I have a question. A player in my group has a aasimar sorcerer with a angel bloodline. This gives them and those 20' from the character a +4 to armor class and saves when dealing with evil. Does anyone know where this comes from and if it is legal to play in society?
I have not heard of an "Angel" bloodline in Pathfinder. Angel creatures in Pathfinder (Devas, Planetars, Solars) have "Angel" traits. One of these is Protective Aura which gives +4 AC and +4 Saves. However, I do not think that Aasimar get it. I would ask to see their source material.
It sounds like they focused everything on being an Angel (probably angelkin aasimar, celestial bloodline) and thought that meant they get the angel type with all the traits. Do they also have Truespeech and immunity to Acid, Cold? If so they have added the traits to their characters
Now

The player needs to be able to present the source if does not exist within the core assumption (and if it does, be able to name which book it comes out of). Per PFS Guidelines, if they cannot do this, then their option cannot be played at the table.
tl;dr You get to call him on it and if he can't back it up, he can't play it.

Protective Aura (Su) Against attacks made or effects created by evil creatures, this ability provides a +4 deflection bonus to AC and a +4 resistance bonus on saving throws to anyone within 20 feet of the angel. Otherwise, it functions as a magic circle against evil effect and a lesser globe of invulnerability, both with a radius of 20 feet (caster level equals angel's HD). The defensive benefits from the circle are not included in an angel's statistics block.
This ability fits the description including the 20' radius

Great, now what is this ability from? Just typing up an ability doesn't make it credible. I could have typed up the same thing from the information given.
A sourcebook would be nice but the bloodline at the least.
Edit: I found this ability it's part of the basic angel subtype. Good catch, sorry for my tone. Still I've dug around and have yet to find anything that gives this aura for a sorcerer, Paizo or third party.

Based upon how this is a trait for Angels and fits every element of the OP's initial description, I would be shocked if this was not what his/her player is using. This trait is not available thru any other ability/bloodline/feat etc that I can find. I did not mention that it was an Angel trait since I mentioned it in my previous post (3 up form this one). However, I should have reiterated to make it easier for people to keep the thread straight since it can get confusing trying to keep things coherent (sorry)

I just checked the pfsrd (first place I check for third party stuff) and went through the 3rd party bloodlines and none of the "divine" titles ones have the angel traits.
Not even the aasimar feat Angelic Blood (Advanced Race Guide) gives access to that.
@Treassa Cumpston If anything strikes you as wrong you might be right, you also might not know every detail that is why the burden of proof is on the player. As many have suggested, ask the player to provide a copy of the Additional Resources (yes this is required), and a copy of the book in question (legal watermarked pdf from paizo or their book.) If they are not able to do this then their character is not legal. In the case of the pdf I would (if you give them warning) have them bring the whole pdf not just the "legal printed pages" since none of us can find an actual legal spot for the bloodline.
Good Luck

As others have said, if anything sounds too good to be true, you are well within your rights to request a player show you the source. If the player cannot, that ability is not available.
We're not robots and we can't know every rule or options, that's part of the reason why the core assumption isn't every book. Besides, they have everyone else's turn to look something up, you don't really have a free moment in combat that doesn't involve stopping the game.

Anyone else wonder if he took the Adopted trait and is trying to pull off adopted by angels and took their aura since its a trait for them? :) (Not legal by the way, just in case anyone was getting any ideas...)
That or just read "you are a half breed angel" and just assumed that he gets the angelic subtype and all it entails. (Wouldn't be the first time.)

Celestial Bloodline of the Bloodrager in the Advanced Class Guide playtest document gains an ability similar to an Angel's Protective Aura. However, it is self-only and they only get it at Bloodrager level 12.
Angelic Protection (Su): At 12th level, you gain a +4 defection
bonus to AC and a +4 resistance bonus to on saving throws
against attacks made or effects created by evil creatures, and
you are effected as if subject to a protection from evil spell. This
effect cannot be dispelled.

You have your answer. Audit the character and show the player that section of the Campaign guideline which lists the requirement that THEY are required to both produce the material and proof of ownership. (i.e. the book or PDF watermark) They should also be reminded that sources not specifically listed in the Campaign Guide and Available Resources are not allowed.

Day four: Starting lose hope that I'll ever find the answer to this thread.
Day six: Rations are running low, only a few drops left of water. Will try to hold on.
Day nine: We continue to ask, still asking, still wondering. Wonder wonder wonder. Is there an answer? The waters gone, the foods gone. Just questions! questions, questions, questions.
For what it counts, I am still really curious as to what the case was here. I'll continue following this thread in hopes the OP returns. Mainly because I want to know if the mistake was intentional, unintentional or like Flite and S_Gmusic propose and its some shenanigans. I am in the unintentional mistake camp still.

To be clear, I support: (In no particular order)
Unintentional mistake
Subconsious misreading to their own benefit
Awesome crazy rules exploit we haven't thought of. (possibly legit, possibly not)
Third Party material mistaken for Paizo
out and out malfeasance.
I too want to find out which one it is.
Especially if it is an awesome crazy but legit rules exploit we haven't thought of...

And seven years to the day later, response received:
"That was so long ago! I think it was the angel subtype and it was fixed."
