1 PC Campaign advice

Curse of the Crimson Throne

I'm currently starting a 1 PC Campaign now I'm considering allowing gesalt as well as having "dm" character roll with my pc's character. With out altering the path's too much do you guys think the player will be able to get through the crimson throne alone/with one other pc?

This AP could lend itself to one player if you make the right choices. The only thing you'll struggle with is book 5, which is basically a huge dungeon (or rather castle) crawl.

Some tips:
- make the one character good at interaction (diplomacy) to allow for more roleplaying and for peaceful solutions to combat situations;
- give your character a way to heal in combat;
- make sure your character can handle combat.

A paladin character might not be a bad idea: good diplomacy, some healing, good AC and decent combat abilities. I would also consider giving the character some sort of animal companion, even if he doesn't have the class ability. An animal companion will be a great help in combat, but won't get in the way of roleplaying and interaction.

I DM PC is definitely a good idea, but you should consider your options. You could go for one DM PC and stick with him/her all the time, or you could have certain NPCs join your main character on different quests, switching them from time to time. This often allows for a more personal approach to the quest(s) and gives you the opportunity to drop in the class that fits the quest best.

I asked James Jacobs this idea a long time ago and here is what he said:

Any words of wisdom for GMing Solo campaigns? Solo as in one GM and one player

Hmmm...

Make sure to avoid using monsters that do things like paralyze or stun or the like—monsters that do things that kind of require other PCs to help.

Or consider running a helper NPC for the player.

Or make that player a Mythic character once those rules are out to give the PC a much needed edge.

Thanks for the Ideas! My pc has chosen a half-elf monk, Now as a change of pace he decided to not have high CHR for once so he may be stuck at certain points. I originally had planed out a sorcerer to act as his face and adventure partner but after finishing my first read through of the adventure path I've decided to have a paladin of Iomedae join him as a sort of east meets west warrior adventure.

The following ideas for adding to is pc
-as half-elf he gets 2 favoured classes he picked monk for both(+1hp/SP per lvl)
-max hp each lvl
-mythic rules(looking over this it will help him not die a horrible horrible death)
