Looking for gm and players for Rise of the Runelords

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 66 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

The Morphling just started this campaign and at least a few of us who did not get selected are interested in filling out a group and getting a gm for it and a couple of players to fill out the group.

Currently the party would be:
Jessica DuMorne cleric (ecclesitheurge) of Shelyn
Tal Darkariel wizard
Kiley Sherrow barbarian

The build rules and such wold be up to what ever gm we can find for it, but the three of us were built with a 20pt buy.

The Exchange

I'd be interested in getting in on this as a Rogue if that's okay.

Liberty's Edge

Want a bard? I can make a bard...

The Exchange

When these characters were built what were the racial rules. I was thinking of something from the Featured races.

These were the build restrictions that we followed, there were other house rules that I am not as worried about though I am not sure on Tal and Kiley's opinions, I'd definitely leave those up to whatever gm we can find.

Character Creation - Restrictions:
- 1st level
- Max HP for 1st level, half+1 for each other level
- Paizo material only (no 3rd party)
- Races: Core races (but no gnomes). More exotic races are allowed but will be under increased scrutiny (and I will be unlikely to select more than one of these)
- Classes: Anything Paizo official is fine except Synthesist and Master Summoner.
- Alignment: Any non-evil.
- No firearms
- 20 pt. buy
- 200 gp to start
- 2 traits
- You may take up to one drawback if you would like a third trait.

I personally have no issue with them, we already have an aasimar for this, again, it is up to who ever is willing to gm this.

*Edit
Go ahead and set up a proposal using the above guidelines and I will discuss it with the other two if they want to have any input on it. Definitely a bard or rogue would be good, another melee/ranged type would be good since my cleric is not able to handle melee combat at all due to her archetype.

This is Kiley's player. I'm fine with having different rules and such. I can rebuild her pretty quickly at need, one of the advantages of having HeroLab.

I'd be interested, if a GM can be found. Tal has worked with me before (note, wouldn't be Svalk, would want to make a new guy for this) so he can vouch for my posting rates and style.

Only question I have on the startup rules is the "no-gnomes" bit. Do you still need that one or can it go by the wayside?

Still interested if we can find a gm.

The no gnomes can go by the wayside as far as I am concerned, that was something specific to the other gm who did not care for them. I like 'em as I have seen some really fun gnomes played on occasion.

I'd be okay with this character (with some obvious changes) if you would be willing to have an aasimar ranger. Won't be able to make changes for a few more days (out of town), but the background won't change. I've really been trying to get this character into a Rise game for the longest time.

Have any of the players played this AP before?

Sovereign Court

Hardest part will be finding a willing Gm. And hi guys :).

@ Satinder I like that story, very nice, I'd be happy to have ya in the group.

@ Branding Opportunity Nope, not me at least.

@ other applicants
I am good with any of the above myself. Tal and Kiley are welcome to weigh in as they like on the matter.

Hmm, I might be willing to GM, but would rather run something else. How do folks feel about the Emerald Spire?

As far as with this particular character, I don't know, got rather wrapped up in rp leading into Runelords with her and don't know that I could easily change her over at this point and enjoy playing her, at least not for a while. With something else, I might. The two on the top of my list just now are Runelords and Reign of Winter but from reading the Emerald Spire blurb it sounds somewhat interesting though it screams dungeon crawl to me which are not the kind of thing I enjoy as much.

Sovereign Court

Already started on emeral spire myself :(. Would also love a jade regent though.
For the gm it is important to run something he likes. Otherwise they just quit ;).

I would like to join as a half elf ranger if that is all right. For rise of the runelords, I mean.

You've just caught my attention

Grand Lodge

Sorry, I needed to change my message board name. Imma horse is now kuson valor.

Jade Regent intrigues me and I think I could pull of using Jessica for it since I believe it starts in the same place.

Something else I forgot to add before was an "after dark" skulls and shackles. Did not quite make the cut on the last one that got put together over on RPoL and have a character I would love to run for that.

Whoops, kuson is now the flame..... sorry 4 sudden changes

oh, it's not just a dungeon crawl; it's an an uber gimmicky dungeon crawl, but heavily storied. There's lots of potential character drama and interaction.

hmmm...I think I might be interested.

I'd be willing to try it I think with a different character.

Silver Crusade

I'd be interested but not with the char I submitted for the RotR game. Rather I'd make a Skoan-Quah Shoanti Shaman using the Speaker for the Past archetype.

I made this character specifically for Morphs camp. I would have made a gnome otherwise. LOL.

The other ROTRL campaign recruitment ended abruptly otherwise i would have submitted him there too. I have no idea what Emerald Spire is so I am really hoping for a ROTRL cause I have never run through it.

I am GMing this, and I would start another game if I thought I could handle it. (Four games seems to be my limit.)

I would be willing to pick up this game. I currently have a PM sent out to one of the 'set'PC's, so the jury is out on them. Currently, we have 3 set player characters, with 2 slots available (definitely need a skills person, the other can be whatever). Possibly a 3rd slot opening up, pending response from said PM.

Creation Rules:

20 pt buy
-Average starting gold by class.
-Start at level 1, of course.
-Max HP at level 1, half + 1 for additional levels.
-No evil.
-Core races only. (Kiley, you would have to re-race your barbarian, unfortunately)
-2 traits. Possibly a 3rd trait with a drawback, pending my approval (to ensure you don't take a lame drawback that will never come up).
-Classes from Core, Ultimate Magic, Advanced Players, or Advanced Class accepted (No gunslingers, master summoners, or synthesists).

That being said, there are additional requirements:

-Ability to post daily, including weekends. Stuff comes up, so just keep me informed so we can figure out how to progress in your absence.
-Be respectful to me. If I make a call you disagree with, feel free to let me know in the Discussion forum (as long as we don't progress to rules lawyering) or via PM. I am very open to criticism, but once I make my call, it is final.
-I respect Rules as Intended over Rules as Written. So no rage cycling or early entry into Prestige Classes or any other clever ideas you might come up with that skirt the spirit of things.
-Be respectful to your fellows. If you want to play a crass fellow who hasn't a care in the world, that's fine, but you better make sure your fellow players have a motivation to continue to want you in their company. Otherwise, we might be looking for another player.
-Combat will be handled on a block basis. I will roll initiatives for different sets of enemies (minions will go together, but the boss gets a separate roll, for example). My intention is for combat to be exciting and fun, not a two week long test of patience. So please adhere to the posting schedule, or you will find that I take your actions for you.

I will look for input from the 'set' PC's on who they would like, or who would gel well with them. We'll close this by this time tomorrow, I'm thinking. Those who have already submitted, please resubmit so I can get good clean hits as of my post. Feel free to change your concept, as well.

If you're willing to run Rise of the Runelords, I'm happy to bow out of the search. I've run it before, and don't really feel the need to run it again.

The Exchange

I would be interested in being the Rogue for the game. I already have some ideas lined up and I was really wanting to play in this Adventure Path since I never got to before.

I think I can manage a build for the random slot. Expect an opening salvo later today/early tomorrow.

I appreciate your consideration Branding, especially when you weren't too keen on it.

You rock Crispy! Thank you for stepping up, I think I just need to adjust starting purchases.

Background:
Kiley was born to a Varisian mother and a Chelish father. Both of her parents were acolytes at the small church and she spent many hours learning about Desna, and the other faiths of Sandpoint from the priests and priestesses there. As she grew older, her faith grew stronger, and she learned more of the conflict between Desna and Lamashtu. She began studying to be an acolyte, like her mother and father when she had just turned 12. Sadly, life took a turn for the worse. The Chopper's murdering spree claimed her father. Then barely a month later, her mother was badly injured in the fire that claimed the church, Father Tobyn, and the rest of northern Sandpoint. A few days later, her mother died from her injuries, leaving Kiley alone and homeless.

Her faith shaken, and her only family gone, she wandered the streets of Sandpoint. She tried to earn her way for a little while, but most nights she went to sleep with an empty stomach. Desperate, hungry, and a little made from grief, she sneaked into the newly opened Rusty Dragon's kitchen and was about to make off with a couple of rolls and scrap of meat when she was caught by Ameiko. Fear, shame, and unresolved grief broke the young girl down and she began to sob and wail into the innkeeper's shoulder. Ameiko took pity on Kiley and offered a place to stay in return for helping where she could. Over the next five years, Kiley learned to cook from Ameiko and hunt from Shalelu. During those trips she learned Goblin, as well as the deep hatred that Shalelu bears towards those little monsters.

Her time alone and on the streets had left her awkward and shy, but she eventually managed to move past the grief that she had held on to for those months. She talked to Father Zantus, Father Tobyn's successor, about her crisis of faith, and soon, even those demons had been laid to rest.

She soon picked up the study of weapons and the forms to master them. Inspired by the Varisian dancers that traveled through Sandpoint she began to develop a style that combined the grace and speed of those dance movements with the power and strength of a two-handed weapon. Her favored weapon became the halberd, and even now she's working on ways to trip her opponents using the spike opposite the blade.

Appearance and personality:
Kiley is short and wiry girl with long, wavy hair and dark eyes. She's what many would call cute, but only an idiot would try anything since her small frame is packed with well toned muscle. Despite the awkwardness she feels, her smiles come easy and when she is in the mood, she can play words like a fiddle. Around people she considers close friends, she is a bit silly.

I'm cool with the rules you posted, though I'll need to double check the equipment. I can make once a day easily, and I would like to think I'm a fair roleplayer.

This is Cade he's a Varisian cleric of Desna. I did not see a deadline for submission so I wanted to get him in now. Given that you listed skilled as your missing link as well as anything else suggests you already have a divine class. A cleric is not necessarily the best 5th wheel. A wider skilled set generalist or a comrade at arms for the melee would be my guess. If there is a longer window I would consider some other options if that would be helpful.

Sovereign Court

Great Crisp!
Will we use this thread or make anew.
Would like to have discussion section up to discuss intersecting backgrounds.

As for fit, it would help me greatly if we get a general idea of the character and which direction he wants to take him (build and rp wise). That way we can mix n match. Atm I think an older wiser character would be a good addition to the group to make it more welrounded. Although playing with naught but pubescent characters could be fun as well ;).

I hate that you often need disable device and thus a rogue. However for me if the skillslot character has a good disable device and perception I will be happy. Can always summon a goat. So things like alchemists can be welcome as well I my perspective.

The Exchange

I'm still working on some background stuff and I basically have a guy who's a monster hunter come to town because he's heard there were monsters to be hunted. The one I think I want to focus on is the Sandpoint Devil (right now at least).

I'm finishing up the stats and items for my guy right now.

Adjusted to the new requirements crispy.

Fluff:
Sten has spent his life getting to this point. His family hold burnt to the ground by ogers. His focused training and his drive to get justice so that no other would have to know that pain. His travel towards Sandpoint as the next possible location of attack. All leading to this point. And what does he find? A festival, a celebration of life as if nothing was wrong with the world. He had lost everything on this road and it is as if the town mocks his dedication with joy, but to be happy for just a little while. It sounds so good.

Sten is a gruff dwarf who clings to his sense of justice and right. He sees giants as the greatest threat to peaceful people and views it as his duty to stamp them out.

From the Emerald Duke, I present the wandering Tien monk, Vivi! Still working on traits, chosen feats, equipment and background. That said, expect those tomorrow (will post them in here once they are updated).

Tal, Kiley, Jessica:
Discussion Thread Feel free to discuss the other candidates and such here. Be kind, as some of them might be your fellow players later.

I am aware of how much I rock, no need to stroke an already huge ego, Jessica. My head wouldn't fit through the door. :)

Hopefully we get some great submissions and have a wonderful game!

The Exchange

Since there's no Ranger or Rogue I decided to go Slayer (if that's okay). It fits the back story I had in mind and I can take a Talent to get Trap-finding back as soon as Talents are available to me.

Here's the guy we're looking at.

Mordecai Tyduk

Backstory:
Mordecai was born of a Chelish mother, Lavnia, and a Garundi father, Oroubu. His parents met when his mother was visiting a Chelish settlement in Northern Garund to establish a trade route with the families there. (The Chelish are there because of the events of the Everwar)

Twenty years later, when Mordecai was elven, his father would die traveling that very trade route to Cheliax to meet with his wife back in her country. Monstrous beasts attacked in the night and Mordecai only survived because they mistook him for dead while they were eating everything they could find among the caravan. He never got a good look at the attackers.

He made it to a nearby village alone and was sent on his way to Westcrown.

Mordecai spent most of his formative years in Westcrown and was raised there by his mother after his father’s death. He became well known for his cheerful disposition, love of strong drink and beautiful women. He also prided himself on the hunt, though it was only wild game at first. He desired something bigger and to make a name for himself.

His mother told his half-sister of a beast that haunts the lands around a tiny town in Varisia as punishment for their abandoning the Cheliax Empire. He bid his sister and mother farewell and traveled to Magnimar where he learned of the supposed whereabouts of the creature, the town of Sandpoint.

Character appearance (This is right out of the new player's guide)

I submited Dalendir to the last RotRL previously mentioned. I think it has an interesting background for the AP. And he can definetely play the trapfinding and skills role (he is a ranger with the trapper archetype) while still be useful at range and melee combat.

Vivi is mostly ready, still working on Equipment though. Backstory is as follows.

Backstory:

Vivi, as he has taken to being called since coming to the West, was born the third son of a merchant family in Xa Hoi. Rather than attempt to raise him, however, they left him in the care of a monastic order.
He was raised by the monks as one of them, and grew in both wisdom and martial strength. He often could be found learning from the older masters, or reading scrolls in the monastary. At age 17 he was formally inducted into the order, receiving brands on his arms.
One year later, however, the monastary was sacked by the new ruler of the provence. Most of his bretheren were slain and he was forced to run. He has spent the last several years on the move as a wandering scribe, having to stay one step ahead of the official spies trying to track him down.
After all, once he dies so does the order.
The last year has been spent in Varisia, studying the land and the customs.

So right now we have:

Delendir the Ranger (Trapper)
Mordecai the Slayer
Vivi the Monk
BoulderShoulder the Paladin

Anyone else?

Liberty's Edge

I might be interested, as I've been wanting to play this AP for quite a while. A couple quick questions:

Are we going to get PFS credit for this (or can we, if that wasn't the original plan - obviously played under the played through with non-PFS characters and rules and applied to different PFS characters)?
How soon do you need my character (I should be able to get it posted by midnight EST tonight)
Are we handling combat completely in the forum or are we using another combat manager (roll20, etc)?

Thanks!

I am interested.

So are there two groups going on then or something?

Timothy, PFS credit is not on the table at this time.

Midnight tonight should be fine.

Cade, sorry to not include you earlier. You had implied you would submit a different character than the cleric.

As far as this '2nd chance' group there is only one table, Satinder. 2 seats available. Current players are fighter, cleric, and wizard.
