though Batman has many villians as most of the superhero's do. Joker is not physically weak but batman would overwhelm him normally. I think the joker may be a monk/alchemist he seems to come up with bombs and gasses and other things he brews up.
Human Dual Talented
Monk MoMS, Kata Master, Sacred Mountain 2, Alchemist Mindchemist 3
Mythic: Trickster Dual Path Archmage
Path ability: Enduring Armor
(w/ Mutagen)
AC: 23(26)
(+4armor,+4(+6)Wis,+1(+3)Nat, +4(+3)Dex
Str 10, Dex 18, Con 14, Int 14, Wis 18, Cha 14
Gear:
AoMF Guided
Belt of Dex
Headband Wis
Probably take the crane style feats, they counter pummeling style. Batman would need to use trips to overwhelm him in physical combat. Very ruough draft. What do you guys think.
Slarus Leroung |
In terms of superhero rankings, objectively, I would put superman as a mythic tier 10. Batman would be mythic tier 1 maybe 2. You have to look at personal abilities rather then effectiveness. Batman has a nearly limitless personal fortune and ability to use that fortune in his duties effectively and creatively. But in the end he is just a highly trained, driven, and adaptable man with a lot of money. Superman on the other hand is simply godlike, his personal abilities are the source of everything. Granted there are times where it is not enough or he has loss them. But those instances are few and in the end it is his abilities as a whole that see him through most if not all challenges. They are his primary strength as opposed to batman's cunning being his.
Also would like to point out we are not making pathfinder clones of superhero's. At least I don't think we are, correct me if I'm mistaken. So those superhero rankings are baseline rather then goals. Some hero's will be easier to mimic then others, does not mean we should stop them there. True hero's never stop growing, nor do villains it seems. ;)
@Ashe
Personally I see the joker as a cunning madman. He is not a fighter, not that he is utterly lacking in that area just that it's not his bag. That being said a pure alchemist would fit more in my opinion. He uses bombs, poisons, toxins, traps, and his cunning for everything. Flees when those fail or fighting as a last resort when foiled. It is his moral disregard and dirty tactics that see him one up the batman in combat, not any sort of direct ability which is why he gets beaten senseless by the bat when those prove unviable. Just my 2c. xP
Ashe |
I agree, but as you said he is not lacking there. That is why I took the approach of the guided weapon and him having the monk level to help his AC. I mean most villains and supes don't where much armor. I guess you could consider the batsuit leather. I like Heath Ledgers Joker in the second movie. He showed moments of being physical killing the guy with the pencil then using his bomb as a threat to get out of the room.

OK. My primary concern is power level and balance within the party, which is why I'm hesitant to include templates and non-Paizo material.
As to Jelani's utility belt example, I could see that built as an Alchemist or as a spell-caster using Silent Spell on everything. The utility belt would be a spell component pouch that needs a hand to open and launch.
I could see increasing the point buy to 30 and level to 7th, but that's the boundary of my comfort zone, at the moment.
Nemesis are not necessarily as limited in game mechanics as PCs. Having a 1st level noble with tremendous wealth would also present problems. I'm more interested in nemesis descriptions to drive my non-AP story and encounters.
I'm equally ignorant of Absalom as Korvosa. If anyone else has strong opinions, please share.
Another wild idea incoming: if we have too many interested players for the core team, I would be open to recruiting some players to run the nemesis. The downside of that for nemesis players is that they are not in the spotlight like the PCs, so it can be boring.
As we're brainstorming here, my current tentative campaign start is that a big bad has recruited the PCs' nemesis and started to unfold the diabolical plan. The PCs must band together to hope to overcome. Something like that.
cheers
Slarus Leroung |
If you don't like templates and such, you could create custom boons for each PC. That way you don't have to worry about the power level sense you control it.
I am fine with any increase or not.
I will have to start organizing her story, but for the record my nemesis was always a female half succubus witch who worships Calistria. Everything else is up in the air. Ah hell has no fury like a complex girl scorned. xP
If I had to choose between the two I would pick Absalom. Personally I think it has so much more to offer as a city. It's got just about everything, good deal bigger, much more cultural diversity, and a larger pool of powerful (both personally and politically) people to draw from so we don't grow into a group of big fish in a small pond.
Why do I get a legion of doom vs justice league showdown feel. ;)
Sukrai |
Point buy to 30 is too much in my mind, and level 7 may be a little high to start. I'd say stick with 25 point buy, as that's plenty high for stats, and level 6 as the most for starting. One mythic tier and we're good to go!
I'm debating either a Robin-esque hero, that focuses on mobility and multiple strikes, or a Todd McFarlane Anti-Spawn-style Hellknight warpriest.
Rednal |
Level 7 may be a good plan - that's a point when more abilities and options tend to be unlocked for classes, and let's not forget that it's the point right after E6 rules, and so could work very well to signify someone who's truly become a step above the crowd (without being TOTALLY overpowered).
Aside from that, I'm thinking of an Arcanist with the Perfect Preparation mythic ability. The type of guy who studies his foes and tries to get the right combination of spell to defeat them - but may have trouble with someone personally resistant to magic, or who has ways of disrupting arcane energies and stopping them from working correctly.
Jubal Breakbottle |
So who's still interested? We're still at Korvosa with 25pt, 5th level, 1 mythic.
Rednal - wants 7th level
Ashe - Batman
Sukrai - Robin wants 6th level
Slarus - Dr. Strange wants Absalom
D-Kal - Holmes/Jekyll
Jelani - Green Arrow (wishful thinking)
Cosmic Dream Lord
Gnomezrule - Daredevil wants Korvosa
Grey, the lady's dog
Numair -
Skorn - Ironman
Dark Netwerk - Gambit
Alec Ritous - Spiderman
Xeno the black widow - black widow
Did I miss anyone? Does anyone else have an opinion about Korvosa with 25pt, 5th level, 1 mythic.
cheers
PS For game mechanics that go well with masks:
* Swashbuckler (Mysterious Avenger)
* Witch (Scarred Witch Doctor)
* Inquisitor (Infiltrator)

I have a question. In the Advanced Class Guide they published brawler and the archetype sacred fist. It gives your wisdom to AC as an extraordinary ability. Then monk gives you wisdom to AC as a supernatural bonus. Currently, as per RAW, they stack (for the likes of Pathfinder Society etc). Would you allow that to run in your game? If so, I totally want to play a rip off of the green arrow. Except more based off the Arrow TV series. He'd be a sacred fist of probably Abadar mixed with zen archer monk.
Not to be a party pooper, but I dont think this works. I say this due to this quote from James Jacobs on the use of Weapon Finesse and Furys Fall to add dex to Trip CMB twice.
If you adjust your CMB and/or CMD with an ability modifier... that's that. You can't do that more than once. Something like the Weapon Finesse/Fury's Fall combo is a pretty specific corner case, but they do not stack together. By the same extension, if you're a Tiny creature (and thus automatically add your Dex to attacks instead of Strength) you don't really have a use for either feat–you're already adding your Dex.
Not the same instance of stacking, I know, but it seems like the whole same stat to the same stat deal isnt intended to work. Make of it what you will, what matters is what the DM says.
Oh, and just to not make this post be ONLY about my pathological need to "correct" people, this is a dot for interest.
Im contemplating some kind of big angry guy.

Yes, my current campaign is in its Michael Bay ending. We've still got a couple of RL weeks due to the complexity of the encounter.
Can someone really interested in this campaign maintain the Interested list that I posted earlier and preferences. I think we're still building to 25pts/5th/1 tier. It's easier to add than subtract. Korvosa and Absolom appear tied.
cheers
Sukrai |
We're still at Korvosa with 25pt, 5th level, 1 mythic.
Rednal - wants 7th level
Ashe - Batman
Sukrai - Robin/3 Musketeers wants 6th level, leaning towards Korvosa.
Slarus - Dr. Strange wants Absalom
D-Kal - Holmes/Jekyll
Jelani - Green Arrow (wishful thinking)
Cosmic Dream Lord
Gnomezrule - Daredevil wants Korvosa
Grey, the lady's dog
Numair -
Skorn - Ironman
Dark Netwerk - Gambit
Xeno the black widow - black widow

People saying that the wisdome doesn't stack are offering their opinion. As of right now they stack in society. Mike Brock made a disgruntle post stating this and that society may change this if a FAQ does not. James Jacobs said he wouldn't let it stack in his game he didn't say that it did or didn't stack as he does not like to be quoted when it comes to rules. There are a couple threads trying to get it FAQ'ed the main one has over 200 FAQ request and 400 post. We have to wait and see. So it is up to DM but RAW now for society is they stack.
Jubal Breakbottle |
We're still a few weeks away from the end of my other campaign. To keep this interest alive, I was thinking about starting the background building and turn into a popularity contest.
PITCH
Each player submits the background of their masked hero. Key ingredients include the following:
* Description of their character before the transition to masked hero
* Explanation of why their character became a masked hero
* Description of key antagonists with whom the masked hero has had conflict
* Description of key allies with whom the masked hero associates or protects
CHARACTER ASSUMPTIONS
* Races are Paizo Core or Featured
* Power level = 5 levels of classes and 1 mythic tier
* Finish with the masked hero patrolling Absalom
CONTEST RULES
* Every player who has submitted a masked hero receives three distinct votes, for their favorite, second and third
* Once everyone has voted (or whenever I count the vote) the player with the fewest points (i.e. favorite =1 point) is triumphant with the best background
* I reserve the right to call the vote whenever, but I will give you 3 days of warning
POST MECHANICS
* Please spoiler your post to avoid walls of text
* Internal monologue is italicized
* Dialogue is "bold-faced and within quotations"
PERSONAL PREFERENCES
* Spelling and grammar count. However, please identify if your native language is not English
* Quality wins over quantity
Did I miss anything? Everyone still interested?
Gobo Horde |
So here is my first and main idea.
Go human illusionist wizard (mage of the veil) with the "no one of consequense" mythic path ability and either the mythic spellcasting or flexible counterspell abilities.
Main annoyance is that you have to be a trickster instead of archmage :(
He is the hidden hero. No one knows his face, no one remembers who he is. He walks into the bad guys hideout and retrieves the stolen goods, then walks out in full daylight, and yet, no one can seem to remember exactly who he was...
He is the innocent bystander, watching the fight between heroes and villans, the thug on the side on the street whos sharpening his knife, the sidekick to the villan who he didnt actually remember having...
The other thing he will focus on is illusions and some battlefield control. If he were on his own, it should never come to combat, but if he is with a group of allies, he would support them by masking their presence or altering the terran to better suit their needs.

Part one is here! Not the finished version, but it's a start until I get the next part completed!
As a foreigner child in the streets of aristocratic Taldor, Maleera had little choice but to try and find some kind of work, and wound up having to do odd jobs for one of Godfried's 'friends' in the markets. The conditions were far from ideal, and the Alley lord of the area was harsher than she'd thought. When she back-talked to him about what he did, the man, Kalris by name, would give her lashings from his belt before throwing her out, only to demand that she go to work again for him in order to eat. This became even worse when he found out that the 'devil-worshipping child' had told one of the guards about another of his enforcers, causing them to investigate Kalris's business.
Maleera had made her 'home' in an abandoned temple of sorts to Iomadae, where she prayed for either the goddess or even the dark god her parents had worshipped to help her out of her current existence. Perhaps it was this duality that kept her prayers from being answered, maybe not, but one thing was certain, what happened after she had sold out Kalris was seen by both, and neither were apparently all that pleased. Kalris had called in a friend of his to get rid of the girl without leaving any evidence, and the man apparently took quite a bit of delight in his job.
The man's name was Beliros, a follower and summoner of demons who fed his victims to his 'pets'. The man's sneering face was covered in tattoos of otherworldly origins, and his bald head had a set of claw marks as well, neither of which drew much attention away from the burning orange eyes he had. When he found the girl hiding in the old church, the man toyed with her, his creatures taking snips and slashes at her in order to try and get her to scream out, to break her into a sobbing mess. As Beliros was laughing, she once again prayed, this time not for freedom, but for strength to forge her own path, for the ability to see justice done. Whether it was this shifting of focus from passive begging to self-determination, or the summoning of demons within a sacred place, something heard. Her palms burned with gold, red and black flames, and as one of the demons looked on, a silvery rapier appeared in the girl's hands. Screaming with determination, she plunged the weapon into the Dretch's skull once, twice, three times, sending it back into the Abyss. When Beliros saw that the girl was not willing to go done without a fight, and apparently being backed by some kind of power, he retreated, leaving the girl alone in the ruins with nothing but a sword in her hand...
After that incident, Kalris was arrested and thrown into prison, though Beliros remained at large. Rather than be sent off to a convent however, Maleera made her way towards Absalom, where she felt she could find a new life... one where she could live up to her ideals, and maybe make a difference...
