Ok I thought this was good

Grey,

That should also go on the DC Comics thread considering what happened with Flash War.

argh, I have no idea on that right now cause my shop didn't get their delivery this week, but odds are Barry and Wally need a good talking to regardless

Grey,

I thought you were keeping up with Flash War...I mean that's kind of a huge thing. Not Flashpoint huge, but huge-er than Bendis Superman...

I am, but my store here just didn't get anything last week, so I have no idea what happened in the most recent issue. He said he'll be getting 2 weeks worth of stuff in on Wednesday so I gotta sit still till then.

Well, that and drop $7 on some of those pre-primed wizkid minis. Couple of Elf wizards.

It’s a long walk to get there and it’s hot and sticky in the summer. Don’t want go home empty handed with all that effort

As a man that's felt like he's walked the face of the earth more times than Cain in Kung Fu, I can appreciate you not wanting to walk in the heat.

How Killer Frost comes back, my head cannon.
In a new crossover, Heatwave helps Constantine summon the devil that snatched the girl and turned him dark. I may have his name wrong, but I'll run with Heatwave for now.

Heatwave cuts a deal where he will deliver at least 2 of the demons just released, for the girl to be released.

The devil gives Heatwave a cool pitchfork that when the gem of fire is set in it, will send the target to the devil's ready made containment cells. The devil will use these super demons as bargaining chips,"Smite out Las Vegas and I'll release a super demon on salt lake city!"

The devil sends the girl back, to Central City, possessed by Killer Frost! Heatwave says,"He's gotta be the smartest guy in the room. Besides, an eternity of watching souls burn? I'm good with that."

New season of The Flash, The girl shows up in the city, leaving a trail of freezer burned creeps who tried to prey on her. Both Constantine and team Flash are looking for her.

Loving XS, pretty accurate costume. Love the Schway Neo-Gotham slang. And the name drops - Lightning Lad, Ryan Choi.

I think my brain is giving me the silent treatment today, Guru. I didn't follow that head canon plot at all.

I just enjoy the fact Cicada is a little more interesting than his comic book version.

OK

XS "altered the timeline" by intervening with the satellite. How was she born in a timeline where her dad died before she was conceived when a large piece of Central City was destroyed by a falling satellite?

Also, she isn't to blame for Cicada. Eobard Thawne is. Cicada "showed up early"? Well so did every other meta in Central City. The accident wasn't supposed to happen until 2018 - this year. Which means every meta that existed in 2013-2018 wasn't supposed to. All because Thawne killed Nora Allen when she was not supposed to die. Then set out to create the Flash early.

Also Limbs-Fall-Off Boy of the Substitutes!

You're assuming Green that Barry wouldn't survive. I thought he might. Just maybe he'd might have to have a prosthetic.

As for Thawne being blamed...not sure that's accurate as this is now the proper timeline. Otherwise we'd be having WAY more problems...

Nora wasn't born in a timeline where her dad died before she was conceived[/]. Before she was [i]born, perhaps.

I don't know what her interaction with the satellite changed; the effect wasn't saving Barry's life, despite Marley saying that Barry trying to speed punch the satellite alone would "most likely" get him killed. We know that because he disappears on April 25, 2024 as part of a/the Crisis.

There are a couple of things I'm wondering about:

(1) Barry disappears in 2024; Nora's interference, whatever it was, didn't change that. We know this because of the future newspapers she shows. But this year's crossover is "Elseworlds", involves the Monitor, and is widely speculated as being a mechanism for merging Supergirl's Earth-38 universe into the Arrowverse's Earth-1. Will something happen to the timeline in the next several weeks that advances the Crisis by six years?

2) Perhaps Nora's mistake wasn't joining Barry at the falling satellite. That was at least her fifth trip to the past. Perhaps something she did on one or more of the earlier trips, although seemingly innocuous at the, er, time is what caused her timeline to be changed?

BTW, has anyone heard about John Wesley Shipp returning as the Flash? I'm assuming it will be part of the crossover event. And I'm not talking about him playing the Jay Garrick/Flash-3 character from recent seasons.

Yeah, that's pretty awesome he'll be back playing the Flash of the 90s TV show.

John Wesley Shipp will appear in the Arrowverse Elseworlds crossover.

I don't think Elseworld is a Crisis event. If only because I don't think the Monitor will be the one either causing it or even being joined to it. More likely I think someone does something wonky about universe merging and that's how we have all these different people involved.

I also don't think Earth-38 will be merged with Earth-1.

Scarab Sages

I still keep seeing Max from Black Sails every time Nora comes on screen.

Wow, I completely failed to make that connection, and I was a big Black Sails fan. Somehow she looks years younger in her current role.

Weird. I am usually really good at recognizing actors' faces, even under heavy makeup or if I'm catching an early performance from decades before the point where I'm most familiar with them. The recognition isn't always instant; right away I'll think "Hey, I know that actor..." but it will often take several minutes before I can place him or her in a specific role.

I don't see it...but then again I never watched it. I do know this:

Nora is kind of right to be upset at Mom, but Barry clearly stands by future Iris's decision.

I expect that at some point we'll see what the very good reason was - whether it's to protect her from whatever crisis event made Barry disappear, or to prevent her from mucking up the timeline even younger than she already does, etc. I bet it will be something like poetic irony where Nora herself makes Iris promise to inhibit her powers and close the time loop so things don't break.

Joel,

That actually makes sense and will probably not happen.

My thought had been that perhaps a very young Nora exhibited speed powers and it had some kind of detrimental effect on her health, maybe interfering with or accelerating normal growth. The "still force" chip was medically necessary at the time. Years later it could have been removed safely but by then Iris had kept the secret for so long she'd begun to think it would be safer and simpler for Nora if she never found out.

I really like Joel's idea about adult Nora in 2018 making Iris promise to install the chip. Given that science and magic are frequently indistinguishable on this show, Caitlin might stumble across a genetic anomaly while checking Nora for something else entirely, and that would lead to adult Nora (and Iris) finding out why the chip was necessary.

Sadly, I am forced to grant Thomas's assessment of things: Joel's idea makes sense and [therefore] probably will not happen.

Traditionally in the comics, Speed force has not been a good thing for pre-teen speedsters. Wally, Bart, Wally's kids all had to be saved from their own powers

If they'll going to go that route with Nora, it'll have to manifest while she's an infant or toddler, so that later on she doesn't remember ever having speed powers.

Plastique (Smallville). lol

OK, Central City/Keystone City are supposed to be Kansas City. Except for 4 season now, CC is very close to Star City, sharing a prison. And Star City is on the Pacific Coast.

How does one run west from the Pacific Coast to reach Las Vegas - without crossing an ocean?

Looks like the author on this one put the city back where it belongs, ignoring the previous 4 years.

Actually, when Damien Darhk was going to nuke Starling City the tactical map showed the city somewhere around Chicago.

Map

Which is an odd place for a city with docks on the Pacific Ocean.

What do you mean?
Oliver and his dad sailed the Queen's Gambit down the Chicago river to the Illinois, then to the Mississippi and the Gulf of Mexico. From there the sailed around the Yucatan peninsula and cut across the Panama Canal to the Pacific Ocean. Once in the Pacific they began sailing towards China when they ran into the storm and...
Forget it, it's all screwed up.

All I know is no new Flash tonight but new Flash next week. Plus I look forward to seeing a real interpretation of Ragdoll.

Okay... he didn't do a LOT, but he sure looked insanely CREEPY doing it :D

Scarab Sages

Yeah, I really liked the way they played up the creep factor. It seemed a good way to go with what I always saw as a lame villain.

Sovereign Court

It was hella creepy

Yeah Ragdoll might not have the same kind of oomph you get with say, Thawne or even Trickster. But the fact is, he's DAMN creepy and his kid in the comic is even worse.

So Icicle was in contact with Dr Wheels/Thawne, Louise Lincoln (also Killer Frost), and Victor Fries.

Greenie,

Well I mean at the time he didn't KNOW Thawne had replaced Earth-1 Harrison Wells... But yeah.

GreenDragon1133 wrote:

I doubt this was intentional -- the connection is pretty thin, in addition to being the wrong comics company -- but Icicle's "North Pole" site with receive-only communication had me flashing back to Jack Frost of Marvel's Liberty Legion, who "from his home in the frozen North, monitors all radio broadcasts."

(I think that's the quote; haven't been able to verify it online.)

More commenting on the name drops.

Ralph is becoming more and more Ralph every episode and I love it. And finally the nose twitch only to have Ceceil shoot it down

Not the first time we've seen the nose twitch, just the first time Cecile has.

Ralph is becoming better at being the Ralph I remember. Which is good because I want him to do a Justice League International, of which he is the lead.

Kind of curious to see if they will introduce Sue anytime soon

This is amazing. So many I'm still trying to identify.

Well I'm sure if you google it, you'll figure out who is who. Maybe...

I assume GreenDragon got all the ones I did: Star Girl, Firestorm, both Hawks, Dr. Fate, Green Arrow, Flash. I counted six bodies I was unable to identify.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

There were two Arrows. With Captain Cold and a Hawk mask in between them. The second (just before Barry) was the Justin Hartley, Smallville version.
Huntress was next to Firestorm. Guardian's helmet not Fate, it was only a half helm.

Yeah also if it had been Doctor Fate's helmet, I think it would have been smooshed or something. I mean that's where Nabu lives...

But otherwise I agree with Green and Damon's assessments.
