Is it possible for us to have unlimited editing in House Rules / Homebrew?

For the purposes of keeping OP posts for homebrew campaign settings, major rules projects, and the like reflective of recent updates, could the 1 hour editing limit be removed within that specific subforum?

We have tried to get that time limit extended and that was denied before. The best thing to do is use a forum on another site to do it, or use google docs, an provide a link to that.

They did give a good reason for it, but I honestly forgot what it was.

Does the forum software make it hard to apply different rules to different forums?

I have no idea. IIRC unlimited editing time causes technical issues.

I think the general philosophy is that forums are forums, not document repositories. I suspect you're thinking of this change as a way to allow a thread-creator to edit their proposal as suggestions are made. On the surface, that sounds good. But when you recognize that such a thing invalidates some or all of what follows, it stops sounding so good. It's no fun (on other forums) to enter a thread and read the discussion that makes no darned sense because people have been editing their posts.

If you're working on a live work-in-progress project, your best bet is to paste your creation into the first post, and a link to a "the latest version of this" document hosted elsewhere.

That way the linearity of time remains inviolate and it's easy to get the state-of-the-art.
