A lonely artist's land rush lament, looking for a guild

Pathfinder Online

Goblin Squad Member

I'm still trying to catch up on the details of the game and figure what I'll want to do. Haven't read the GW blog in a year... I love PVP and crafting but will probably end up focusing one or the other. Is there a list of land rush guilds with these details easy to peruse?
I'm really looking for a group that I can contribute to and be a part of. If your guild has any room for somebody like me please let me know. I can jump in on this land rush before it's too late!

Haha! You'll find no shortage of companies and settlements looking for members!

Here's the leaderboard for settlements. And, just as a sidenote, the map that shows where they're probably gonna be located (though none but the top three are positive).

I expect there'll be quite a few invitations on this thread come morning (maybe even by the time I finish writing this post, though I may edit this parenthetical out if I'm wrong so I don't look silly). Me, I'm about to head to bed, so I'm afraid I can't give much of a recap, but here's something:

Currently, the landrush is in full swing. People are scrounging for extra votes to up their place and buffer themselves against other settlements. Guilds = Settlements, and each settlement usually contains at least one or two companies.

Okay, I'll leave this up to Nihimon or Guurzak or another one of our resident walking encyclopedias. In the meantime, let me issue a warm welcome from Freevale! I could do a link to our landrush page, but I'm not that tacky.

:)

I could edit the parenthetical...but...sleepy. ^-^

Also, I was curious and glanced at your art page. Holy crap! Maybe I should have recognized your name from somewhere?

Anyways, that stuff's spectacular! You could write a half-dozen TV show bibles just from the illustrations section!

EDIT: Okay, just before I go to sleep, one thing to those reading this so I don't get reprimanded: One of the drawings on the Digital Paint section and I think a few on the Life Drawing section are NSFW.

Greetings Nickolas!

Here are a few resources to check out:

A nice list of companies Nihimon has compiled (the word "Guild" is a misnomer and has no real definition in PFO, but we use the word a lot in the forums) is found at Company Recruitment List

A spreadsheet showing a list of each group/settlement with website links (if available) is at Unofficial Land Rush Leaderboard

A helpful spreadsheet showing many technical details of the current Land Rush mechanics at Land Rush Summary

Finally, the latest Land Rush Map, a nice visual resource maintained by Harad Navar can be found here, Unofficial Land Rush Map, Week 7 Results

Good luck choosing! We all want more members that fit our play style!

Wow! That is some beautiful artwork Sir Russell! I am VERY impressed. Nicely done!

Something else that can be good to know that not only are there these settlements to consider, but theres also 2-3 "factions" or alliances that has been created. Then theres also the eu based and respectivly the na based and probably some outside these locations. could be good to check that out before deciding where to go.

I have to second this. That art is INSANE. It's as good as it gets.

Anyway, welcome. I agree that the Land Rush Leaderboard is a good place to look at guild/settlement descriptions. At this point basically everyone is looking to add both crafters and pvp-focused individuals so really you could fit in just about anywhere that strikes your fancy.

Nice work on the art, one thing to consider posting would be what timezone you are. There are some EU guilds looking for members as well :)

Goblin Squad Member

And Oceanic guilds ;-)

Goblin Squad Member

Yessssss, join the cult of the Oceanic. Sunholm could use more people in this timeslot. Just sayin.

Goblin Squad Member

Note to self, just plug Terra Australis straight up next time.
Oh, did I say that out loud?

Goblin Squad Member

Yep, great art! "I don't know art but I know what I like! And I like!"

Everybody wants you [join Kabal!] but you can narrow down your choices by deciding what alignment you want to play. In order to get into a settlement and get training, you need to be no more than one step away [and lots of folks will correct me if I am wrong]. There are evil settlements {LE and CE], good settlements {LG, NG, CG] and some neutral settlements[mainly LN].

Kabal, for example, is NG - regardless of what some folks think. :-)

So look around, check out their websites that are linked in the Land Rush that's on the leaderboard and ask away. We have three weeks left in the land rush, then the fun really starts!

Goblin Squad Member

And if you don't actually want to take an active roll in managing a settlement, you may also be able to join a company that is aligned any way you like, and simply not be a technical citizen of the settlement. And you may find over time that the alignment you are thinking of won't actually fit your play style. None of those things will be important in the first few months, anyway, so look for a group that interests you, and you can always work things out later on the alignment grid.

Rule 1: We're all here to have fun.

That is really impressive. I wish I had just a fraction of your talent.

Indeed it is high quality! For those looking for a link here is one!

Goblin Squad Member

Very sweet artwork. Top notch all the way.

If you're wanting a neutral group focusing on being hopefully the best trade center in game, then check out the Kingdom of Aeternum.

I think you'll be very welcome anywhere you choose to go...so welcome aboard and join in the fun. Help us build a great game.

Goblin Squad Member

Thanks for the info everybody! I'll be checking these guilds out.

As for more details, timezone is North America GMT-8
I'll either be Dwarf or Orc, and some lawful alignment. If I'm going to be more pvp I'm thinking evil just to make things more difficult =)

Goblin Squad Member

Golgotha is LE with an Orc based company.

Forgeholm is LN with mostly Dwarves.

Those are probably your two best bets, the first will focus on PvP, while the second will focus on Defensive PvP and largely crafting.

A lawful-evil orc would be a great fit for the Iron Tusk Band based in the lawful evil settlement Golgotha. Drop me a note if you'd like to discuss, or visit our forums at xeilias.com.

Forgeholm for LN Dwarves, an artist like yourself will be greatly appreciated. :)

Goblin Squad Member

Forgeholm is PFO's premier dwarven settlement, so they might be worth a look.

I'd also recommend Agents of Erastil if you're looking to play a Cleric of some sort. They're Lawful Good, so they do accept LN characters.

The TN settlements RBL, T7V, & Eastern Sun allow Neutral Evil PCs if you're not interested in joining Golgotha. Reading Between the Lines is open to many alignments and play-styles. We're PFO's first democracy, so you'll have a voice in settlement government. Crafters/merchants also receive incentives packages. Great for solo players & Free Agents! :)

...Or you could Join Kabal! They're known for their sassy pants.

Goblin Squad Member

Its true. We have the sassyist of pants.

We also like Orcs, Lawful Good Clerics, and have a lot of beer.

Actually we will probably have a lot of Orcs and Elves. Go figure.

Goblin Squad Member

Orcs and Elves living together! Tolkein is spinning in his grave, Sunnfire. ;)

Goblin Squad Member

T7V (The Seventh Veil) also has an evil leaning company (The Veiled) that may be an option and accepts any of the settlement's supported alignments except good (NE, LN, TN, CN). Orcs or Dwarves who want to PVP or craft are needed and welcome.

I've got an exorcism ceremony that should fix that.

Orcs and Elves!

Actually I feel that entire scene has elements of the Kabal in it.

You don't actually expect people to read your posts these days, do you Kobold? :D

Goblin Squad Member

Hey great lists Nihimon, thanks for putting all that together!
Yes that is me.

To everybody that msg'd me, sorry if I don't get around to a reply, I am looking at everything though =)

And one dwarf, hiding his head in shame that he can't more to come join Kabal!

Goblin Squad Member

Too many cookies, too few beers.

(edit: for the dwarves. I, personally, am delighted by the prevalence of cookies. It's one of the better things about Kabal.)

Goblin Squad Member

Tavernhold...

the name speaks for itself. But, Lawful and Evil are not big on the agenda.

Yes that is me.

It gives me great personal satisfaction to be useful :)

And that is, indeed, some very impressive artwork. Some of the Illustrations remind me of the Syrinscape artwork my wife picked up at PaizoCon - very beautiful stuff. She'd originally bought it for our daughter, but decided to keep some for herself because she was so impressed by it.

Forgeholm isn't a great place for evil folks, but good folks sometimes must do evil things to maintain the peace. So, some evil acts? Sadly, yes. Evil folks? Not if we know about it!

We like cookies too! Hard to come by up here though. We need an inn!

Goblin Squad Member

We will bring some, nobody should be denied cookies... except gnomes.

You would fit in well at Keepers Pass there is a strong interest in crafting and trade in the group. Your more than welcome to pop over to the Keepers of the Circle forums as a guest and have a look around.

http://keepersofthecircle.guildlaunch.com/

Though you may have to opt for neutral not Evil :D Keepers is not into doing things the easy (evil) way.
