Anyway, not much going on in the office as far as I know. Then again, things are occasionally kept from me by the non-engineers. Like the redlines on the mechanical package for one of the few projects currently going on. They already had them sometime last week, but if I hadn't been in the PMs office when he received them a second time, I doubt they'd have sent them to me.
I'm going to have a talk with my supervisor about that. It's getting a little annoying. And could get us in trouble.

There was a surprise vendor presentation yesterday. I found out about it when I saw one of the PMs bringing in donuts. Since I expressed interest in the donuts, and followed him asking what they were for, I got invited.
It was kind of interesting. The company does pipe and utility surveying, using everything from towed EM arrays to drones. It was neat.

Of course, I use the word "potential" in all this because my buddy is the only one I've heard it from. And it's not that I don't trust him (though I don't), but I don't see that he might be in a position to know this.
Still, there's no reason for him to lie about it. So I'll proceed as if it's true. Then perhaps act mildly surprised if/when they do tell me.

We had some horrific rain yesterday, all very sudden. Then it stayed cloudy the rest of the day, until more rain came through overnight.
Today there was a bit of misty rain and very wet roads on the drive to the office. It's supposed to turn to actual, steady rain (with, I'm sure, some once again horrific thunderstorms) in a little while. That's supposed to continue through the rest of the morning, and into late afternoon.

I brought a copy of my birth certificate to work. Need to make a digital scan of it so I can send it to the Wyoming office for professional engineers. I need to get my license in that state, now that the youngster is leaving us.
I should be able to do all that today. Much like Louisiana (of all places), Wyoming seems to have their heads on straight. Everything is online. Hopefully, that means it won't take long to actually get the license.

Woot! I passed the rules and regulations test for my Florida PE license. They give you 15 chances to get 90%. I got 100% on my first try.
And I've got my Wyoming license submitted. The only pain the butt part of that was I had to get three licensed references and send them each a form to fill out. They then send the form directly to Wyoming.

And I've got a busy day as is, even without anything extra. I've got to hit the grocery store sometime this morning. And then make sure the boy gets all his summer camp packing done. Which could also mean making some last minute runs to various stores to pick up small items such as bug spray and sunscreen.

Still, we did have great (though expensive) luck yesterday. The boy and I (with his sister in tow) hit REI and picked up almost all of the last bits of gear he needs: new hiking shoes, two pair synthetic pants, two synthetic, long sleeve shirts, two pair of synthetic hiking socks, a new headlamp (to replace one that got eaten), and a portable seat for the canoe.

I’ve got to have more discussions with the boy about not just trusting everything he reads on the internet. He started spouting off about Nintendo being able to take the Switch 2 away from people, and that people couldn’t own it.
Reality is, of course, a little different and far more complicated. There’s a lot of unpleasant stuff about their new EULA, but I can see why they might have gone down that road. When you have an international market, the legal shenanigans and regulations you have to deal with can get…..interesting. Especially when you deal with certain countries that may not value freedom and free markets so much, a list which seems to grow sadly larger every year.
A certain Asian country that absolutely does NOT engage in mass state control and was totally NOT to blame for a horrific disease comes to mind.
