My prep secret is no secret at all. I give myself every tool to get ahead, if it's a complicated battle I walk though it. I take advantage of using my iPad and book mark PDFs of monsters or spells. The biggest factor is making sure everyone has fun, can shine in the sun, and that they all can do something cool during the session. You can't prep have fun, but you can make sure you don't have to fumble too much.
