Harley Quinn

Anyone got any advice on building a Harley Quinn style character?

Rule books allowed would be all the Paizo books only with a point build of 15.

I would say that a Chaotic alignment is a given with at least a few levels of rogue.

Race is fairly open but would prefer something like Human or Assimar if possible.

Thank You.

Human Ninja. High Str, Dex, and Cha, decent Int and Con, dumped Wis as far as possible.

Maybe something like: Str 16 Dex 14 Con 12 Int 12 Wis 7 Cha 14

Probably going with the Sap Mastery feat-line with the Bludgeoner Feat and a hammer of some sort.

Not the most optimal build ever, certainly, but it could be fun.

I might actually start with a level of Wizard as to represent who she was before meeting the Joker.

Maybe something like:

Human 'Manipulator' Wizard 1/Rogue X
Str 10, Dex 16, Con 13, Int 14, Wis 8, Cha 12

She was a psychologist. And not a very good one at that. That's a Knowledge skill, plus some social skills, not a class.

And I say this as someone currently working on becoming one.

I just like representing her as something before she was corrupted.

We both may have different approaches.

While I don't know the exact build my group faced a Court Bard by the name of the Jester, he had a helper in a harlequin outfit. She was a Rogue with the Acrobat Archtype. The last we saw of her was her mocking us as she was escaping by backflipping over a wall, which she shorted and caught her by the waist. She had enough momentum to be thrown to the other side though. It was a very fitting moment for a Harley Quinn.

Harley was also on a gymnast scholarship. So rogue(acrobat) fits. She has exceptional intelligence, agility and strength and later becomes resistant to most toxins.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Has anyone tried to use a baseball bat as Harley is seen with a bat in a lot of pictures? I was thinking of using the stats for a club.

Then there is the problem of deciding if you want to include fire arms in the build.

I like to imagine Harley would exist in a campaign setting with Guns Everywhere condition.

Rogue (acrobat) fits her to a tee. Definitely low Wisdom; she's so easy to deceive/manipulate... To represent her background as a gymnast-psychologist, a level or two of the Expert NPC class should do - for an NPC, of course. Iirc she doesn't get high strength until Ivy gives her the poison-immunity treatment. I remember her using way oversized/contrived weapons (or toys) in combat in the good old 90's cartoons; a giant mallet, a pogo stick and a boxing-glove/cork-stopper pistol being the more prominent. The girl has a thing for applying a thorough bludgeoning. If she does go long-range, she goes for overkill; I've seen her using a bazooka more than once.

... I'm shocked to be the first to suggest... Alchemist? Isn't she always tossing bombs around? She's one of the only characters anywhere in fiction that I feel actually deserves that class.

Bat = Greatclub

As for 'prior life' - including a single level of most anything would work, but you could also just say she was retrained by the Joker...

Conversion Inquisitor. The social skills for psychological manipulation plus the ability to hit like a train when you feel like it.

The issue with that is her Wisdom...which is abysmal.

well depending on which Harley you do, but by the new 52 , she has proven despite her craziness she is extremely smart and wise(except when it comes to joker who is seething Charisma) she out smarts everyone in in the last chapter of suicide squad: kick in the teeth.

and her actual combat ability is closer to an urban ranger with a two handed style in early levels just with unorthodox fighting styles

If we're talking oversized weapons and acrobatics, I'd say a mix of Titan fighter and rogue, or just Titan fighter with appropriate traits to give acrobatic ability. Keep in mind though that this route might work better in a non-society game though.

Not a very good one? Son, you need to do some homework. She was a prodigy of psych school. But Joker is just good at breaking people. He had broken older and more experienced psychologists before. That was really all she lacked; experience. She may have been young and brilliant, but that doesn't change the fact that she was young. Had she waited another 5-10 years, it may well have been the other way around. Still, Harley has successfully caught Batman more often than Joker has and she can keep him in line better than anyone can. He literally keeps her around because she's the only one that can keep up with him and keep him on his toes. "Not a very good one" indeed; she's a brilliant psychologist and that makes it that much more tragic.

Character Development: The character begins her adventuring career, as a challenge to herself to get a better understanding of the wonder lust that drives some people to feel themselves above the rules that the rest of the civilized world must follow. In actuality, this idea was placed in her mind by one of these same people, a criminal that was locked up in her home city that she was researching, who suggested she would never understand what was going through his mind unless she left her home, and traveled the world doing the tasks too dangerous for normal people.

This challenge quickly gets out of hand as unlike her predictions she begins to falter mentally, developing a second, more dominant personality. When she thought she would be able to simply observe the experience and take notes she instead finds herself engrossed in the adrenalin rush of finding bigger more ferocious challenges, becoming as bad if not worse than the man she was studying before.

Liberty's Edge

My suggestion:

Two levels of Expert with maxed Knowledge (Psychology) and Acrobatics for her "pre-corruption" stage. Then, she starts taking levels in Bard (Court Fool archetype). This gives her a bonus to Acrobatics and Climb equal to 1/2 her Bard level. Multi-class with Alchemist to gain poison resistance and bombs.

High Dex, Cha, and Con, really low Wis.

Feats: Acrobatic, Bludgeoner, Exotic Weapon (clown hammer), Goad, Nimble Moves, Weapons Focus (baseball bat), Weapon Focus (clown hammer).

Baseball bat uses the same stats as a great club.

Clown Hammer stats:

Two-handed exotic weapon, Damage (Sm): 1d6, Damage (Md); 1d8, Critical: x3, Weight: 8 lbs, Type: B, Special: Sunder

Unchained Rogue.

Greatclub and/or Earthbreaker with Effortless Lace so she can use it with Finesse Training.

Bludgeoner and the Sap Master line of feats.

Max ranks in Acrobatics, Climb, Sense Motive, Knowledge: Local.

Handy Haversack full of explosives, traps, and silly stuff.

For my DC Module I'm making my version of Harley a Mad Dog Barbarian. With her wearing almost no armor, using a giant two handed hammer, and hyena animal companions, to me it's the best fit for her.

I wrote up a Harley Quinn character conversion a while back. Figured it might be some help in this situation.
