Hey

In my high-level group the players will probably get a staff of life next session.

Can they free of charge (I know it costs 5 charges...) Use raise dead 1/5days or will it cost them 5000 gp worth of diamond each time?

No material component cost when casting off a staff, its part of the reason that one is so expensive.

The material component costs are already paid when creating the staff. 50,000 gp of the staff of life's cost is for enough material components to sustain the staff casting raise dead at 5 charges a pop. If your party members die a *lot* (over 20 deaths per campaign), it might actually be worth it over the course.
