An interest check. Evil by Necessity.

Recruitment

Dark Archive

I am planning and this is still a bit away. An evil campaign where the villians aren't trying to take over the world they are trying to save it.

In this world the shinning light of law and good have won. The world is so fsr out of balance its at risk of merging with the very heavens. And if it does everyone who isnt a shinning bastion of good will convert or die. It is to this world our villians have been called. Somehow they must bring great evil back to the world or its all over. They for once have allies druids of all stripes and in fact everyone who is primarily neutral. The problem being these folks have become rare on this world.

So anyone think they might be interested? If not I will put this away to use on my home group.

It does sound interesting, though setting up motivation for this could be an interesting case of moral gymnastics.

I might not mind an excuse to slaughter innocents and beat the schnapps out of a bunch of uppity goodiegoodies... I'll check back in soon :D

Dark Archive

If you ever read the book evil by necessity that's where the idea comes from. The premise interests me I am just unsure it it interests others. Which is why I'm checking before I do the lions share of the work.

It an interesting idea, players usually want to play an evil character and sometimes too much good can be a bad thing

Dark Archive

Well it was an interesting book. Just hope I can do it justice. Of course this won't parallel the book just took the base idea. There is no magic evil gate unless the pcs somehow make one.

If you put up a recruitment, I'll submit a character

Dark Archive

It will probably be most of a mouth th before thag happens.

Raise the leader of a group of those uppity goody 2 shoes as your undead servant and cripple morale and resistance.

That aside:
This sounds alot of fun.

If this starts a recruitment i'm submitting something.

This indeed does sound interesting. I have plenty of ideas for evil characters that would normally not see the light of day.

Not sure my other evil campaign is going to start at all, so this sounds awesome. If anyone knows about the ending of the wheel of time series I know how bleak a goody two shoes world would be ;).

I have a character sketched out that would fit this campaign nicely.

He's an archaeologist bard, who specializes is the Dark Elder Evil lore and artifacts.

He's not a psychopath, or even sadistic. Instead, he sees the forbidden knowledge associated with Evil as being valuable, and is motivated to restore its presence to a world that has deliberately suppressed it for millennia. Essentially, he's a Miskatonic University investigator who actually wants the Elder Gods to return.

He'd actually be more Chaotic Neutral, than evil, but nevertheless aligned with the party's goals.

This is Bennevy Innswell. I still need to write his back story, and I haven't purchased all of his gear, as I am not certain how much we have to work with.

I'm curious as to how all the evil has been so effectively suppressed.

What type of creation rules do you have in mind concerning races classes etc?

You had me at 'evil campaign'. I am liking the twist on things though. We can't take over the world if it's destroyed, so lets save the world first, then take it over when everyone is thanking us for being their saviour.

You are the resistance lol.

I meant the resistance of any goody 2 shoes who'd try to stop you.

Example, a goody 2 shoes militia trying to resist your upcoming plans.
Hence, kill militia leader, raise as zombie servant and strike down a demoralized militia.

Think the way Talengarde is in the way of the wicked now let it expand over the whole world and put an immortal assimar king on the throne. There are still evil people and a dew monsters but they are so few and far in between that as far as balance goes they dont matter. And for who puts you together I thinking a great druid or someone similar gathers you all up. They wouldn't want to the world slide any further out of balance because it isnt healthy for it.

As for creation rules probably a fairly high point buy and gestalt. But like I said I won't be doing this for awhile. School will be starting soon and I still have alot of work to do. Now thag I know I will get players I will actually do the work heh.

Damn those Talengaridans. Why has no one stopped them until now? *shakes fist* Guess those ex-prisoners failed and now it's up to the next generation to save the day.

Interesting, the premise is such that you could have PCs of every alignment. LG would be the only alignment that would be hard to fit but even there you could have people who don't want people to convert or die.

Honestly this. Exactly this. Pretty much.

And yeah you could but due to what they are having to do their alignments would shift to evil over time. So again evil by necessity.

Silver Crusade

I like it, I have been wanting to play an evil enchantress but cannot find the right campaign

I am interested. Not quite sure what I would make yet, but that will come as we learn more. Looking forward to evil!

I'm thinking of an evil cleric or maybe some powerhungry manipulative type. Prove that evil isn't so bad and more liberating.

Personally I would love to see an inversion of the called-to-greatness type of story. I was nust a normal, if slightly cruel, farmer's son until one day... and I became a paragon of evil.
Still would need to see more to be sure aabout role/class.

I have a number of character ideas I could submit for this sort of thing. ^^ I do enjoy dealing with morals and the effects thereof, and somewhat reluctantly doing bad things in order to provide a better balance in the world could actually be a lot of fun. XD

I have been meaning to try my hand at playing an evil character, this could be fun.

I'm thinking either an evil power-hungry sorcerer (or Arcanist if allowed), a necromancer cleric, or maybe something from the Advanced Class Guide that's coming up.

What sort of books are you thinking of allowing? And have you considered the possibility of using Mythic rules? Conservation of Ninjutsu states that since so little evil remains in the world, it should be extremely concentrated in those that remain, no?

Liberty's Edge

Hmmm...would a neutral druid be acceptable? One that sees the need...but isn't evil...per se?

It's not like I can't play an evil character...but the druid looks interesting, given the situation...

Liberty's Edge

Oh, heck...why not just get brutally Lovecraftian and do my best for the Elder Gods... >:}>

Highly interested in playing a half-maddened cleric, turned away from the light by a prophetic vision of the material plane's doom at the hands of this holy empire.

They would probably be best represented as a Human Cleric with the Demon & Destruction domains, the build would be focused on hitting things very hard with my big pointy stick.

Though, since this evil uprising is inspired by a desire to save the world from slipping too far out of balance, isn't our motivation good from a moral perspective?

This seems like a very interesting idea for a campaign. I'd love to participate... Maybe a Magus assassin who knows he wouldn't survive the fusion of the material plane with heavens.

Sovereign Court

I would not mind playing a Changeling Witch, a child born of one of one of the few hags left after the Witch Hunters nearly wiped out the species. She's driven to not see her species come to an end by restoring the darkness to the world allowing her species to thrive once again.

I was highly interested in this idea and then you said gestalt. I will think about what to apply with. A New Hope, for the darkside!

I am interested i have an idea for a cleric of Calistria.

Is this 3PP friendly? I have a very cool idea, but it requires 3PP material!

Divineshadow, are you still with us? I have been waiting for additional info so as to be able to start building a concept. You haven't posted in a while. Are you going to run this?

This sounds pretty cool. Dotting.
