Scarab Sages

The puppet scene between Future-Bloodwork and his monster was kind of creepy. Otherwise, the episode was kind of meh.

Although, I could have sworn I heard the new wells refer to that rock in his hand as the "dream stone". That could be pretty cool.

A-zombie,

I dunno if that's what Nash well called it but Eternium as an element is cool.

Mostly I felt this was just more "We need to establish Bloodwork and maybe play for time while we get to Crisis."

Dinosaur Island and Kooey Kooey Kooey confirmed on Earth Prime. Wonder what other obscure teasers I missed on Cisco's map.

Happy Harbor was also on the map. Not sure what the point of that is, since I'm not expecting the nascent Justice League to suddenly move their HQ from the Hall-of-Justice-shaped abandoned research facility to a cave in Rhode Island.

Damon,

Maybe the cave is NEAR the Hall of Justice shaped abandoned research place. I dunno. I do know that I'm glad Cisco is going to find out more about what's going on Earth Prime.

Plus DOCTOR LIGHT AND MIRROR MASTER!! :D

Scarab Sages

I wonder if they'll keep to the comics regarding the leader of Black Hole. Considering he's one of my favorite Flash villains, I certainly hope so.

Crisis' continuity changes could give them license to do a lot of things, especially in a world where GC is confirmed as being on Earth Prime - but I feel like going full tilt with Black Hole's leadership and goals would be a stretch given the version of the character we've had up to now.

Maybe they're planning on introducing Happy Harbor's favorite son - Snapper Carr as a replacement for Jimmy Olsen on the Superman and Lois series since Mechad Brooks is unlikely to return.

Yeah, that was nice. Kind of threw me that we get the Kimiyo Hoshi version as a villain. In any case I trust we will not see Sue Dearborn (Dibny) get fridged.

Yeah I'm not fan of fridging, especially since DC was the one that coined it...kind of.

But I'm hopeful Sue will stay...alive? for a while.

Also I think the Mirror Universe that Mirror Master uses will play into some of this Black Hole stuff.

I'm not convinced Grodd has anything to with Black Hole since he's kind of unconscious...

I'm pretty sure Grodd is whatever they want him to be now in Earth Prime. The details of what we've seen happen with him in the past aren't really that relevant if they're inconvenient now.

Dunno, Joel. Everything I've seen/read about the upcoming Grodd and Flash meeting indicates to me Grodd isn't all that active...

Liberty's Edge RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32, 2011 Top 16

Haven't seen anything about it other than it's 2 episodes from now.

CW released the synopsis for Grodd Friended Me ten days ago...but I hadn't seen anything of that synopsis until Thomas mentioned an upcoming Grodd/Flash meeting two days ago.

Damon,

I just do good research. So that's my take.

Scarab Sages

I had (slightly) high hopes for the live-action debut of Sue Dearbon. Those hopes were dashed on the cold hard rocks of idiocy that make up the Flash creative team.

Seriously?!? You're making Sue a cheap Catwoman knockoff who (by amazing coincidence) is somehow involved in the whole Black Hole kerfuffle? And, in what should have been a slam dunk fight, the metahuman badguy decides not to use her powers against the powerless chick who has what her employers sent her to get. What the everloving f~@~?!?

I did at least like the bits with Iris and Eva trapped in the mirror dimension. It was still weak writing, however. Eva is supersmart, but over six years of being trapped there she never once figured out (even accidentally, as in this episode) that she was linked to the mirror?!? Either that, or she's laying a big con job on Iris. I hope it's the latter.

At least I have one of my favorite Flash villains to look forward to next week. WOOT!! GRODD!!

A-zombie,

Yep. I'm a huge Grodd fan too. I'm still okay with last week episode in the sense I think Eva MIGHT have been under stress trying to find a way out...and she missed it.

So I'm not sure I'm ready for "non-evil Grodd" but I'm willing to give Grodd a reason to just hang around apes in Gorilla city if only because coma Grodd wasn't cool.

Also while I think it's clear that Eva isn't telling Iris EVERYTHING, I don't think she and her hubby are necessarily on the same page about this Black Hole stuff.

Scarab Sages

I don't like good Grodd at all. That sucked balls. Hopefully, that little taste of the speed force will get him hungry for more, so he can turn back to his villainous ways.

Liberty's Edge RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32, 2011 Top 16

They could have Grodd become a non-evil villain though. Once he's in Gorilla City, he becomes it's leader, and then gets into conflicts simply by taking Gorilla City's side in issues which puts them in conflict with the rest of the world, and Flash is on the other side. They can still be adversaries in lots of ways even if Grodd isn't "take of the world" evil anymore. Plus, Grodd can eventually get to a place where he sees his only option to protect Gorilla City is to take over the world (or turn everyone into gorillas, etc.)

I hope he's not going to turn the humans into gorillas....but I do agree with Joel there are ways they can make Grodd more...Grodd-ish.

So...Grodd is out on good behaviour now but, he has had a taste of the Speed Force.

Grey,

Yeah but also remember he's probably got the most powerful Earth mind around. I dunno if in a contest between J'onn and Grodd, who would be more powerful...but since his upgrade, I'd reckon he's at least on par with his comic book counterpart.

Aaaaannnddd….I just realized with the merged earths, a mindscape battle between J'onn and Grodd is that much closer to the realm of possibility. I'd willingly watch an entire episode of Supergirl if they showed that.

Side-note

Chester is apparently a follower of the church of Rao?

A-zombie,

I'd enjoy it for the fact it might be cool to see how Supergirl fights a race of hyper intelligent race that MIGHT be controlled by Grodd...

Grey,

Yeah I noticed that but then again it might have just been the fact that Rao got game in this merged earth universe... ;)

Read today that Chester is being bumped up to series regular for season 7.

Cool.

Now if they can just explain why we have 4 Godspeeds, that would be great.

So while this episode didn't explain why we had four Godspeeds, it DID give us some ample answers about a) How cool Wally West is now (and by extension, Keiynan Lonsdale) b) a little more insight to Thawne's appearance and c) Wally's in tune nature apparently catching on to Mirror Iris' ruse.

Also cool, was just seeing the interaction between Lonsdale and Grant was epically cool.

So now we just need John Constatine to show up and help exorcise Thawne. :) Oh and apparently build a new Speed Force too. Because THAT always ends well...

Liberty's Edge RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32, 2011 Top 16

I'm not a deep fan of the Flash comics, so have no idea what happens when you build a speed force, but I'm guessing that by the end of the season, they're re-build, resurrect, etc. a real speed force, but it will require sacrificing someone to become it. Not sure who I think that will be, but maybe Cisco, with Chester being bumped up to series regular, and only needing one tech guy.

Joel,

Maybe. The whole thing about the Speed Force is that it's been retcon more than once...so it might be that it might require something more like "Wally and Barry need to generate Speed Force energy and have some way to make it go" but that's just me.

Btw here's a nice link about the history of the Speed Force as it relates to comics

A dead flash takes on the mantle of The Spectre, Prime Flash reboots the speed force, and discovers that future flash created it, in the past, with the modified time machine.

That's why he went nuts.

Uhm well that's one idea...sure...

New episodes (of all Arrowverse shows still in their season) in 3 weeks!

I look forward to having more TV shows to watch, especially Arrowverse! :)

Last week episode was great. I just worry we're run out because of the pandemic and not get a truly proper send off of the season...

I saw an article from WBTV talking about how they'll have to figure out how to get back to shooting, such as re-thinking how they shoot intimate scenes, or face to face stunt work. They then indicated that shows will have to avoid outdoor shoots as much as possible, crowd scenes won't be as easy or possible to do, etc. They ended with a remark that while scripts will change, they don't want to have an episode of the Flash where he talks down a villain via Zoom, as that would be a terrible episode of the Flash.

I don't think they knew enough about the Flash to realized that their Zoom reference was a fun pun. Part of me now also wants an episode where Barry talks a villain down via video chat.

I don't think they did either otherwise we'd have Hunter Zolomon/Teddy Sears back for episodes. Which I'd totally enjoy. :)

I would love an episode where someone engineers a cure for the coronavirus that also causes bonus mutations. In any case, Cisco should get his vibe back.

Goth,

I don't think Cisco will because it's clear he COULD have kept them...if he wanted them. But he didn't.

Which was a bloody stupid decision.

They made it clear that other timelines were forming.
Cisco may be blocking on his powers.

Well other timelines and/or other multiverses sure...

Looks like Hartley Sawyer was just fired.

Wonder if they'll recast, especially after bringing Sue Dearborn in last season. At least elongated man's powers let him take on different shapes, so they have a built in way to explain why a new actor looks a bit different.

No idea. But that's just one more sad on for me after Ruby Rose left/departed.

Liberty's Edge RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32, 2011 Top 16

I'm glad they re-introduced Elongated Man and left it open for the character to appear without the original actor.

I'm completely confused as to what the stinger at the end represents

Spoiler:
don't have enough deep comic knowledge to know if it's referencing anything, but my only guess is that the new speed force might have empowered 4 additional speedsters, each with their own color of speed lightning/effects.

“Comic info”:
Joshua Williamson’s recent run in The Flash introduced other forces that balance with the Speed Force (yellow lightning) to ground the multiverse. There is the Strength Force (red lightning), the Sage Force (blue lightning) and the Still Force (green lightning.)

They were introduced in a storyline that was also about the death and rebirth of the Speed Force. It went down very differently, but that is what they’re drawing from.

I think the non-deadpool is correct but it might also tie into the larger question of why there are/have been 4 different Godspeeds.

We’ve been teased about a resolution to the fake Godspeeds a few times now, I was just making sure to share the requested bit about the four lightnings erupting from a force storm, which does seem to be a nod to what was placed behind the spoiler tag.

I think the new structure with short story arcs that’s are all interconnected might mean that Godspeed is a small arc while the four color lightning might be more of a slow burn season long story.
