It's one of those growing flaws in modern society.
I was just commenting the other day to someone closer to my own age how kids these days would never have survived our childhood. They're too weak.
My coworker just showed me a trailer for a game called Ghost of Yotei. It's a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. I haven't played that first game, though what I've seen of it impressed me.
Maybe I'll give it a shot once I'm done with my second play through of Baldurs Gate 3. Although, by then it might be time to revisit Diablo IV, since the expansion is coming in October.
Almost time to make the donuts.
Actually, we are having a special birthday breakfast here in the office today. It's Chick-Fil-A though, so I probably won't partake of it. Bad Juju.
Or, at the least, decent Thursday. So far. Got up and moving okay. Had a really good drive in to work. Except for the lingering cough and dealing with a young putz, this morning has been fairly adequate.
I am leaving early today. By about 2 hours. The dog isn't feeling well, so the wife made an appointment with the vet to come out to the house around 3:00 this afternoon to look at her. Since they'll have to sedate her, I need to be there.
Had a discussion with my coworker this morning about what an "asshat" might actually look like. He said maybe hairy, unless it's Brazilian. It was an interesting conversation.
Personally, I'm pretty sure one would resemble a certain poster who consistently seeks my attention, to the point of being pathetic.

"Just go consume product, then get excited for next product."
Goddamn clapping seal.
The wife and I finished our rewatch of Wednesday on Netflix. As always, I found it to be a fun, well-written show. The correct mix of gothic and quirky.
Anyway, I suppose I could get ready to do work stuff.

It is considered a literal national treasure and one of the best stories and the most breathtakingly beautiful game I've ever played.
It's one of the few games I've finished.
Happy Friday?!? It's a pretty day weather-wise, but there's so much crap going on, I can't call it a happy day.
To start - work is insane at the moment.
Then there's me trying to obtain my PE license in other states. I've got almost everything I need, except one additional professional reference. It's got to be someone with an active PE license. I was going to get my buddy from Philly, but when he checked this morning his license had been inactive since 2021. He's trying to fix that, but if I want to move forward I've likely got to find someone else.
Then there's still me trying to get over this stupid seasonal virus. I've still got a lingering cough, and one of my nostrils keeps having a bit of blood in it.
And finally there's......the dog.
We knew she was feeling bad, and she had some skin lesions near her tail, so the wife made an appointment with our mobile vet for yesterday afternoon. I came home early for that. They had to sedate her, which was a struggle.
Turns out the dog has fleas really bad, because the wife and I each thought the other person was giving her the flea medicine she's supposed to get once a month. That's what was contributing to the skin lesions, which were infected. She had a fever. The worst part was the vet thought her x-rays showed a possible problem with her uterus, and she recommended emergency surgery.
So then I spent most of yesterday evening into the night at the animal hospital. They did blood work, urinalysis, and more xrays. Didn't find anything super wrong. They gave her some medicine to give her for the infected skin lesions, and will do further tests on her urine to rule out a UTI.
With all that, I didn't get back home until nearly 10 pm, and I never had dinner.
Then this morning it was the joy of giving the dog all her medicine. She doesn't like taking medicine.
So it's been a hell of a Thursday and Friday already.
I thought I was going to have to go into the office for a bit, because several documents need to be signed and stamped. My supervisor told me they can wait until Monday.
I did have to come up with a revised justification for a variance on one of the projects we did. Apparently, everyone (including me), missed the pipe spec not allowing socket welded reducing tees of a certain size. Very annoying. The fittings should be more than robust enough for the system design pressure and temperature, however. And the piping has already passed a hydrotest with no leaks.
The problem with my first writeup was that it mentioned some welding stuff, and the client's welding engineer picked it apart. In my defense, I'm nowhere near any kind of expert on welding. I had just relied on some writeups I found online.
My Friday at least ended up mostly decent. Got a lot of work done. Was able to visit the cleaners. Had some Popeyes for lunch and BBQ for dinner. And I received a delivery from Amazon.
The delivery was the 4k version of 2001: A Space Odyssey. It had been brought to mind on Thursday, so I ordered it. Was surprised to get it so quickly.
So that’s what I watched last night. After it was over, I played a little Diablo 2, just for the hell of it.
The only real downside to yesterday happened when I went to get lunch and hit the cleaners. My truck interior still smells a bit from the dog fiasco Thursday night. So I opened the moonroof for some fresh air.
And it wouldn’t close.
I did eventually…..persuade it to close. Now I’ll have to take it into the dealership at some point for a looksee. I’m pretty sure I know what the vicinity of the problem is. There’s a sensor associated with the moonroof to check for obstructions when it closes. I think either that’s gone a little cuckoo, or the part of the locking mechanism that lowers as the window is almost closed is messed up.
Either way, that’s yet another problem on my list of problems to eventually get fixed. It’s not too bad at the moment. As long as I don’t need the moonroof open for anything.
I also spoke to my brother yesterday. He tried to convince me my kids would love Warhammer.

Where the f$@k did my post go?
Aaarrrrggghhhhh….. looks like the website is acting up. Again.
Anyway. Happy Sunday. AGAIN!
Today has already been even busier.
And it will remain that way. This posting time is just a brief lull.
Already this morning we’ve had:
Giving the dog her medicine.
Playing a bit of BG3 while having coffee.
Giving the dog a bath.
Cleaning off the pad the dog has in her kennel.
Shower and shave.
Washing the first of many loads of clothes.
I’ve still got several more loads of clothes to wash. And I might try to put up some Halloween decorations. And do some other cleaning up.
Somewhere in there I might even try to get some reading done.
Later tonight it’ll be grilling burgers for dinner. Afterwards I’ll watch the new episode of The Penguin.
The dog is still a little damp. But she’s clean(ish), so that’s something.
We'll see.
It's certainly going to be a busy Monday. I've got five documents to sign and stamp. I've got drawings to supervise getting ready for issue. I'm sure there are several other things I can't think of at the moment.
I managed to put up my Halloween decorations yesterday. The kids helped. Well, the boy helped mostly. The girl helped a bit, then found her old scooter in the garage and road that around.
I also ended up washing like five loads of clothes. It could have been six, but I decided to leave the last load until today.
Thankfully, I also managed to read through all my new comics as well.
