My main can not be in OV, but DT can, but if main is ecluded from OV, there are considerations to be valued. Does DT get incentive to join or reduced negatives?

Anyone that joins Ozem's Vigil gets all of the same incentives that are shared by each member. They also suffer any of the negatives (if there are any).

No one gets anything special or extra above anyone else. :)

The DT is only special in it's ability to avoid paying for experience. Other than that, it is no different from any other character. Your DT can certainly be a full member of a different settlement than your Main Character.

How you play the DT will determine how it is received in any settlement. If it will be a full member, contributing to the settlement and aiding in defence (whether directly through fighting, or indirectly through assisting with production of weapons and resources) then there's no reason it would get treated any differently.

Forgeholm keeps posting that they are only place for dwarves and gnomes...

We have never posted we are the only place for Dwarves and Gnomes. But we vigorously and repeatedly have said we are a Dwarven settlement for Dwarves and Dwarf friends, including Gnomes, Halflings, outcasts and others. If you want to join Forgeholm, please do!

There are several other settlements that have Dwarves in them. As there will be when the short folk are introduced. And Forgeholm will welcome them with open arms!

Nothing can make you want to be a dwarf. It's either in your blood, or you're normal.

It appears you caught me out, I NEVER considered being a dwarf, I did enjoy the video though.

Any newcomers to the Alpha that are considering playing a Dwarf: Since you're already picking the best race, why not pick the best settlement also?

Forgeholm is dedicated to Dwarven awesomeness and success.

Come help build our Dwarven kingdom!

Dwarves are great in certain roles, like Clerics, and in certain crafting areas. Elves are great in other roles, like Wizard, and other crafting areas. Humans are good but not great at everything.

So make your plans accordingly.

Join Kabal! though honesty does require me to mention that the dwarves of Kabal have to allow Elves to join as well.

Exactly! Play what you like, and don't worry about the maximum "efficiency" :-).

Which is why I played a dwarf wizard for so long!

I've always thought a dwarven wizard would be the primary source of "mundane" workaday magics. Magical water pumps, materiel reinforcement, magic pipe worms to lay pipe in existing walls...

Yeah I like to make up spells and magic items for my tabletop games :P

Water to Beer spell?

Or is that Dwarf Jesus?

Goblin Squad Member

ooo a spell to ferment fruits rapidly and one to filter liquids.

I had a weird dream recently that explained to me that there is nothing but dwarves in our world. I'm wondering if it was a divine message or too much bratwurst for dinner?

It goes like this. The first humans were actually dwarves whose mothers failed to drink enough dwarven ale while pregnant, they were shunned and stuck together and bred more humans. The first elves were cursed dwarves driven out of proper society. Because of their curse thinking, they found that they liked wood lots more than they liked stone and metal. And they formed together and bred more "elves".

Dwarves get along fairly well with "Humans" because they realize that the "Humans" couldn't help that their mothers failed as proper mothers and therefore can't be held responsible for their "Human" condition. Dwarves don't get along as well with "Elves" because of this ancient curse, though some do try to find out how to break the curse so no more "Elves" will be born and only proper dwarves will be born instead.

Bratwurst or Divine message?

Forgeholm menbers have been some of the most friendly players I've come to meet in game.

Here in Golarian Dwarves hold no grudges against the Elves. That is a myth. We have a respect for Elves and let them go about their business, as they let us go about ours. After all, life is too long to hold a grudge. Who wants to be bitter for eternity?

We also know well we deeply owe a debt of gratitude to the Humans for bringing us dwarves to our senses and convinced us to stop the infighting we carried on about for centuries. Thanks to the good folk of Kerse and Macridi for all the trade between our people!

And the short folk are welcome in Forgeholm. We look forward with great anticipation to the eventual arrival of the Gnomes and Halflings. Their unique character will bring much needed color and variety to the River Kingdoms and the skills of the Gnomes in the mines and Halflings in the mountains and fields are renown! And Halflings are known to be excellent stonemasons, a skill close to the heart of us Dwarves.

Orcs are a different matter however. We bitterly resent the taking of Koldukar some 70 centuries ago, and spit at the thought of it's still being held by the filthy Orcs. Barely can we bring ourselves to think of it as "Urgir", and surely can't speak of that place without sadness and regret. Someday a great Dwarf will lead us to reclaim our lost Sky Citadel and redeem our brethren who lost it! Do not expect Orcs or Half-orcs to be welcome in Forgeholm any time soon.

As for our acceptance of outcasts, while we are known to judge our fellow Dwarves somewhat harshly, we understand our customs are different, and welcome those of other races who require solitude or time for reflection, redemption, or solace. You are welcome to come to Forgeholm to recover your spirit and help us build our great city in the hills!

I was at the auction house in Marchmont and stood outside was a dwarf in just his underwear. I am sorry but I could never be a dwarf after seeing that. It's going to be a struggle grouping with a dwarf after seeing that. It is something that cannot be unseen.
