Looking into joining a guild, looking for a respectful, "grown up" group

One of the biggest problems I have with the online games has been the people on it. I am looking to avoid the immature crowd, and tired of people who are disrespectful, racist, or in general rather unpleasant attitude.

I tend to be a bit quiet until I have something specific to say. I do have access to several VOIP options (Vent, Mumble, G+, TeamSpeak, Raidcall, Skype). If you want a voice-call to see how the fit is, please message me and I'll join up. I am West Coast, so would likely be on evenings in that time zone.

Unbelievable that some people behave that way. Truly despicable. ;-(

Hi Muertog. I think you've come to the right place. There are plenty of mature players here. I suggest a better picture of who you're looking for might help people approach. Lawful, chaotic, good, evil? Are you looking for a lot of roleplaying, or to keep your finger on the trigger?

PvP? ... PvE? The good folks here on this forum are glad to guide you on the path. :-)

Indeed, welcome. It might come down to what play-style you're interested in. You might join the The Seventh Veil's teamspeak to discuss what options you might have - their server is open to a lot of associated companies (guilds), including ours (shameless plug: Deathwatch). Anyone online there would be happy to discuss what you're interested in doing in PFO, and they should be able to find a nice fit. Nihimon and a few others here can easily provide that teamspeak info, if you're interested.

Yes, you may also consider the UnNamed Company... A lot of great guys who aren't too childish to speak their minds, I think you'd love it there.

The Empyrean Order is dedicated to positive gameplay, both in and out of game. We're a fun group, and already have a settlement secured in the land rush. Check out our recruitment thread, we'd love to have you!

I'd probably take a look at the Guild Land Rush Leaderboard, it's an easy place to see a settlement's alignment, description, location and size. I'd also keep an eye on the boards to get a sense of who's who. I don't think there's any rush to commit to anyone unless they really need that vote in the land rush.

Actually, it shows very few alignments. Only 2 of the top 40 put their alignment in their name.

In their name sure, but a lot are in the descriptions

LOL I love how this turned into a "new guy, lets fight over him" thread.

Seriously though, welcome to the forums, lots of good info here and as others above have said, there seam to be a large gathering of mature players here. Granted, we only can account for those posting on these threads, individual companies could possibly add those on their respective VOIP. I would suggest taking some time to consider the questions posted above, concerning the role you would be interested in playing in PFO and find a suitable company to join based on that. A mature group is something I would use to narrow the list down after you make that first choice.

And yes, the UNC (Unnamed Company) and the settlement or Aragon are a bunch of mature and vocal players who understand and wish to bring a viable and meaningful "Bad guy" to PFO. If you wish to learn more about UNC and/or the settlement Aragon (we have several companies with different views and goals) feel free to PM me and as. Xeen and Bluddwolf are also available if you don't feel safe talking to me, I am a renowned assassin after all. :-)

If Muertog looks for mature players, Fult would recommand the thread Forum reader age. They are quite rare in the 55-60 area, though.

You might look up Taur-im-duinath. We are mostly adults with families and so mostly mature. We are an Elvish settlement with several different companies with different interests to choose from.

Appreciate the suggestions and the comments. :) I'll definitely look over each of them tomorrow.

If you favour taking on the dangers of the surroundings, rather than fighting other players, a good fit could be Thod's Friends, currently in 11th place, in hex V, close to the Emerald Spire.

Our intention is to create a Pathfinder Lodge, for the exploration of the Spire, and to maintain a politically-neutral settlement around it, to keep access open for the whole playing community. We also intend to trade for historical artefacts with those exiting the dungeon, so as to build up a library of knowledge for posterity.

That's not to say there'll be no player vs player conflict, but it's less likely to be initiated by us. If anyone wants to start trouble within our borders, they will find out why provoking a town of dedicated monster hunters is a bad idea.

The members are all well-known to each other in real life, being a selection of European Pathfinder Society players, GMs and Venture Officers, most of whom have met and gamed together in person.
That should ensure a polite, supportive group, with an emphasis on the in-game Society's goals of 'Explore, Report, Cooperate!'.

Snorter is a good man. Thod's friends as well are good people.

just putting that out there.

You have a mighty fine proboscis for the truth, there, Brother.

I wish more of the locals shared your wisdom.

Goblin Squad Member

Alas, if they all did I would not be here no?

Scarab Sages Goblin Squad Member

Perhaps you could use your well-honed powers of persuasion upon them?

Goblin Squad Member

No, Brother Zael! Don't persuade me! Anything but that!

Dark Archive Goblin Squad Member

Try the comfy pizzle-pincher!

Goblin Squad Member

Jazzlvraz,

you don't need persuading. You are right were I need you...

If you want to do evil Golgotha is the only dedicated option at the moment.

As others have said, most of the groups seem to be generally mature and level-headed people. It's more about what you want to do with your character, in my opinion.

I was trying to go for the "higher road" and not shamelessly self-promote like everyone else. XD

Do you mean mature in age or emotionally mature? Big difference between the two. You read enough posts, you figure out who the emotionally mature ones are. :-)

From what I know, the gamers here in the EE/land rush are from teens to middle/late 50s. Probably some older but I haven't asked everyone what their ages are as it starts to get depressing after awhile. [54 here]

Went into shock when I was chating online with another gamer while working together and she had no idea who George Burns or John Denver were and had never heard of Gilligan's Island or the movie Oh God.

What I can look forward to now, when I retire in 15 years or so, is going to a senior center knowing lots of older gamers will be there too! lol

Oh yeah. Check out Hammerfall too. We might be a fit for you.

Good point. For some folks, "a mature gaming group" means a group with no kids in it so they can curse without worrying about it. For other folks, "a mature gaming group" means folks who often have kids and don't feel a need to constantly talk a blue streak.
