Drow slayer stats advice?

Advice

I envision him as an exiled drow, and an incredibly stealthy monster assassin, trying to rid the wilds of evil. I've spoke to my GM and he's a very mysterious figure, only known as a legend, and no one is really sure if he's a guardian angel, bandit or servant of the gods of death.

So, what stats would you advise? It seems a bit too MAD, with the need for dexterity, intelligence for skill ranks, decent wisdom for perception, and maybe strength for when he needs to face a foe head-on. Even charisma to intimidate people to find the whereabouts of monsters, or for assassinating evil despotic rulers. He doesn't have much time for diplomacy. I thought high charisma would emphasise his mysterious gravitas.

I thought of DEX->CHA->INT=WIS=STR->CON, but I'm unsure if that's a good way to go.

Thanks for any advice :)

so you are looking to stat out Drizzt in pathfinder? I'm sure someone on these boards has done it already

Um, I'm not sure what you mean, sorry. :)

EDIT: Googled it. I'll search the boards!

Focusing on Charisma seems unnecessary. Ditto Int, considering how many Skill Points slayers already get. And Wis need only be average for decent Perception and Sense Motive.

If going with a Dex build, I'd focus on Dex, then sorta distribute my points evenly around among other stuff (a bit more in con and less in Cha due to racial modifiers). With 20 point-buy I'd go something like this:

Str 13 Dex 18 Con 12 Int 12 Wis 10 Cha 12 (post racials).

That ought to do for what you're looking for. You might also want to do a search on this Forum for Fencing Grace if you've got a reasonable GM. It's a Feat (previewed by Jason Bulmahn on this very forum) for Dex-to-damage on rapiers (a very Drow appropriate weapon) and seems like it might be a solid choice if you want to go melee.

You could also go Str 10, Int 14, but that means you can't get Power Attack (which is a very good idea to have).

If you want to Two-Weapon Fight, I recommend going Slayer with a 1-dip into Swashbuckler. With Swashbuckler's Finesse, Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Sawtooth Sabre), and Slashing Grace, you can TWF two Longsword equivalent weapons that add Dex to hit and damage. With a 13 Strength, you could pick up Power Attack and get most of your TWF feats from Slayer's Combat Style talents.

Bonus points: Because you have the dex requirements for TWF, you could go Achaekek combat style (Inner Sea Combat) and pick-up Improved Two-Weapon Feint with the combat style at level 7 and skip the pre-requisites.

Xethik's advice is solid if you want to TWF. I'm not sure I'd bother in your place.

Two-weapon fighting is definitely going to put more feat pressure. And by some, I mean I think you wouldn't even have enough as a Drow. I think the references to Drizzt and my Golarion mind set (Sawtooth Sabres are the fabbored weapons of the God of Assassin's followers) got the best of me.

Eh, Slayer can pull it off (6 bonus Feats over 12 levels go a long way), though it probably won't come fully online for a while (ie: I think you get fully going at like 5th level or so, and won't even be using your sabers until 3rd).

Right right, for some reason I was thinking you needed to take Weapon Finesse as a feat. The Swashbuckler dip giving that is pretty useful. That and you'd get Panache to mess around with, mostly using it for parries and ripostes I would assume.

For archetypes, Stygian Slayer sounds like it would fit a Drow well, but I have no clue what it gives up as I don't have the ACG yet. That goes for either two-weapon fighting or not.

Thanks for all the advice! I've never done TWF before, do the benefits outweigh the attack penalties? And do you think it will still thematically fit an assassin-type?

Forgot to mention I'm almost definitely going Stygian slayer, the ability to turn into a shadows is too cool to pass up! And I'm starting at level 8 or above, for when my current character dies. I'll definitely take a swashbuckler dip, that sounds pretty great.

The benefits could outweigh the price as a Slayer...or they could not. It certainly can work thematically, though. Personally, I wouldn't bother though. Going the buckler + rapier route or something similar instead is very viable, IMO, and has the advantage of not eating all your Slayer Talents on Feats (a necessity if going TWF), leaving some for other things.

Starting at higher level makes the TWF route a lot more viable mechanically if you want to go with it. And the Swashbuckler dip is a mediocre to bad option unless going TWF (in which case it's necessary to use Dex with Sawtooth Sabres via Slashing Grace and make the build work right).
