Ranzak's playmat is available for pre-order.

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

For those interested, you can now pre-order a playmat for Ranzak, if you are so inclined. I believe this is a Paizo store exclusive.

I was so enthusiastic about this one that I called my friend to find out if he wanted me to pick one up for him at GenCon.

Thanks Hawkmoon269 for the heads up. Pre-ordered.

I have never played with one of these mats, can anyone comment if they actually find it that useful? I am interested. I love the art and the character, but I was wondering how people feel about the mats. Thanks!

Honestly, my mats sit in the closet, I never use them. I ordered the Ranzak one only because I REALLY love the art for him.

Whereas mine are stored in the box and are used each time we play. I think they're helpful in keeping your play area somewhat organized, and keeps your cards off the table and from sliding. They're basically thin mouse pads with slightly rough cloth on top and a no slip foam rubber bottom.

It's a matter of preference and play style is all.

I bought the base set for RotR a while back. In general, I like them. They are very nice. Though I'm not sue I can see myself buying them for every adventure path. (I sort of wish individual characters were sold separately, since I don't really feel a need to have a separate S&S playmat version of Valeros for example.)

But I had two issue when using them. One of which is my own doing.

1. Buying them is what led me to discover I don't organize my cards as per the layout in the rulebook. I go draw, character, discard. The rulebook goes discard, draw, character. So the layout on the playmat isn't what I'm used to. I tried changing but I'm just too used to how I've played now. Granted, I can just ignore the outlines on the mat and use them with my personal layout, but to some extent that defeats the purpose.

2. If you sleeve your cards, the spacing seems a bit cramped. I don't have a sleeve on my character cards (I used scanned and printed copies), so it was manageable, but I wish there was just a bit more space.

But they are great looking. And the idea is fantastic.
