So, Kabal had 69 votes when I went to bed last night, and 69 votes when I checked again this morning. Did anyone notice them bump up to around 84 votes any time last night? Just curious :)

Goblin Squad Member

I noticed.

Well, you're rather observant :)

Really looking forward to getting that final list from Lee.

It helps to have a sheet that pulls the info every minute and makes a change log, including current applicants.

So, you know when you see three drops in the same minute as three adds to the applicants of another guild on your change log, it give you some interesting insight.

Certainly still not any sort of 'proof', but interesting information to peruse.

Given the number of guilds on the Land Rush that were likely approving Applicants without knowing who they were, and the likelihood that some groups had members hanging out in other groups to gather intel, I wouldn't read too much into it. But then, I don't have access to your data, so I really can't say.

Goblin Squad Member

Indeed.
Like I said, its in no way proof of anything. Which is why I found people pointing at less informative things and 'calling people out' so amusing.

Anyway, the whole thing has been rather enlightening.

Scarab Sages

Did 84 seems to be 1 more than KotC at 3rd place?

Uhum...

When in doubt, Eisbock.
Interesting choice. Not a lot of good representations of the style in the US. Underappreciated style though.

I have to go down to Munich to get a decent eisbock. Not a lot of local eisboks here in lower Frankonia ( or as i troll people sometimes here in Upper Bavaria ). xD

That's really interesting. I'd have assumed that if you could find a good one easily anywhere it would be in Germany. I've only had the one here and it was an import from a store with an extensive selection.

Also: sorry for the thread hijack non beer geeks. Nothing to see here. Please move along.

@Sunnfire

I noticed the same thing, it seems like a small group has been moving around for quite awhile, and then they all went back home.

I did not think LR1 were vote swapping. I did get a lecture on that in week one of LR2 from a LR1 winner.

Some LR2 players have changed their vote. I have. I am sorry Caldeathe Baequiannia (calling you Cal has too many connotation on So Cal -- google Go see Cal) that you took flak for your move. Maybe if you had come to Tavernhold it would have been less, but probably not.
Still I think Tavernhold would have been good fit for you, but if Kabeal had then boosted you that would have been unfortunate.
OV is a fine location with a difficult alignment.

Is Cal still selling cars in So. Cal? Remember growing up watching his commercials on Channel 5, 9, 11 and 13. :-)

That would be awesome, but we can live with C. ;)

We like you in C and have hopes you can stay there. Will make trading and training between us so much easier if you do. :-)

I'm just hoping Terra Australis Incognito stays nearby too.

Does anyone know whether the map at Goblinworks.com now shows the final results, or if it needs to be updated one more time?

Goblin Squad Member

Has anyone heard much from The Gauntlet.

I'm pretty sure we need to wait for Lee Hammock to post the final results before assuming the map is correct.

I personally expect a blog until about 4pm Pacific coast time, as it being the final week, they probably want to fact check everything 10 times over before "publishing."

I hope it's not yet final, as we've yet to hear from Lee. He's had a couple of "oopsies" in the past weeks, and at least once the map needed changing even after he posted, so I'll bet Carbon's right about error-checking.

Goblin Squad Member

The map shouldn't be accurate.

The Leaderboard is.

So if you know everyones picks, you can determine the results.

Thanks, all. I guess I'll join the F5 crew.

I wonder whether we're responsible for the Web site trouble Paizo seems to be having this morning...

Maybe they went G.

You should check out my prediction....

We're around and we follow the threads, but I think I'm the only Gauntleteer who ever posts anything. As such--on behalf of The Gauntlet, I extend congratulations to all the groups who ended Week 10 with a settlement, and would like to express our profound satisfaction with how the NW corner of the map has turned out. We look forward to cultivating fruitful relations with each of our proximal neighbors.

We hope to stay there, yes. G was very high up on our "we got kicked out now where do we go" list. :-)

There are probably a scattering of long term spy/saboteurs planted in all the major guilds.

However the spy issue will be somewhat limited in the early stages given the cost of setting up an EE character.

This will change radically once the game goes open. In EVE its not uncommon for spy alts to work steadily over several years to make it into the upper echelons of alliances and coalitions before revealing themselves.

I just hope we can avoid the communications paranoia at every level of EVE.

Open chat isn't safe; anyone can read it.
Corporate chat isn't safe; we're riddled with spies.
The leadership channel isn't safe; it's where all the spies want to be.
This top-level-leadership phone call isn't safe; I hear they have agents in all the phone companies.
This face-to-face meeting isn't safe; one of you might betray us and then move to another country.

(One or two of these examples might be exaggerated. Or not.)

Edit: Of course, sometimes after all this mania for operational security, the CEO runs off with all the corp's assets because someone called him names, or the treasurer goes on vacation and forgets to automate payment of absolutely critical corporate bills, or the CEO's second in command stages a coup to impress a member of the opposite sex (who is not at all impressed). Or, once in a while, there really is a spy who's spent three years getting close enough to the boss to screw over the entire company, either for money, or for the lulz.

The common thread in these disaster scenarios? Rabid, obsessive pursuit of opsec can't protect you from them.

Been there done that.....and yes all of that will probably happen here too.

All I have to say is "No, thank you." If the enemy wants to know that badly, they'll find out. If you somehow keep all your secrets, the CEO will just slip on a banana peel, fall into a coma, and leave the corporation helpless anyway.

Basic security, sure. Internal Affairs and the corporate Stasi? Have fun, I'm out.
