What Are The Last 3 Characters You Played?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I usually GM so my memory is a little fuzzy.

Exarch D'Marveleaux who was an elven wizard who was on a quest-competition in another dimension to inherit his wizard family's vast extraplanar estate.

Clinton Nimblepaws who was a cat folk bard based on Bill Clinton. He is the mayor of a small outpost town that goes on a quest to save his village and stays questing to stay away from his castrating wife.

Serious Hapsberg who was a nobleman of extreme wealth and a sociopath (this is in the game Song of Swords). His execution of a captured noble in a past battle have brings on a small boarder war which he more or less deals with my throwing money and mercenaries at the problem. He also had a butler who hands him loaded rifles from a golf bag.

Good human Bard (Virtue of Cunning) - D&D 4e

Most recent to oldest

Avis, an awakened Chicken Transmuter 12 with a clay golem shield guardian.

Urist Cattenakum - Dwarven Paladin 8 (Stonelord) LG female - fun archetype. I played a her based of a dwarf that was in my dwarf fortress game. (Urist needs to drink to get herself through the day...)

Coriolania Galtifar - Suli Cleric (The Devourer) 8 NE non- gendered identity (uses zee and zer for pronouns) - she was cleric and business person, running an in game conglomerate using most of her starting money for it. She used skeletons and living employees to craft masterwork weapons and alchemical items in order to support her primary enterprise: getting elementals from slavery on Eberron. Party of her plans was to convince Sahuagin to invade zilargo, since they pioneered most elemental binding tech and a gnomish wizard killed her mother.

As the title says! Say then Race, Class, Archetype(s), and Alignment!

My last PC was a playtest: human brawler, no archetype, NG.

Previous was a human druid, bear shaman archetype, NG.

Previous was an elf ranger/sorcerer (heading toward arcane archer), arcane bloodline but no archetype, CG. In hindsight, archers should always take an Int class over a Charisma class, as there are archery feats relying on Intelligence for some random reason.

I've only ever played 3 characters sooooo…

The first one I played was a Beginner Box character, Human CG Fighter, all the way to lvl 5 :)

Next I played a CN Goblin alchemist, Firebomber

And currently I'm playing a Halfling Master Summoner

I've never been one for multiclassing I suppose

Current character: NG Master Summoner for Jade Regent

Previous 3:
NE Half-orc Infiltrator/Souldrinker for Way of the Wicked
LN Samsaran Diviner for friend's conversion of Expedition to the Barrier Peaks
NG Aasimar Evangelist of Sarenrae for a popcorn adventure game

Huh. There's an an interesting trend, here.

Not counting my own submissions, 7 out of the 42 characters listed here so far are fighters. That's 1 in every 6 characters (out of 19 core and base classes, not counting the ACG). Just as interesting, 8 of the 42 characters listed here have no spellcasting capabilities whatsoever.

I feel like this lends credence to the notion that - in practice and in actual play - Pathfinder's "martials" aren't the dull, underwhelming, un-fun characters that certian tabletop subcultures make them out to be on paper.

Well, check the level ranges here. If you're starting at 1st level, martial characters have a lot to offer. Things are different if you start at 11th.

But I agree with your main point, often the theory crafting is very, very far from actual play that enforces all the rules.

And...

female gnome oracle (bones) 4
male human cleric (evangelist) of Asmodeus 9
male tiefling alchemist (grenadier) 7

Valdemar Darkwood High Elf Bard (Archeologist) N

Arius Zorn Human (Baklunish) Barbarian/Duskblade/Warblade N (3.5 campaign)

Gideon Ravenwing Human (Suel-Oeridian) Cleric of Wee Jas/Crusader/Ruby Knight Vindicator LN (3.5 Campaign)

I generally play neutrals.

Gideon was a "rules lawyer" using logic and word smithing to his advantage, always looking for an angle, or political advantage, and too curious about dark magics for his own good.

Zorn was like Conan, but had some magic flowing in his veins due to exposure to powerful energies as a child. He was an aggressive warrior and wannabe-king who lost his tribe.

Valdemar is a cunning scout, archer and loremaster, with nary a rank in perform.

Isaias Craine - Human Investigator (Playtest Version), Lawful Neutral

Izzhaganatoken or 'Izzkin' - Ratfolk Alchemist (Chiurgeon/Internal/Vivisectionist), True Neutral

Jannik the Hobo - Half-Orc Oracle, Neutral Good

Currently, in Wrath of the Righteous:

LG male human (Tien) monk (monk of the sacred mountain)/paladin/Champion of Irori

Previously, in Carrion Crown:

NG female human (Vudrani) witch (campaign ended at L14)

And previous to that, in Jade Regent:

NG male human (Tian-Min) samurai (campaign ended at L13)

Gnome, male, NG cleric (travel and healing domains)
Tengu, male, NG summoner
Aasimar, male, LN Oracle (Life path)

I tend to be the experienced player that plays support to a group of martial / skillmonkey PCs. The goal is to not outshine anyone, while being the carebear that makes sure the rest of the group makes it out alive.

Human, Rogue (Charlatan)(Underground Chemist (ACG))/Assassin, LE
Human, Wizard (Universalist/Arcane Crafter), CN
Mantidae (15rp custom race of mantis people), Ninja, CN

Rogue was fun, sneak attacking with alchemist's fire or acid vials.

Wizard was part of a "kingdom building" campaign. His goal was to establish a magic college that produced magical weapons for the kingdom. Two words - Viridium Golem.

The Ninja was a practice in sneak attacking by myself.

Sethis, a Lawful Good Aasimar Monk/Warpriest of Irori, who turned himself into an aasimar through self-perfection. He thinks he's only a few more reincarnations from ascending into a lantern archon.

Cho'gal, a Neutral Half-Orc Barbarian/Summoner. He has a demon that's bound to his bloodline that he's trying to get rid of, but until he does it's a powerful ally (and if he doesn't summon it, the thing screams at him in Abyssal in his head all the time).

Ambrose Daniels, a Chaotic Good human Barbarian (Drunken Brute)/Alchemist (Grenadier), a devotee of Cayden Cailean with a Southern drawl and a tendency to get angry and throw flaming booze around before charging in with his sword when evil needs smote.

Zurich - Half Orc, NG, Invulnerable Rager Barbarian 15. He was essentially a Paladin and was built for maximum DR via Dragon Totem and Improved Stalwart. Rage powers were standard anti-magic fair besides and human favored class was used to boost Superstition. One quirk was that he took a self-imposed "Vow of Poverty" and only carried one item of value, his +3 Admantium (or whatever) Impervious Courageous Furious Scimitar. That's all he really needed.

Cade Talbot - Halfling, TN, Void School Wizard 15. Just started him as a replacement for the previous character, but spent 4 feats on the Wizard Discovery True Name and plan on spending the rest from now til 20 on them as well. He may or may not be currently stalked by Hastur, who appears much as Slenderman but in the form of a shapeless yellow figure.

Don't-remember-name - Goblin, LN, Invulnerable Barbarian 4. Essentially built as a lower level version of Zurich, but was a "trained goblin battle butler" for the female inn keeper who was the daughter of the glass factory guy in Rise of the Runelords. He knew everything there was to know about his butler duties and carried them out with the dignity befitting his station, but when placed out of his element and without the guidance of "his mistress" he tended to revert to typical goblin speech patterns out of despair. Died fighting that evil Aasimar chick in the place beneath the goblin den.

Most recently:

Seltaine Greyfeather - Aasimar (Angel-kin) Bloodrager (celestial bloodline), NG. For PFS. Seltaine is of Kellid descent and looks pretty human. Haven't developed much of a backstory for him yet.

Yazan Ashwater - Tiefling (Hungerseed) Inquisitor of Feronia, N. For PFS. Born of a half-orc priestess and an ogre mage father, Yazan was raised in the hold of Belkzen but was eventually driven out. She discovered the faith of Feronia when taught by Kellid shamans and then travelled south through Varisia where she ended up joining the Varisian wandering caravans. Not having a lot of respect for "civilized" ways she joined the Sczarni.

Dregarvonis - Silver Dragon Paladin, LG. This is for a 3.5 game and the character was originally an NPC designed by the GM, using an optional system for dragon PCs that appeared in Dragon magazine.

Peet

Human CG Master Summoner - Abandoned due to the class being waaaay too powerful.

Human CG Inquisitor of Cayden Cailean - Still too good for the party I am running with. Archer Inquisitor. Abandoned.

Fetchling CG Swashbuckler - This hit the mark. Now we are always on the verge of getting beat, so maybe I should have stayed with the Inquisitor. :p

Anyway, I hope to keep this character until the end of the campaign (already 5/6 modules into RotRL) and then play a Sorcerer or Paladin.

Sovereign Court

Current character: Changeling ranger (skirmishes) 6/ Horizon Walker 4 switch hitter for Carrion Crown

Male human fighter (Viking) 7 for Dragon's Demand - victorious

Male Half-elf fighter (aldori sword lord) 3 / monk (moms) 2 / aldori sword lord 1 for Kingmaker - game discontinued due to schedule changes

The Exchange

Elven witch - she was neutral evil. Patron was for plague. She was the party healer but no one wanted her to heal them..hehe. Her fox familiar had a nasty tendency to come home from a night of foraging in the city with its muzzle stained pink with blood, not long after that rumours of the homeless in the city turning up dead started surfacing. She was a great character, but got steam cooked by a dragon turtle on the the way to find some star metal in second darkness.

Human barbarian - this guy lasted all of one session in the second darkness ap. He got hit by three trolls who all managed to land both claw attacks. Three rends later and he was so much gobbets of blood and gore. Luckily the trolls were so busy feeding off his body that everyone else got away.

Dwarven fighter - given my recent character deaths in the campaign, we all laid bets this guy wasn't gonna last long either. I called him Temp O'Rary as a consequence. He was crass, belligerent and damn good at his job of tanking for the group and keeping everyone else alive. Unfortunately, two 1's in a row on my saves against phantasmal killer and poor old temp was no more. He got raised by his co hort sister, but the two of them returned to Dwarven lands when they found out the plan the elves hash for getting into the drow city. He actually lasted longer than both my previous characters.

Now I play a human summoner - vanilla summoner, no archetype.

Currently - Aasimar Cavalier (Huntsman) with a pack of Celestial Dog

Last game - Shoanti Monk (Tetori)

Before that - LN Human Cleric of Asmodeus (Separitist) worshiping Asmodeus as god of Lawyers and Contracts, promoting the faith as something not evil at all and more acceptable to modern sensibilities.

Eric, human fighter, NG (lvl 0 - 6 ongoing campaign)
Twiceborn, dwarven cleric of Moradin, LG (lvl 1 - 14)
Rool, gnome enchanter wizard, NG (lvl 1 - 13)
