Let's give the man the benefit of the doubt. Look at some other unsuitable actors doing a pretty nifty job.
Like Ledger for Joker and Keaton for Batman.
Sure like Afleck as batman....oh wait.
Tatum has the action chops for the role for sure. I hope we can get a decent accent out of him is all I want. So far nothing I have seen of Tatum says thats going to happen.

Why are all off-Marvel movie franchises working so hard to look idiotic to the fan base?
I mean, sure they re-cast the role of Kitty Pryde and that was ok...(I genuinely preferred the look of Sumela Kay to Ellen Page as Kitty; that's just me.)
But meat shields aren't really suitable for casting in rogue-ish roles.
Tatum would make a good... Strong Guy is the best I can come up with for him. Except the part where Strong Guy is funny...
Kitch was a much better physical match, but he's not allowed in movies anymore after his two star vehicles tanked.
Kitsch got screwed with John Carter. Surprisingly, the studio and promotional branch had NO IDEA how to market that movie and probably would have tripled their meager box office if only they had not eliminated "of Mars" from the title.
Kitsch is not off the market though... Savages was pretty highly acclaimed even if I wasn't a fan and couldn't watch more than 20 minutes of it.theheadkase RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32 |
Hey now, I'm planning on giving Affleck the benefit of the doubt. He was hardly the worst part of Daredevil, and with his role in front of and behind the camera on Fargo I'm willing to believe again.
Tatum as Gambit...interesting. He might have to pull something like Bale did for The Machinist and lose some mass. But...I'm hesitant in general. A Cajun accent isn't the hardest thing to do...but it's also really easy to screw up. And on top of that I can't think of any role where Tatum's been as...sassy...as Gambit.
