Speaking of something wrong...

I see that sometimes when I post it still jumps back up to the top of the page. Hopefully, whatever overhaul they're performing will fix that.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, today will be more of the usual. Grocery, comic book store, probably pick up my daughter from her art class. I may try to through in some other stuff. We shall see.

I have been wanting to go back over to the place where I had my original Kelley Jones art framed. They did such a lovely job that I had a thought...

You see, I'm in possession of an official schematic of the Saturn V rocket first stage booster. My father had it in his possession from his time at NASA (as an electrical technician) back in the 60s. It came to me after his passing.

It's been hanging in my cubicle at work for a year or two now. In some cheap frame I bought at Walmart. I've been toying with the idea of getting it professionally framed, as befits a piece of history.

Scarab Sages

Plus, I can take my signed poster art from Wagner and Jones Dracula Book II and maybe see about getting that framed as well.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, time to go off and start my day in earnest.

Scarab Sages

Even though it’s a bit ridiculously expensive these days, we hit Five Guys for lunch. Which is cool, because now I have some leftover fries to go with my leftover turkey from dinner last night. Huzzah for leftovers!!

Scarab Sages

It’s stayed cloudy and windy all day so far. Kept the temperature down, which is nice. I was kind of hoping we might at least get a bit of rain though.

Scarab Sages

Tried to FaceTime with my mother, but she didn’t answer. She must not love me anymore…..

Just kidding, but the kids get a kick out of it when I say that.

Scarab Sages

Happy Sunday?!?

Scarab Sages

Probably not completely happy. Mildly happy, if I'm lucky.

The household seems to be suffering from a case of the first cold snap blahs. Everyone's a little sniffly, some aren't sleeping well, and there are several headaches in evidence.

It's become a sort of regular occurrence when the temperatures dip for the first time. A tradition, but a reminder that not all traditions are good ones.

Scarab Sages

I did eventually talk to my mother yesterday. Turns out, she had been attending a going away party for my cousin's boy. The mother is a mormon, and the boy has adopted that religion. So he's going off on whatever missionary trip they do.

Scarab Sages

And I found out my other cousin's cancer has returned. So he's back in treatment for that. Hopefully, this will go well for him.

Scarab Sages

Also...

F$#k cancer.

Scarab Sages

I ended up not going to the framing place yesterday. My head aching a bit too much, so I stayed home and chilled. Hopefully, I can make it over there next Saturday instead.

Scarab Sages

And I did not watch my new copy of Shin Godzilla last night either. Played a bit of D2 to occupy the brain, then by the time I got off it was already after 8 pm. The boy didn't feel like watching it, by then, so neither did I. Maybe today....

Scarab Sages

What I did end up watching is the first two episodes of It: Welcome to Derry. I'm a fan of the original novel, having read it at the tender age of 14 (I still have my first edition copy) when it originally came out.

I liked original film version with Tim Curry. And I liked the more recent version, despite some idiotic changes.

This was.....different. I find I have to divorce myself from the original content, so that the liberties the show runners take, and the stupidity of the overarching plot, don't drive me crazy.

Scarab Sages

Also....

F#$k the damned government forced time change.

Scarab Sages

Seriously, I know I contemplate this every year, but it's a good point....Someone must be making money off the time changes, since there's no other reason to keep it up (other than our government's continued desire to punish us for existing).

Scarab Sages

Anyway, I had completely forgotten about the time change until my daughter came downstairs. Then I happened to look at the clocks in the kitchen, and noticed they were different from my phone.

Scarab Sages

Thankfully, the phone time is what I go by to take my medicine.

Scarab Sages

Damn! I saw that Forbes had an article saying the Willow series on Disney+ had a budget of $17 million per episode. Considering it failed so spectacularly they actually pulled the whole series from the platform, I'd say that was another in what's become a long line of money sinks by the house of mouse.

I'd laugh, if the destruction of so many once beloved franchises weren't so sad.

Scarab Sages

Ugh! Crazy dog was trying to attack the garbage bag.

Scarab Sages

And now we wait.....

Scarab Sages

Yes, I'm being cryptic. Only because I'm well aware some people would go "crying to mommy" so to speak.

Scarab Sages

Actually, I'm considering just reading for the rest of the day. I've got way too many books and such that have been piling up.

Scarab Sages

In case anyone wants to read one of the most idiotic lists of all time, the kind that helps degrade all of human civilization:

THE 200 “BEST” HORROR MOVIES OF ALL TIME

For my own sanity, I had to put the word best in quotation marks.

Scarab Sages

Happy Monday?!?

Scarab Sages

I don't think so. However, I could be proven wrong.

The little asshat was right on schedule.

Scarab Sages

Anyway, it'll be sad not to post on here for a few days. It can be very....cathartic. Not to mention it helps relieve boredom.

Scarab Sages

Hopefully, the changes won't be too drastic. I'd hate to lose all my posts and threads. Still, any changes are probably long overdue. I think the current form of the boards has been around for about 20 years. At least, that's how long I've been posting.

I think one of the biggest changes I've seen (besides cooler people being replaced by far less cool people) was the addition of the Archive section. Followed by the actual Fawtly folk helping break things so much that The Lord of All Code (R.I.P) finally found a way to let threads go on forever.

Scarab Sages

Which is kind of sad, when you see how that gift has been squandered.

Scarab Sages

Ah well, I'm being maudlin. Just without booze.

Scarab Sages

The drive to the office was okay. Not particularly bad. Not great. Fair to middlin, I'd say.

Scarab Sages

Then there was another weird occurrence when I got to the building. Dude in a pickup truck, park at the entrance the building's driveway. I went past him to the parking garage, and he moved a bit further up. As I was walking to the building, he kept pulling through towards the garage.

Before he could enter the garage, he turned to exit the driveway. Then he looped around. I had to come back down a few minutes later because I forgot the leftover Halloween candy in my vehicle, and he was parked in the garage. Weird.

Scarab Sages

He was on his phone, though, so he might have been trying to contact someone he was waiting on. The building maintenance dude was coming in around that same time, and I'm pretty sure he thought it was suspicious as well.

Scarab Sages

Maybe I'm just a magnet for weird stuff. Next thing you know, I'll come across one of those mythical homeless dudes that take craps in our stairwells.

Scarab Sages

Or so I've been told. I typically park on the ground level, so I almost never use the stairs.

Scarab Sages

And now the day is looking a bit brighter!!!

Scarab Sages

Today I solved a mystery which has haunted the depths of my mind for probably close to 40 years. I remember being a young lad and finding a supernatural horror movie on that had John Hurt as Asmodeus.

I promptly forgot about, but vague knowledge of it has returned over the decades since, encroaching on my thoughts every so often. It did so again today, so I finally decided to look it up.

Gods bless the internet. The movie Spectre, from 1977. It was a pilot developed by Gene Roddenberry - think Holmes and Watson, but (for the time) modern and investigating the occult. It wasn’t picked up for a series, but they expanded it to a sort of TV movie.

In a fit of pique because they didn't get a series, Spectre went on to attempt to conquer the world, and were defeated by James Bond.

Scarab Sages

Happy Tuesday?!?

Scarab Sages

Probably not, but I have my reasons.

Scarab Sages

For one, I feel like dog crap. Pretty sure what I thought were allergies brought on by the weather change is actually a cold. Probably picked it up this weekend.

Scarab Sages

And because I feel like dog crap, I slept poorly. Which typically makes me feel even worse.

Scarab Sages

And yesterday was a long one. Work all day. Then came home to do stuff around the house. Then went to the monthly troop committee meeting.

Scarab Sages

And today will be another long one. Work, plus a regular troop meeting tonight. And I think I'll have to force the boy to volunteer for grubmaster again. I don't think he got everything he needed signed off last time.

We'll also be hosting a bunch of AoL Cub Scouts tonight. Hopefully, they'll all crossover to the troop.

We're also going to present the Spirit of the Eagle Award to the parents of the scout who passed away awhile back. I'm sure that'll be emotional. Not for me, mind you. I'm an emotional black hole. The only thing that escapes my gravity well is annoyance (and the occasional anger) and disappointment.

And, sadly, they gave up using the occult for the efforts. Focusing instead on Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion. How boring.

Scarab Sages

I guess they're going to eventually lock the boards. I saw the initial plan of doing so yesterday was pushed off. Perhaps I should check to see if there has been an update.....

Scarab Sages

Nope. No update. Maybe later.
