My further comments were to give general advice to those who have similar problems.

@OP: Glad to hear you got this resolved.

In general... it's usually a good idea to pull the guy aside after the game, explain that PC death carries a fairly heavy sentence in Society-play. Explain why power-gaming is sort of common. It's a necessary evil. There's really no sugar coating it for most new players.
