This Is Weird But I Need Advice for A Multiclassing Eidolon

Advice

A group of friends and I love strange, off the wall concepts in our games.
And as I'm playing a Summoner, my GM is going to let my eidolon take levels in a class, one for seven evolution points. Now I really don't want to pass this up...

So now I'm curious, what classes do you think would synergize the best with my melee focused eidolon. I've been thinking about monk for the bonus to my unarmed attacks and flurry. But are there any other ideas floating around... It seems too obvious to be a monk.

Also, tell me if the evolution point cost is seemingly too low or too high, he is happy to change it if it is unbalanced.

Thanks a ton and sorry for the crazy curveball of a question :)

Eidolons are excellent natural attackers, and that synergies very poorly with flurry and monk stuff that does not.

What I would recommend as a class level for an eidolon, would be either a Gunslinger, a barbarian, or alchemist. Gunslinger are good for BAB and proficiency with guns(manufactured weapon attacks still work with natural attacks as always). Others are good for ability to augment eidolons stats via rage/mutagens

SACRED FlST WARPRIEST bar non, furry, 6th spells, etc, love that war priest archtype, dislike the base class.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

As a joke you could multiclass with rogue. When someone complains that eidolons are too powerful, you could say you chose rogue, to water it down. Hahaha.

you could give him levels in summoner, so he can have his own eidolon

Summoner?

Sovereign Court

You could pick Samurai, and have him be your vassal. He gets Resolve, an Order ability, Challenge 1/day, and even his very own mount.

Clearly summoner.

Otherwise, some good 1-2 level dip class like barb or alchemist (for rage/mutagens) fighter (for feats), paladin (2 for divine grace).

I guess a few questions first :)
What lvl is your summoner? A lvl 2 summoner probably wont make much use out of this while a 15th lvl eidolon could take 2, max 3 class levels.
What is the general intent of your eidolon? Fighting style? Sounds like melee and unarmed/natural attack but an eidolon set up with ability increase and skill focus cand do some amazing things. Add in inquisitor/rogue/alchemist ect to make a very skilled skillmonkey.
Any archetypes? A wildcaller is vastly different to a synthesist!
What are you willing to give up? 7 eve points is a LOT. You can grow large with that amount.

With that in mind, a few ideas.
Maneuver master monk. To make a strong maneuver user.
Fighter. FREE PROFICENCIES and a bonus feat. Means you can make a four-armed, greataxe wielding monster :)
I would love to see a paladin Eidolon :) would just be funny :)
Barbarian would be interesting, for the str increase but then you are giving up the points that could go for flat Str increase or size increase. By the time you coukd afford both, you might as well go huge. Massive str eidolons are always hurting for more evo points!

Haha, ok.
Here's some info...
I'm 10th level summoner, no multiclassing.
I plan on dipping one level in a class with my eidolon at this point.
I've played a few summoners and I've personally found that the vanilla god wizard and melee brute style works best for me. (As our group only typically has 3 people not including the GM.)
The only Summoner Archetype I'm into is Master Summoner, but I'm not playing one this campaign. I needed a breath of fresh air from controlling 40 mooks at once.
I'm completely fine with giving up 7 points. No problem. Or 14.

Form: Quadruped
HP: 74
AC: 28
Speed: 40 ft, fly 40 ft.
Ability Scores: Str 28 (30) Dex 16 Con 17 Int 7 Wis 10 Cha 11
Saves: Fort +9 Ref +9 Will +2/+6
Feats: Martial Weapon Proficiency: Falchion, Toughness, Improved Natural Attack: Claw, Lunge, Multiattack
Evolutions: Bite, Limbs (Legs), Limbs (Legs) Large , Pounce , Limbs (Arms), Limbs (Arms), Claws (Legs), Claws (Arms), Improved Damage (Claws), Rend
Special Abilities: Darkvision, Link, Share Spells, Devotion, Multiattack

He's doing quite alright...
First of all, where do you think I should divert points from?
And any new suggestions based on my build?

Play a Half Elf Wild Caller Summoner. With the Half Elf FBC and the Wild Caller's extra Evolution points, you will either have 4 or 5 extra evolution points to play with at tenth level (depending on your interpretation of how those work together). That could help soften the blow of a 7 point ability. Also, judging from your evolution thoughts there, you won't really be losing much.
