After the DM said how they wanted to introduce the character the happy envoy would be too funny not to do given your plan here.

Also Guess? has the market covered on small snarky mobsters. :)

Not that Strek will suggest this, but I like Akh's suggestion, and we could toss the remaining hobgoblin directly into the road to add to the ruse.

If the hobgoblins don't stop, they run over the body and kill him for us. If they stop, then we get away.

Just I case it wasn't obvious, the holoskin also makes Akh look medium sized. So Akh should look like some generic medium sized dwarf. He won't look like a large sized dwarf.

M Large Canine Level 3 druid

The goblin might use blood to deck out a murdervehicle. Melissa certainly wouldn't think of anything that dark.

I seriously want that as a bumper sticker now, and then see how much less I get tailgated (vs. pulled over...)

I think the size difference does strain the disguise a little , as major features, race, and creature type the hologram negates the penalty for and size seem to be different categories. But hopefully they'll be too busy ducking to notice that the universes graphics are clipping a bit :)

Sorry, y'all! I probably could have presented it better. Part of it is that your characters know less than the hobgoblins about the surrounding area so they're able to outmaneuver you a little easier. Another issue is that this isn't a Vehicle Chase, even though it is presented as such. It's more of a dungeon on wheels, with waves of enemies coming after you. But essentially it comes down to this:

You're driving up a one lane road at near-top speed (having to slow down at certain points since you're unfamiliar with the terrain/curves/etc.). You're being followed by a second truck who is going at top speed. Your diversion (body + radio shenanigans) has bought you a ten minute break, that you didn't really need since you dispatched the goblins pretty easily. Since the other truck isn't right on your back, you don't need piloting checks for this moment. But, since this is a one lane road where you both have the same vehicles you can't really out run or hide from the second truck. And because they have a radio, they'll be able to update the reinforcements on your location.

You're about an hour's drive away from the base and about 11 minutes away from the fork that splits the road away from the route leading to the armory and towards the rebel base. If you take that fork while going fast enough (successful piloting checks) you'll lose the other truck, who will continue on the other direction and not be able to catch up. As for the helicopter reinforcements... they'll be lightly armored compared to these trucks and have fewer people on them.

So, mechanically, you have a few options:
1. Slow down to allow the second truck to catch up and fight them. They have 6 hobgoblins, so it will be significantly more difficult than the last fight. The following truck cab's cover and the changing distance between the two vehicles will add complexity as well. Then, with some successful piloting checks you could get far enough away that the enercopters can't find you in time.
2. Keep going and you'll fight the reinforcements being ferried in on enercopters when they arrive, being harassed a little from the truck behind you. Good piloting checks mean you'll lose the truck at the fork and only be dealing with the enercopters.

You could probably maintain your cover as "rebels" under either option.

Ha, this author did a great job of preparing for anything and allowing player ownership. An excerpt: "If the PCs easily defeat this encounter, another enercopter shows up". Not that I think 6 hobgoblins with cover would be "easily defeated" but you never know. y'all handled the first two quickly.

M Large Canine Level 3 druid

well a group going full galt on the other gobbos and not keeping up a ruse might run over there and negate the cover rather quickly.

Grand Lodge

Slides

Yeah, let's go over that...

Akh, Guess? and Melissa are disguised as rebels. Jaraduk and Del are within the cab, we'll assume that means the Giderons can't get a good look at them. So the only person remaining is Strek. Do brakim look close enough to humans that he could be misidentified as a human rebel? His height (7.5 feet average) and gangly arms would be the biggest problem, from a distance.

I'm thinking Strek could hide using Stealth or be human-like using Disguise? I'm open to ideas, I really like your guys' concept.

Melissas disguise is ironically worse than Guesses, like charlie chaplin coming in second in his own look alike contest....

Strek could play dead

A brakim behind a box, prone, with a tarp over him would look fairly human. Most people would be paying a lot more attention to the gun pointing out. Melssa has a blanket she could donate to the ruse if we don't have a spare tarp.

Whoops. This is what I get for reading the Discussion thread after posting in the Gameplay thread.

I think Brakim look very human when not doing their stretchy shenanigans. Especially at a distance and when wearing heavy armor. And with Strek's history of catering to his Azlanti overlords, I would think his mannerisms, posture and whatnot have adapted to be human-like.

But his Charisma IS 08 and he doesn't have any Charisma-based Disguise or Bluff skills so I'm fine if you rule that he stands out.

Note also that Guess? DID previously ask Strek to stay out of sight by heading into the cab with Jaraduk. But either Nefreet missed it or Strek decided, 'Nah.'

I like to think it's the later. Haha!

Either way though, I'm glad Strek ended up outside... I think we need the firepower to deal with these two enercopters.

To clarify, yes there is room for one more Medium creature in the cab. Strek can run there if you want? No ret-conning unfortunately, due to your sweet sweet attack roll in round 1.

Speaking of Round 1, I know the setup for this fight scene was confusing mechanics-wise but I'm so glad the author put it in here. This is an epic action sequence.
