New to this Sub last April, so I got the last two promo cards, but not any of the earlier ones. Is there any way to get them now?

I saw a list of the cards somewhere on the boards, but I forgot to save the link and now I can't find it. Can anyone help?

Sovereign Court

The only way to get the older promo cards now is through places like eBay. The possibility of future rerelease was mentioned I think, but I think it's unlikely since guaranteed promos is a big thing for subscribers.

As for what you're missing --

Poog of Zarongel (Ally)
Fire Sneeze (Spell)
Dance With Squeely Nord (Barrier)
Grindylow (Monster)
Blessing of Zarongel (Blessing)
Birdcruncher Crown (Item)

If I remember the order correctly, you have the Goblin Plate (Armor) and Horsechopper (Weapon).

I don't know how hard it is to find later promo cards at reasonable prices, but I know even though I started my subscription when the second adventure was being shipped, Fire Sneeze and Poog of Zarongel (released with the game) both cost me $10-15 each)

Here is where Vic hinted they might be implementing a method to acquire the un-used promo card.

Here is the FAQ entry with the cards and the order in which they were released.

Thanks for the info and the links.

Ten to fifteen bucks, eh? Given what I've spent on PF stuff since I discovered it in March, that's a drop in the bucket. OTOH, maybe I oughta slow down a bit. :-)

Those two are probably at least 20 a pop now, as old as they are. Can't say for sure though, eBay doesn't want to load for me.

I have bought both on ebay for something like 25 (for both) last week, and I considered it a deal?:). I would say 15 each should be the target.

I have almost all of them now. I am only missing the Grindylow. I am not sure if I want to get it, though. There has been mentioned a couple times that S&S will feature grindylows instead of goblins, which has me a little concerned that getting the promo might now be completely worth it. However, if I ever see one for the right price, I might just pick it up.

I dreaded running into the grindylow on approach to thistletop :-) it's rough on the goblin fortress and if we hadn't have encountered the henchman first, it was two cards lower XD

Sovereign Court

Erixian just remember that the S&S Grindylows won't be the same card. The promo Grindylow is unique. Obviously I haven't seen the S&S one, but I don't think Paizo would say "Yea, that special promo card? We're shoving six of them into the next set"

Currently I don't have any promo at home, but I have Ranzak, Grindylow, and now Dance with the Squealy Nord (big thanks to Hawkmoon !) on the way.

It would be nice if I could acquire the others, but I don't van to pay 15-25 per card.

Also, on Evilbay promos often come with a ridiculous 25-45 USD delivery cost... for a single card ! (as a comparison, the delivery cost for a GMT magazine from Paizo's site was less then 5 USD)

So it seems unlikely that I will be able to finish the collection, except if they really appear on Paizo.com for some reasonable price.

I would agree that I don't think they would do it, but perhaps it might be the case. I would hope that it would be a unique card and that we wouldn't see it in future sets, but we just don't know.

Speaking of promos, I don't think we have heard anything on whether or not it is recommended that we play with all promos in the AP. For instance, should I bring my RotR promos into S&S, or should they remain separate?

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

The Grindylow card does not appear in S&S.

Shifting a few promos between sets won't hurt anything, but I personally will leave the RotR promos with RotR and the S&S promos with S&S.

Awesome, this is exactly what I needed to know. So why would you leave the RotR promos in the set and not carry them over? Is there a particular reason, other than the fact that they were created to compliment each other?

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

I see them as things of a kind with the AP.

Also, I imagine that a few years on, if you're dropping three years' worth of promo cards into a new box when you open up the first adventure deck, that might have some impact on the game...

You have convinced me. I guess I thought about adding ones from RotR, but not from 4 or 5 sets. That would probably affect the game in a very interesting way. I might have to try it that way once just to see what happens.

THIS Grindylow won't be in S&S? Or there won't be any monster called Grindylow? Because I'm running the first adventure of the RPG with my group, and I'm at a point where I'm not sure how it could not have them?

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

It's important to us that cards be defined by their names*, so we won't make a new card called just "Grindylow."

There will be new grindylows in S&S, but they won't be called just "Grindylow."

*The exception to this is characters. There will be multiple character cards with the same character name; you can distinguish between them by adding the set name in front. For example, Rise of the Runelords Valeros, Skull & Shackles Valeros, and Fighter Class Deck Valeros are three different cards.

Sovereign Court

Ok , fair enough. You had me a little concerned there!! Just give them robotic heads and call them Grindylow 2.0. There's absolutely no flaw with that plan, right?

I look forward to running a two man team in Skull & Shackles -- Valeros, meet Valeros.

Why not get the class deck and run a team of 3 Valerosi?

Sovereign Court

Oh. My. God. I forgot about the class decks, and the Fighter is one I'm getting! Best party ever.

So good until you have to succeed at a Wisdom or Intelligence check. I mean, you will punch through everything, don't get me wrong, but you will more than likely need to corner the villain in locations that you cannot close to beat the scenarios.

That just means you get to chase down the villain and punch him again! And again, and again... I don't see a downside ;)

Had a similar situation with Valeros and Ranzak when I had two different locations with Sirens, which were the last two open. Very rough scenario to beat. I spent a lot of turns doing nothing but setting up for the inevitable.
