How can a Sage archetype sorcerer get a familiar?

I want to take arcane bloodline as a sorcerer and take Sage archetype. Do I have to lose arcane bond? Is there any way to get arcane bond?

There are a few other classes that get an arcane bond you can dip into, and there is the Eldritch Heritage feat. Not sure how the feat works with wildblooded, pretty sure its an 'ask your GM' moment and it probably wouldn't be a big deal if you took it since your burning two feats to get a familiar. You could also ask your DM nicely to let you take the obtain familiar feat from 3.5. If you want a small critter friend you could probably just buy and train one with handle animal, if your GM is okay with that kind of thing anyway.

If your a sage wildblood archetype you loose access to arcane bond from the main bloodline.

If you are not picky about the type of familiar eldritch heritage serpent will get you a snake.

That would require Improved Eldritch Heritage, it's the 3rd level bloodline power. So two feats, minimum Charisma of 15, and not available until character level 11.

By RAW you can't take Eldritch Heritage: Arcane because you already have the Arcane BL,
even if the Wildblooded Archetype swapped out it's Arcana + 1st level power, it didnt' change what Sorceror BL you selected.

There is the Companion Figurine Feat:

Although I'm not quite sure how it works, it doesn't give any info re: scaling of the familiar, although things like HP, BAB, Saves automatically scale no matter what... I think the Feat is possibly/likely supposed to only work if you alreay have the ability to gain a Familiar/Companion, but it doesn't actually state that as a requirement.

Leadership may be a way to get most of what a Familiar might offer,
if not exactly the same (no Share Spells etc), it's also more flexible (custom Build by DM assent).
I believe there is sources giving details for non-standard Leadership companions, e.g. 'monsters'...?

It's a shame that the Basalt Dragon Figurine can't be used as a familiar. That would give you access to a pseudodragon, with options for a flame drake.

Well, you could multiclass. You can get a familiar with a one level dip in.....

Wizard
Witch
Carnivalist Rogue
Serpent Domain Cleric/Druid/Inquisitor
Monkey Domain Cleric/Druid/Inquisitor
Frog Domain Cleric/Druid/Inquisitor
Eagle Domain Cleric/Druid/Inquisitor
Crocodile Domain Cleric/Druid/Inquisitor
Demonic Apostle Cleric

and maybe more (can't say this is exhaustive for certain).

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Take the Sylvan Wildblooded Bloodline (Animal Companion @ level -3) and Eldritch Heritage (Arcane) to get the familiar (at what will also be level -3).

Enjoy.
