Alpha: Craft and Profession skills?

So Alpha testers, what Craft and Profession skills are available, and was anyone able to craft anything?

Crafters everywhere are eager to know! :)

From what I heard when I was on TS with a few Alpha players, not many people seem to be playing around with those systems quite yet sadly.

I'm interested to see what kind of resource diversity the game already has.

I was trying to gather some ore with which to get started but never found any. Found a decent amount of coal but no iron ore so couldn't make even a single steel bar.

Others reported the same.

There are currently no starting Crafters, meaning you have to buy all the skills. And since you lose your exp when you log out...its really tough to actually play with the craft system.

The skills don't seem to be the problem. It doesn't take long to get the XP for basic levels of the crafting skills. The problem is the lack of materials.

Goblinworks, have you removed the base crafting materials from the loot tables in the nodes? I even tried taking a level or two of Miner to see if that would get iron ore to spawn but to no avail.

Sorry to hear the difficulty of crafting on day 1, I'm more interested in the list of those two key skills...

You should check the Instructions for Life thread. The document there has a section on crafting, including a list of the kinds of crafting that can be done

Chemicals are extremely common, so have a much higher drop chance from nodes until a lot of them are gathered. If a bunch of people hit one of the mountain hexes and start gathering, you'll probably lower the Cinnabar ratings and increase the chance Iron Ore will drop.

We have a few known issues right now that will make crafting harder in the current build:
* You can't get craft skills over 2, because crafting achievements aren't in.
* Several of the crafting facilities, including the weaponsmith and armorsmith, don't have working doors so you can't actually bring up the crafting interface.
* You're not getting default recipes when you learn the skill, so all the +0 refining recipes and most common pieces of gear are unavailable to craft.

The second and third should be fixed for the next build, and the first may take a little while (or we may temporarily take the achievement requirement off).

But you can refine if you get the materials and recipes.

Follow-up:

There is a recent Alpha document that covers the basic of crafting, a player made document that covers many game details, lots of recent dev. responses to many crafting and resource related questions, a few blogs(very outdated) with crafting and hex resources info & POI/Outpost resource details. There are also a few separate forum threads with crafting related info, some Idea Scale postings, and a few Lee/Tork gobo casts with new info.

Just to make sure, there hasn't been any ONE source where all this information has been complied, updated and made easy to understand, correct?

If it exists, I haven't seen such a resource.

If it doesn't exists, and no one is making one, I will work on such a reference. But I want to check first to make sure I am not duplicating effort needlessly. :)

@Giorgia, Cheatle has put together a couple of Guides, and so has Goblinworks. There is also a Google Docs Folder Pathfinder Online (Public) that has a wealth of information.

If you're willing to put in the effort it takes to compile this information, I humbly encourage you to make it available on pfo.pathfinderwiki.com.

Cheatle's user guide has a thorough crafting howto as well as links to recipe lists and other source data.

If you feel that there's important information that's been left out of that guide, you could either assemble your own or offer him your suggestions.

No one has ever called me "@Giorgia" before, I am flattered. (Grin)

When I wrote "a player made document that covers many game details" it was Cheatle's excellent work I was thinking about, I just didn't have the link on hand (I had 1 hour to find it and edit my post!).

I am considering the wiki; but first I want to see what has already been made available, before undertaking such a large task (on the weekend). :)

Sorry, sometimes typing 90 wpm has its drawbacks... I'm relieved you weren't offended :)

Crafting is rocking!

You can craft a wide variety of arms & armor. You can craft implements (but they don't do anything yet since the consumables system has not yet been deployed). You can craft wizard staves and wands, and cleric divine magic casting items.

The whole crafting system is implemented - you harvest raw materials, process them into components, and use the components to make finished goods, which you can equip and use in-game. Now we just focus on making a lot more "objects" for this system!

Currently there is only one source of Coal in the game - the "honeyhole" hex in the upper left corner of the map. Since coal is required for most of the metal items, those of us who have been crafting those metal objects have spent a lot of time in that hex. :) I heard a rumor that Lee is changing the drop percentages so that more Coal will appear in a week or two.

All the basic trainers are in the game now for harvesting skills, processing skills, and crafting skills. All the basic facilities are in the game to process raw materials and craft finished goods. There's a known bug that has affected the Tannery in Sotterhill, but the Tannery in Osterberg works so that crafting chain is open, you just have to make a little journey when you need something in the other Settlement.

Yes, I did set an alarm on my calendar so I would know when my first suit of + armor was crafted so I could log in and try it on. :) And it was awesome.

How convienent that you can log in as soon as your armor finishes, but I have to wait until Thursday.

Wow, tried to submit an edit but it just double posted and now I can't edit or delete...

Congratulations on your plus armor, did it also come with plus artwork?

Edit: And now both posts are gone... bad forum.

Q#1: Where do the Architect, Officer, Seneshal and Soldier train?

Goblin Squad Member

You're missing the 7 refining skills: smelter, gem cutter, tanner, weaver, sage, sawyer, apothecary.

The 4 settlement/social skills do not have a training location yet.

Added the refining skills, good catch, thanks! :)

Which are the 4 social skill?

I was referring to these:
