The cadre of Venture-Officers in Finland expands, as Markus Hyytinen joins us. His responsibility will be to swell our ranks in the northern city of Oulu, where polar bears roam the streets and they put mayonnaise on pizza.

Let's give a warm welcome to the newest Venture-Lieutenant of the cold north!

Oulu is a cold, cold place. Congrats and good luck.

Hi all! Thank you for the position and the fancy title that comes with the package. I'll try my best in organizing PFS here in Oulu. The playerbase is very small up here, a home game every now and then and Jukka hosting a table or two at the biannual Maracon with questionable success.

There's interest for Pathfinder in Oulu, that I know, it's just the matter of organization. I think with some effort two tables worth of eager players could be gathered from various home groups and gaming clubs. Luckily I have some contacts already and don't have to start from a scratch. This will be an interesting Fall for PFS in Oulu! ...I might have to bribe some players with promises of adamantine chainsaws and laser pistols, though. We'll see.

I got into Pathfinder Society myself at the start of Season 4, when I played the First Steps trilogy hosted over IRC, Skype and Google Draw. From then on, I ended up GMing PFS online and eventually introduced my home group to it while continuing to host (and sometimes even play!) scenarios online. Eventually we switched from Google Draw to Roll20. There has been a year-long lull in non-online games in my area, but I'm sure season 6 will elicit enough interest to reboot the scene here.

As for my RPG background in general, I've been playing for about four years now, starting in late 2010 in the GURPS system, hosting homebrew campaigns for my friends. About a year later I found out about Pathfinder through online games and hosted both GURPS and Pathfinder, both campaigns and oneshots. Funnily enough, I wasn't aware of the existence of Modules back then and wrote everything myself. That was an invaluable experience and through trial and error, improved my GMing to the hopefully not-subpar level it is today.

This year I got into the Finnsh PFS community through the annual Ropecon-convention and am glad of that. It was nice to see the people who keep the Society running in Finland by playing and hosting actively. And apparently there was a need for a VL here in the north so I was appointed with blazing speed.

In real life I study mathematics and am into books and bicycling. I also like gaming but that's a given. :)

Oh, Oulu. Too bad I'm in Helsinki.

All hail Agape (aka Markus)!

Icyshadow, There's plenty games going on around Helsinki. Check this site for more info.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

1 person marked this as a favorite.

We might need better coverage. All kinds of players out there in the woodwork who aren't aware of PFS Finland.

Sorry to bump this, but I gotta congratulate Markus (or Agape, as I know him!).

He's the one who helped me take my baby steps into this game, and was instrumental in my first session, along with the rest of the online group. That session was one of my favorites ever, as a pregen Valeros showed up the party in Severing Ties (at level 1, no less!), only to die a gruesome, horrible and awesome death.

This is a power gamer, roleplayer, and a great guy rolled into one. Long live the Iron Rats, RIP Berry, and hooray!

Congratulations.
