The committee chair, whose youngest boy just made Eagle, tried to make me feel guilty because she agreed to go on the summer High Adventure trip when the couldn’t get me to do it. Not that they actually asked me. They just kept saying they needed another adult while looking at me.
Sorry, kiddos. I’ve got health issues and a currently dead career to deal with. But mostly the health issues. I honestly don’t think I could make it through such an arduous trip.

I started to delve into the assembly of the new treadmill, but paused after reading through some of the material. They recommend that if you're going to place the treadmill on carpet, then you should have a mat underneath it. This serves several purposes: provides more stability to the treadmill, protects the carpet itself, and hopefully prevents bits of carpet fiber from working its way into the workings of the treadmill.
So the wife ordered one that Amazon ordered as a "frequently purchased with..." item for the treadmill itself. That should arrive sometime tomorrow. Then I can get to work putting this thing together.

Though I am debating asking my brother to come over and help me lift the main part of treadmill out of the box and getting it set up on the mat. That damn thing is heavier than I expected.
It almost makes me regret not paying to have it assembled. That, however, would have cost me an extra $250 and had strange people in my house for longer than I would like them to be.

Anyway, not much else planned for today. I'm going to try and drive down to the council headquarters to bring that young man's Eagle paperwork and get it signed off. And there's the required job hunting (which is mostly just a token at the moment). Later tonight, I'll have to bring the boy to the troop leadership meeting.

And for reasons I cannot fathom even in the labyrinthine corridors of my own mind, I've been jumping on Diablo IV again. I started just playing some of my fire sorcerer, who already beat the first expansion. Now I've jumped over to my original character, a barbarian named Buliwyf, and I'm taking him through the first expansion.

Hmmm...according to texts and emails, there was a fire at my daughter's school. They evacuated everyone outside while the fire department dealt with the blaze. It seems to have been an electrical fire in a storage room.
It's all taken care of now, and the students are back in class. Thankfully, it seems no one was hurt.

It appears sometimes The Universe does smile on us. James Cameron has apparently stated a fourth Avatar probably won't happen because the series has become too expensive. Meaning, I'd guess, he can't get the return on investment because most intelligent people don't give a crap about his movies anymore.

I started to apply to a job this morning. I was working my way through the process on their website, when suddenly it reset to the very first page and erased everything I had done. So I abandoned the effort and made a mental note to try and not apply to that company again. If they can't even run an application process properly, I wouldn't want to work for them.

I did have it confirmed by a current employee the engineering firm I first worked for down here is expecting a big job and will be hiring more people. Haven't seen an official announcement yet, though. I've been checking their website every day.
I'd go back to that place in heartbeat. Despite that they've let me go twice due to a lack of work. Doesn't mean I'd stop looking elsewhere, but I'd be happy to take their money while job hunting.

Speaking of former employers....
When I was applying to a job, they wanted contact information for former employers. The dude I worked part time for back from early 2022 to early 2023, basically ghosted me and went out of business. So I didn't think I had any contact info for him. Luckily, I checked some of the files I had from that job and found a phone number and address.

Which reminds me....I've got to buy a new flash drive to store all my Troop 1550 Advancement Chair files. At the moment, I've got them on my Google Drive and my home computer hard drive. I'd prefer to have something external though.
I do that for a lot of my files. Especially my family photos/videos and the maps I create.

I have to check for myself, but I heard that Smallville has now popped up on Netflix. Which is awesome. I've been wondering when that should would pop up somewhere. Been itching to watch it again. Why it isn't on HBOMax I have no idea. Probably because it would embarrass the GCU with its popularity.

Hmph. Apparently Netflix is now offering an all cash bid for WBD. While I'd prefer WBD to remain its own company and become successful on its own, I'd really not like to see Netflix get ahold of them. That would practically guarantee no decent theater time for movies, and the rewriting of certain IP roles in ways that defy cannon for the sake of identity politics.
Not that WBD has been adverse to (way more than) a little identity politics over good story telling....

The other day at the comic book store, I was perusing the dollar bin and found the first 5 of a 6 issue series from back in 1992. They were in good shape, so I bought them.
Today I ordered the final issue off a website I use. Also took the opportunity to pick up a few other one-off issues I needed. All cheap stuff, dollar-wise anyway. Huzzah!

I've probably said it before, but I despise recruiters who send me a job they think I'm a good fit for and it's obvious they didn't actually read through my resume.
It's almost as bad as when AFLAC kept sending me offers to be an insurance salesman. What in my decades of experience as an engineer makes you think I'd be good at selling insurance?!?

The wife asked whether I wanted cut up the sausage for the red beans or bring the daughter to pottery class. I chose the activity that involved a knife. And I’m very glad I did.
She dropped the daughter off and texted me. The traffic had been so horrible she decided to stay there and wait through the class.
Traffic bullet dodged!
