I'm glad to see someone else take interest in the "diplomat" class ^^

Regardless of if it's an official class at launch or what others think, with what I see laid out for this world there's going to be a need for diplomats.

I'm so looking forward to month 2 of EE!

Goblin Squad Member

Since we will be dealing with PC to PC, instead of PC to NPC. I image in-game skills will be limited on the diplomacy front. Diplomacy will probably boil down to the metagame level even if done in-character.

You guys aren't the only ones :D

I look forward to our inevitable paths crossing with our Trade Caravans.

I'd love to have something new and exciting to post here, but alas, recruiting efforts are at the point of "reiteration until exhaustion".

We want to make a great settlement with everything the game has to offer. (Within reason, settlements have their limits)
We want to protect the little guy and create a positive play environment.
- Which means we also want those little guys. (Not necessarily referring to halflings or gnomes)
We want to protect the big guy that just doesn't have a strong PVP interest.
- Which means we also want those PvE minded players.
We want strong, dedicated PVPers to join the lines with us.
We want capable groups to hold their own PoI's or Outposts near us.
We're like a queen song, and we want it all.

You guys are doing so well in the Landrush twinsie, bravo!

Thanks :) At this point I'm ready to log in, start meeting people and see the game. I don't know how the people who've been on this board for years do it. I've only been here a couple months and I feel somewhat "talked out." I'm ready for action! Let's see what we're working with.

I don't either...

We slowed down a bit honestly, but a lot of that was an absence of our recruiting efforts over the last week.

We've been working on some fun stuff (a video and a web page that helps get more to the point for people's interest in our settlement. Hopefully I'll have some progress on those soon.

Also I had to calm down our militant grammarian over the fact that all of the members of this forum say POI's instead of PsOI.

Beware, evildoers. Talonguard's Grammar Police will be the most advanced unit in the land, with the latest in typo-detection technology. No comma will be safe.

Pfft! Everybody thinks their grammar police are more advanced than everybody else's.

I think that's a really good idea, and while it's not flashy, it's the kind of mechanic I'd put fairly high up on the list of things for GW to implement. It's very much in-line with other community-oriented features GW has said they plan to put in (e.g. pricing for training). It's just this kind of small thing that makes the marginal difference between joining or not joining a community.

Talonguard (and Magistry) is still happily accepting new LG, NG, CG, and TN individuals and companies.

We are currently located at the crossroads hex "K" in the Northwest of the map, and hope to hold on to that location throughout the land rush.

From there, we anticipate being a positive and stabilizing influence in that region, and hope to make PFO as fun an experience for as many people as possible, and particularly for new players. We want Talonguard to feel warm, inviting, and like a home for its residents.

Anyone interested in joining us in Talonguard and helping us realize our vision for it, please support us in the Land Rush.

Feel free to say hello here, or in our Magistry thread if you're specifically interested in joining Magistry.

Talonguard's forums are another place to say hello, and have a little more information about us, as well as information about the other companies who will be part of Talonguard if you are interesting in applying to one of those.

Help us make Talonguard as great as it can be, so Talonguard in turn can help make PFO as great as it can be.

Goblin Squad Member

I am leaning towards joining Talonguard, and given the War of the Towers, have you considered a "Talonguard" company?

Oh, and how many Alpha's do you have?

Goblin Squad Member

As far as I know we only have 2 alphas.

As far as a Talonguard company, we have something similar. Talonguard is currently made up of 5 companies, one of which is the Ash Knights. The Ash Knights are not a chartered company so that any resident can join regardless of other company affiliation.

The Ash Knights are dedicated to defense of the settlement or the settlement's interests, so in the case of early enrollment that'll be the towers.

Goblin Squad Member

If it's advantageous to create additional companies because of the way the War of the Towers is set up, I'm sure we'll consider that as well.

Goblin Squad Member

What I meant by a generic Talonguard company (or called something else, Freebooter?) is to have an option for independent players who are members of the settlement to have a no strings company that can be used to help out (like taking a tower, then maybe supporting a POI, or specific building for that matter).

I asked about the Alpha, because a friend and myself pledged Alpha and are leaning this way. Would be nice to try and meet up in Alpha as a group to "try" stuff.

We're certainly not against the idea, but it will need to be organized by one of the independents at our settlement since none of the members of other chartered companies can be a part of a second one. Seeing independent residents organize that way would be great and we'd have no problem chartering a company like that.

That company would still only be able to take over one tower though, per the war of the tower rules, so they'd have to be organized to some degree. This means there would be little difference between that and any other company at the settlement.

The Tower War companies will be completely unconnectred to in-game companies which won't be available for the duration:

Talonguard has always intended to be PVP, and more specifically, protection minded. We want to create an environment where enough of us are skilled at, and focused on, PVP that not everyone has to be. The requirement for a strong PVP presence has shown up much earlier than anticipated with the war of the towers but Talonguard welcomes this addition to the game and prepares its forces to combat the coming chaos.

Regardless of where you settle in PFO there will be danger, action and PVP. I urge those still on the fence about what to do in the game to take up arms (be it blade, pen, crafting tools or whatever your weapon of choice might be) in defense of Talonguard and its goals for the greater good. Help us build and protect a haven in the North-West of the early enrollment map. Help us prepare for the expansion of the map where we'll be able to influence the play experience for starting good-aligned players. From a meta standpoint we are trying to create an opportunity to positively affect the growth of PFO and the type of players we will see in it. Help us prepare for open-enrollment by getting in on a great cause from the beginning.

Whether you are PVP oriented, or not, take a look at Talonguard and what we stand for. We need people of all types to sustain growth and settlement functionality when the "mini-game of towers" is over.

Talonguard is independent and is made up of quite a few independent companies each with their own ideas. If you have no company, many of these companies are open to new membership. If you are part of a company that you'd like to settle somewhere, then come have a voice in Talonguard and help to shape the map and play experience in PFO for thousands of players.

Goblin Squad Member

I'd like to reiterate that we would *love* to pick up more pvp-focused individuals and companies. We haven't been advertising as a pvp-centric settlement, and as a whole that is not our focus, but by virtue of our goals and our location, we WILL be engaging in PvP. There will be people who will test us and we will pass those tests and make them think twice about trying again. With your help.

If you are wanting to engage in PvP and feel good about what you are fighting to defend, Talonguard is the *perfect* place for you. We do not plan on aggressively pvping just for its own sake, but we will aggressively react to those who challenge what we are building and what we stand for.

Join Talonguard and FIGHT for something worth fighting for. Magistry welcomes you as well.

Goblin Squad Member

It's gotta be now. Seal the deal. Let's do this thing. Three, two, one. Five, four, three, two, one. Now! Now! Now! Join! Do it! Now! Do it now! Do it! Shake my hand! You will join Talonguard. Shake my hand.

Bonus points to anyone who gets that without googling it

Hello all! My name is Clex and I've recently joined Talonguard as of a few days ago! Even with the slight inactivity that's bound to happen before EE, everyone has been incredibly kind and helpful so far! I'm really looking forward to EE and meeting everyone in-game!

Welcome to Elkhaven, Clex!

Fine!

Hiya Clex. Yeah honestly I'm just kinda sitting around waiting for EE to start at this point.
Don't think we're THAT inactive, Caldeathe :P

Kromac, I'm in the alpha and enjoyed it quite a bit this weekend. Look me up during the next alpha session; I'd love for you and your friend to join my wife and I so we can compare notes and try harder stuff (like those Razmirans)!

I have been using the moniker Kohn, a heavy armor slaughter-things-with-my-bow-until-it-is-nerfed fighter); my RL wife plays the Sarenrae priestess Bannis who is 'teaching' me that heals only work in melee range in PFO and to stop moving around spastically (canon to PF but unlike every other MMO out there).

We are primarily planning to be PvE players committed to improving the Settlement and the Talonguard local environment. I have not committed what my DT will be, probably a wizard / crafter for our Settlement/Company.

Clex, welcome to Talonguard, I hope you enjoy the game and our Settlement!

We need any and all types of players to manage the needed roles in Talonguard. Additionally, it looks like the crafting mechanism will be pretty varied as well requiring multiple characters working together to achieve success in all areas of refining and crafting. And of course, we'll need more PvP-aligned characters to protect our interests!

Goblin Squad Member

Iatronas,

We had great success with a double cleric combo (1 the standard melee, the other speced elemental ranged who would heal the melee) until the whole no power regen thing messed it up.

We also tried a fighter with great sword (Dragoon increased to hit) with a cleric in heavy armor (crusader) and it worked good to. the heavy armor had nice dmg reduction.

I just hope I'm not working through the next session, otherwise,it would be nice to try an actual group...

We're not recruiting as aggressively as some other groups, but we're still looking to take in individuals and companies who think Talonguard may be a good option. We'd like to increase the number of companies within our walls, so definitely consider us if you're thinking about joining forces right now. Contact myself or Athansor if you have any questions!

Well folks, we've managed to secure spot K in LR2 but that doesn't mean we're finished recruiting! There's still time to join before EE to help us build one of the most bustling settlements in the game, a to-be haven of new player and experienced vet alike! Individuals and companies are both welcome!
