More so if you were a fan of Ferris Buler's day off. Still funny if you never saw it but, extra funny if you have

So much more appropriate, because Deadpool is the Ferris Bueller of Marvel movies.

I think it's more like the Cards Against Humanity of Marvel movies. Wrong in every way, and yet so hilarious.

Completely agree with you. Although [blinks... checks twice... blinks again] it's funny to notice that Quebec, Canada has it rated for 13 year olds... I wonder if they edited it for larger audience or if they lost a lot of R events in the translation??

One thing to remember is that Quebec, is a french speaking province, so most will see a dubbed version, and while many do speak english, some expresion or cultural reference may miss the spot.

Also, swearing in Quebec isn't about any sex/genetalia reference (it's about catholic stuff, litterally! i.e. french for tabernacle, host, and ciborium are part of our swearing expression) so the F-word doesn't have the same impact on the audience.
As for sex and violence, this movie violence no more violent that want Hollywood has offered us in the last 20 years, and we don't see sex scene as offensive as it may be in the rest of North America.

By the way, the movie was great! In fact, it's pretty much the first movie produced by Fox that I liked :D

Saw it this weekend. Thought it was fantastic, though comics nerd in me was taken out of the moment by

Spoiler:
Colossus eating cereal while armored up.

Otherwise it was really enjoyable. Definitely not for kids, though.

13 is a bit young for this, Quebec or not. Then again Deadpool is pretty much like a teenager in the way he thinks...

About that, I don't think that character can switch back the way he did back in the 80's/90's, come to think of it. He's always in that mode whenever I saw him in comics in the last 10 years or so (don't know the reason, but maybe someone here does?)

Sovereign Court

They just didn't want to pay for the actor to appear visually.

Hitting $490M internationally, Deadpool is ~130M away from being the highest grossing R film ever. In two weeks, its the fastest an R film has broken the 200M milestone domestically.

Sovereign Court

So it will hit that milestone as well.

Oh man imagine the money that R Wolverine will suck in.

My wife and I are debating about whether to let our very mature 15-year-old daughter see it. Our 8 and 10 year old boys will be very disappointed that we will not let them see it. I don't think my 9 year old daughters will care, but they're certainly not seeing it either.

Yeah, sure. Bring the daughter.

Some of the jokes might soar over her head but...
She is 15. She has heard and seen worse in all regards.

For the sake of her sweet young soul I pray to God she has not. I don't think it's possible. Deadpool was freaggin' amazing, but I cannot - will not! - believe that a 15 year old out there could be jaded enough to fully appreciate the pits of depravity Wade Wilson swims into in this flick.

Small hand. Nuff said.

Why? This movie has no worse language than was regular at the Boys Club I went to in elementary school. The gore is about average, way lower than any horror or zombie movie, with practically no blood and only a handful of scenes actually dwelled on. And the sex in the movie is tamer than most R movies from the 80s and 90s, and something like 30% of 15 year olds are sexually active so there is a decent chance of seeing worse IRL by this point.

Honestly, the movie was good. It was solidly R. But overall, I think Highlander is worse for being inappropriate.

Spoiler:
Wikipedia doesn't mention anything of him losing the ability to shift form. The last X-men comic I read was Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-men run, which brought Colossus back to life, and he was definitely still able to shift then. The only changes I'm aware of currently is he has Juggernaunt's helmet (which he doesn't in the film.)
Hama wrote:

Right. I figured that was the reason, which is why it took me out of the scene. Plus I'm sure animating the transformation would probably cost more than just leaving him in that form the whole film.

Leaving the actor out was probably a good thing:

That was the mocap actor. This is the guy who gave him the voice.

He is also my countryman :)

Ok, wikipedia is great, and I found this nugget... shows how long it's been since I actually collected an x-title:

"[...] Later, Illyana became an early victim of the Legacy Virus and died from it.[31] The loss of his immediate family, as well as brain damage that forced him to remain in armored form, caused Colossus to rethink his position with the X-Men and join Magneto and his Acolytes, who had offered him an alternative to the X-Men's pacifist philosophy of peaceful mutant/human coexistence.[32] Colossus recovered from the brain damage soon after,[33] but decided to remain with the Acolytes of his own volition, hoping he could temper their extremist methods with what he had learned from Professor Xavier.[34][...]"

I would have thought things had changed. They may not have. A Few years ago, if I recall, Colossus got sliced up right through his body (specifically, right through the middle of his head if I remember the comic frame well enough). The thing was, as long as he stayed metal...he lived nicely. If he ever changed back...he died.

I think that was the jist of it (been a while).

Thought they'd have a solution to it by now as well.

The budget on this movie was incredibly low, too, for a superhero movie at 48 million.

I watched the movie with a certain leading Game Publisher, he got the joke but I missed it, when I asked after the show he could not remember the scene, thanks for explaining it here.

That was my wife's absolute favorite part of the movie.

Hey its like we can only afford 2 X-Men

I heard that the end of the movie was supposed to be a gunfight, but their budget got cut last minute and that is why the guns were left in the cab.

Oh, so those box office numbers I mentioned... Deadpool is 2M the highest domestic gross xmen. Now only 250m to go to beat DoFP's international numbers.

Setting the bar kinda low there...

But the romantic plot did indeed feel weirdly genuine.

It's Morena Baccarin. Trust me guys: everything she ever touched turned to gold.

Well, except Gotham.

It's gold to me. And the Gotham lead will also turn to gold. Don't blame me: it's Morena Baccarin.

I like Gotham, but it's Bronze at best.

She is one of the best parts though.

Yes.

I dunno about Morena in Gotham. I was interested in a young Leslie Thompkins when she was first introduced, but in the subsequent episodes I saw nothing that made her stand out as anything other than "Jim's new love interest."

I don't blame Morena for that. That's just shoddy writing. Also, I haven't seen more of that series since the end of Season 1, so maybe her character developed in Season 2 or something.

They did. She likes to call out Jim on his b#!@~%+$ if nothing else.

Instead watched Deadpool again.

An excellent choice! That said, I did really enjoy Gods of Egypt, though I admit that it has some serious issues. I just love over the top trashy fantasy films, as long as they're fun. Same reason I really liked the Underworld movies (though I've only seen the first two) and I, Frankenstein.

Stan Lee is (justifiably) mad about his cameo in Deadpool.

Because he totally didn't realize that he was an mc at a strip club when he filmed the scene in a strip club set with scantily clad extras...

I think you've made an incorrect assumption about why Stan is upset.
