CLICK HERE to see an amazing Kickstarter project about the history of the empires of EVE Online.

This is EXACTLY the sort of project that I would love to see for Pathfinder Online as well. And to think... we all get to be in on this from the ground floor. How exciting is that?

What he says about, "finding your niche". Sounds v good to me.

Goblin Squad Member

That's awesome. Yes, if PFO ever gets there you know it will have been sucessful.

I also added a comment to that Kickstarter informing people about PFO, some of its similarities with EVE Online, and links to here as well as Goblinworks.com.

Somebody should take a few printscreens of the current landrush-pages, with the top 12 lists with the icons and such. I bet these pages will be long gone 3 years from now, and they should be preserved for any book that may be written in the future!

You would get a subscript like:

Quote:
"This is how it all began: the pre-alpha landrush of the first Settlements in Pathfinder Online, many of which have faded into history years ago. Who still remembers........"

:p

I'm actually hoping to attract people willing to record history to the Keepers of the Circle. Nobody seems interested yet, but I remain hopeful. History is such a powerful tool.

It may be that a lot of the scholarly-focused folks have already found the perfect company :)

Phaeros will be trading Haiku's for Swords. :)

I didn't realize our penchant for asking our applicants to provide samples of poetry was so well-known :)

Possibly, I'm really trying to encourage scholarship both in and out of game. Basically, "Oh you like Organic Chemistry, did some research on it and wrote an essay that your shared with the Circle?" "We will read it, put it in our library and it with be considered when we are looking to promote people."

Really, try to encourage people to go out and self educate and reward it.

If I can't find any scholars, I guess I'll just have to hang out with some of your guys. I expect that the magical facilities will be better in Phaeros anyway.

I could actually get into doing a project like this. All the more better that the UNC was created for PFO, so it's history and legacy will be pure PFO.

I feel the same way. Not that I'm down on guilds that come from other backgrounds at all, but I really feel like PFO is something special, and that makes me feel like the guilds that formed here, well before the game even started, are something special too.

Well if history is going to be a big deal why not form a historical society? Historians from all over PFO can focus on their areas of interest, be it a guild, or region, or economic trends, or whatever. The group can then get together, share histories, collaborate and even work on a comprehensive history of PFO.

My main area of interest is writing the future of pfo... har-har-har... ;)

Thank you, Bluddwolf, you reminded me of Justin Wilson, of whom I'd not thought in years.

And right after Bluddwolf reminds me of a chef, here comes Avena reminding me I've not visited my local Vietnamese restaurant in far too long, for pho. You guys're conspiring against my hunger.

When I went to college back in the late 90's (my Major was Computer Science), I took Intro to Sociology as one of my first electives. To my surprise I liked the class and took some more advanced Sociology classes.

Around my 3rd year, the Head of the Sociology Department (who was often my Professor for many of my Sociology classes) wanted me to switch my Major to Sociology or at least go for a double Major. I ultimately didn't go that route, but I enjoyed researching and writing papers dealing with analyzing and understanding social life.

I've done Sociological research on certain games before for fun. I've been thinking about doing such a thing for PFO. Especially since I will be joining PFO in month 1. I'll be able to record the data from the start and monitor how it progresses as time passes.

Recruit your professor into the game!

Unfortunately I lost contact with him. He retired in 2009 and moved out of State. But I don't think he has ever played an MMO before. Maybe not even a video game. He knew how to use a computer to type and print, but that was about it. He would be in his 70s now.

Goblin Squad Member

Hey, we'd open a new category on the Player Age thread for him.

I used to watch him and Bob Ross back in the day. Always made me want to smoke a joint and eat some gumbo!

Really, to make this documentary we just need to download Nihimon's brain.

I'll gladly help in any way I can, but please... don't digitize me, bro!

Wizards are smart, certainly. Yet only the stars have witnessed all of history.

Goblin Squad Member

Wizards are stars, aren't they?

You need help on this, ask away. I can even teach you the wonders of "summon nihimon II" or, if you're lucky "wall of text V"

We already have a Geology group active...I think they will initially be focusing on cartography, but in the long term I can see screenshots and explanations (magical and natural) for different types of material and formations in the game.

I certainly hope we can find a mutually beneficial relationship allowing us each to specialize more...then we will send our x to you for training. Perhaps the Roseblood Accord needs an amendment defining a foreign exchange program.
