Scribing

A few of us are wondering if there is going to be some form of scribing planned for the game. Is this something likely to make an appearance prior to OE?

It would be really nice to have things like manuals, mission statements and even literature in game prior to open beta.

As a side note, will items have any persistence? Can they be placed in the game world at large? Specific locations that support item placement?

I have my doubts that this will make it in to EE. They really are focusing solely on the bare systems needed to make the game playable. Everything else is flavour that will be crowd-forged and implemented down the road.

That is my understanding, at any rate.

The end of EE is what I had hopes for, in time to get a bit of flavor in place for OE players, have had a little bit of testing prior to OE and thus have plenty of time for content to be generated prior to release.

I won't disagree with you; I would LOVE to see these kind of things implemented for OE. I just highly doubt they will be :(

I would be happy just being able to build road signs. Books are nice but don't get you to much. Also subject to abuse. Best I can think of would be a Library building with the person running it being able to approve or reject submissions.

I really don't think it would happen, but I would really love to be able to write 'Adventure Journals' then sneak into unfriendly settlements and slip the journal into the HQ of the settlement to be found later. :P
