I was planning to play Eyes of the Ten and apply the boon to a new Aasimar Shaman, but it looks like I may have some trouble with the Aasimar race being phased out.

The question is: can I 'reserve' an Aasimar character with 1xp, then apply the EotT boon during season 6 using level-1-retraining-rules before playing him any further?

Make a GM credit baby. They have already said you can apply character creation chronicles (such as race boons) to them as if they were new characters.

Dark Archive

so the way the boon is worded the boon has to be applied to a newly created character. so the boon can not be applied to a character with 1 xp on it already since that character is not newly created. the lvl one retraining rules won't help you since the character is still not newly created just being retrained. The GM baby idea would not work since to survive the season 6 phase out the character has to be created with 1xp of credit and the boon states that it can only be added to a newly created character.

Thanks guys.

Hmm...in light of Sean's post, the exact wording of the rule would be important. Does the rule say "as if they were new characters"? Anyone know where that ruling was made or have a link to it?

Flagged for spoilers.

Race boons have the language that they must be the first chronicle sheet on the character, yet we're still allowed to retroactively apply them to credit babies.

I believe Mike has gone on record stating that a GM character doesnt have to be created til you are actually going to play it, and until then chronicles (including race and the one being mentioned here) can be applied or removed as necessary.

I dont have a link though, and I could be wrong. But Im pretty sure.

The title is very spoilery, as well. This particular boon is one of the bigger "secrets" in PFS, particularly considering how it is earned. We should be more careful with this kind of thing...

Mike's comment was regarding the BUILD of the character. You can amass as many chronicles as you want with GM credit on a single PC (limited by rules, of course), but do not have to actually create that character until you wish to play it, no matter how many chronicles are on it.

When I asked I was told that GM credit had to be applied day-of (meaning, if you run #4-23 for credit on June 15, 2013 you need to pick a character to apply it to at the time you run it). I don't think you can subsequently apply a credit for EotT from, say, August 2014 to that character, even if you haven't played it. It needs to be Chronicle #1, which is a position held by the June 15 chronicle, of course.

As others are stating, this is old (and anecdotal) information. I would send Mike or John an email and ask them directly.

Slightly non-sequitor, but I'll throw out there that the EotT boon is kind of a nice way to make a "less optimal" character viable, like a nagaji wizard or gnome barbarian or some such.

Aasimar kind of already have the EotT boon "built-in".

(Of course, if you just want to go uber, never mind!)

I'm with Sean on this one, I don't think it will work. I'm going to wrap the boon that the OP is talking about in a spoiler tag, to try and keep it somewhat of a secret from those who shouldn't be seeing it.

Spoiler:
You may designate one newly created PC under your Pathfinder Society number as a protege. This tutelage manifests in a +2 bonus to a single ability score of your choice at character creation.

That's the relevant information. It specifically calls out that it has to be a newly created PC, and assigned at character creation. So logically following that it means you can't apply it someone who already has credit applied to that number. This is one of those cases where the specific rules trump the general rules/

In an effort to help keep the secret, would you mind editing the second half of your spoiler out.

To help keep the secret I would have if I saw this in time, but it's too late to edit the post. Although I do feel the second half is relevant for the final caveat.

What about the

Boon:
5-99 The Paths We Choose.
It has a similar function. Plus other racial boons says they have to be the first boon applied to the character. neither of the two mention that. I can see why thats heavily implied and should be treated as "NO this must be the first and only boon a character has." Asking to see if these two boons are the exception due to similar wording. Can the EotT be combined with the boon I mentioned?

When you rebuild a first level character you can apply a 'first chronicle' boon to them even if it had not been a part of the character before. The example used was race boons, but would apply equally to other such boons.

Edit: Reference.

Thanks. but can GM credit babies benefit from such a combo? I mean no matter what level you get them too. If you never played or even built the Character I'd consider that a New character.

By the Guide, you are not required to build the character until you first play it. So you would be able to apply any 'first chronicle' boons to the character when you finally build it.
