After the second or third time I misinterpreted the position of a guild in the land rush because the icons aren't labeled, I decided to fix that problem.

Labeled Land Rush Map

Mouse over a settlement, and a little box will pop up containing the name of the guild that currently holds it, a link to their page in the list of guilds, and the letter of the settlement.

Initial scale is 25%. A full size version can be seen by clicking "larger". Sorry, no fancy zoom effects, they would have made developing it a lot slower.

Guild icons can hidden or revealed with a checkbox.

Please note that I do not have permission from Goblinworks to do this, so this is totally unofficial, not affiliated with them in any way, and please don't sue me into little bits. I hopefully point out that I'm not hosting the images (they're still on the Goblinworks site) and it's all in service of furthering a community of people who are going to give Goblinworks lots of money over time.

Also, Goblinworks, if you'd like to adapt my code for use in your own map, help yourself! It's all there in view source. Nothing terribly fancy. And, as mentioned, integrating it with your zooming function would require a good bit more JavaScript than I'm using.

I'll need to update this each time another round passes, so there will be a delay after each draft till I can do so.

EDIT: Oh, and what's that guild symbol at position T? It wasn't labeled in the legend on the Goblinworks site.

As a note, this map works well for the members of the community that are Colorblind as well, as I know the GW official map has a few problems as far as that goes.

Goblin Squad Member

Bless you. This is *so* much easier to work with!

Grand Lodge Goblin Squad Member

Out of memory I would think T was Phantasmagoria. They have now joined Les Compagnons.
So this means there should be an empty slot.

Goblin Squad Member

Very nice. Thanks!

Thod is correct. "T" should be probably be shown as something like "Abandoned" as the members have moved elsewhere.

Liberty's Edge Goblin Squad Member

Really neat map. Thanks.

Excellent work.

Will use this a lot in the next few weeks.

Can you add to each tooltip the alignment of each settlement? It would be nice if you could include the size but I don't think GW has made the XML data from the Leaderboard page available so the size would need constant manual updating.

Goblin Squad Member

Sure, I can do alignment. Is that listed someplace centrally, or just on each guild page?

Goblin Squad Member

Caldeathe's excellent spreadsheet

Goblin Squad Member

Map updated to add alignments.

I thought about adding settlement name, but held off because it doesn't seem SUPER relevant at this point.

Goblin Squad Member

Good lookin' work, thanks for sharin'!

+1

Thank you, Tinalles!

I thought you listed Ozem's Vigil as evil; I now understand that E was the hex label. ;)

It's a premonition of what's to come. A group like that turning into Anti-Paladins over night? Epic story.

Goblin Squad Member

Thank you for this.

It is worth noting that the map has been updated for "Abandoned" at T

Map updated to reflect 8 June draft. Changes:

- Brains and Brawn moved to S to A.
- Librarians of Doom moved to Q from R.
- Newcomer "Reading Between the Lines" took R.
- The Bastard Sons of Daggermark moved from A to S.
- Newcomer "Four Rivers Mercenary Corporation" took T.
- Green Mountain Militia lost Q.

If I've made any errors, please let me know and I'll correct them.

The guild icons are not correct for some of the guilds (the ones that moved or are new to the map).

Goblin Squad Member

Fixed! They changed the file name of the icon overlay -- I made the unwarranted assumption that they were just going to keep updating the image.

Goblin Squad Member

Not exactly - we changed the name to Blackwood Glade. ;)

Also I think we're leaning towards NG alignment.

In case the details are important:

- Erastil's Irregulars became Elkhaven, and moved from P to G (voluntarily)
- The Vigilant disbanded, and joined Elkhaven

- The Golden Flask became Tavernhold, and moved from F to J (involuntarily)
- Dreamchasers disbanded, and joined Tavernhold

Thanks for those clarifications. I don't stay perfectly up to date on the diplomacy, so the changelogs are just my observations of what happened with icons on the map.

Liberty's Edge Goblin Squad Member

Once again, thanks for your hard work on this. I find it extremely helpful.

Actually, Original Settlers The Vigilant, Erastil's Irregulars, and Green Mountain Militia (who lost "Q" in the second week) have all combined forces under the Elkhaven banner. We abandoned the settlments in "N" and "P" in favour of pushing into "G" after we were unable to make contact with it's former residents.

EDIT: D'oh! scooped by Jazzlvraz again....

Goblin Squad Member

Updated for the results of the latest draft! Sorry for the delay, I just couldn't get time to work on this yesterday.

Changelog:

vVv Gaming moved from AA to A
The Gauntlet moved from D to C
Kabal moved from F to D
Tavernhold moved from J to F
Newcomer Terra Australis Incognito took J
Newcomer The Guardians took P
The Bastard Sons of Daggermark moved from P to T
Thod’s Friends changed names to The Emerald Lodge but retained V
Pax Golgotha dropped the Pax part of their name, but retained control of W
Mystical Awakening moved from C to AA
Otium Explorator lost A
Four Rivers Mercenary Corporation lost T

I'm not fully up to date on the diplomacy, but I've tried to note things that were name changes rather than new organizations.

In addition to the above, the addition of the the Game of Towers mechanic made the colored hexes that Goblinworks includes on their map actually useful for seeing the expanse of territories directly around each settlement. So I've added that in. It can be toggled with the "Hide Territories" checkbox in the controls at the top, and can be hidden independently of the settlement icons.

As usual, please report any errors, bugs, or clarifications.

Goblin Squad Member

Thanks, Tinalles. Your work is much appreciated.

Goblin Squad Member

Could you add in colored rings for the 3 first-gen settlements?

Goblin Squad Member

@ Tinalles

I believe that Agents of Erastil have embraced LG as a settlement alignment. They are at "AC".

Goblin Squad Member

Okay, I've added an additional overlay for the territories of the three first-gen settlements.

And I've updated the alignment for the Agents of Erastil.

Goblin Squad Member

Thank you very much. Kudos!

Updated for the 6/29 draft!

Changelog:

Terra Australis Incognito moved from J to A
Brains and Brawn moved from S to D
vVv Gaming moved from A to J
The Phoenix Brotherhood changed names to Sunholm but retained control of O
Kabal moved from D to R
Newcomer Open Road took S
Reading Between the Lines moved from R to T
The Bastard Sons of Daggermark lost T

As usual, please post any corrections here.

Goblin Squad Member

Thx for the work Tinalles! :)

Goblin Squad Member

Thank you, Tinnales!

Goblin Squad Member

@Tinalles, a minor point, but how are you determining which color to use for the 6 hexes surrounding the original Land Rush winner Settlements? My understanding is that the normal purpose of the color coding is to indicate size going from blue to red for small to large. I'm not sure if people are looking at it this way, but it might be giving some false impressions.

Goblin Squad Member

great job. great concise update!

Did TAI and VVVG voluntarily switch or pushed out?

Goblin Squad Member

@Nihimon: I didn't understand there was some kind of color-coding going on with those. I just picked colors that were different than those of adjacent settlements. I'll take another look at it later.

No worries at all. If I may, I would recommend using the same strategy as Goblinworks and simply not providing colored surrounding hexes for the three original Land Rush winners.

Goblin Squad Member

No, the colored rings are very useful for easily distinguishing a-ring towers from easily-contestable. If we want a consistent color scheme those 3 should use the high-pop red color, but that's not hugely important to me

Goblinworks Executive Founder

For consistency, a color outside of the color scheme used for Land Runsh Participants would be ideal.

I'm still unconvinced that towers near to a settlement will be significantly easier to defend or attack than more distant ones.

It is an assumption that you will be able to respawn in your proto settlement. Not much of one though.

That can be quite significant.

Huh.

Is anyone else bothered that Talonguard doesn't have a talon as its symbol?

That has been bothering me to no end! ;)

Or Kabal doesn't have a giant eyeball on its?

Y'knoww, I'm gonna make an Idea about this.

Yes, but if the attackers have some method of scraping their fallen off of the floor, they can defeat the same wave over and over.

Ah ok, I get you. Momentum of circumstance.

Yeah. You have to plan to not get caught up in that if you have an advantage of nearby spawn and bank storage.

Goblin Squad Member

Okay. I've altered the coloration of the overlay for the three Kickstarter settlements.

I gave all three the same basic color, using Golgotha's hex as a base since it's a big one and they're all big. Then, I changed the color's hue to bright neon green to make them visually distinct from all the other settlements.

How's that?
