A Good Town Map Making Tool?

My party and I have recently come into some coin and we're hoping to set up a home base between campaigns. One character is even retiring to run the tavern.

Are there any good paid or free map-making tools out there with good town & building assets? I'd love to hear what others use to make town maps.

My favorite...? Photoshop (GIMP for free). There's a ton of great tutorials on youtube you can look at to learn, and the skill you get from it goes far beyond mere town maps.

If that's not your speed, then I suggest campaign cartographer. There is a robust community that supports it, and it is fairly user friendly.

Hope that helps!

Thanks! I'm know my way around photoshop enough so that hopefully with the youtube videos I can pull it off.

My biggest concern with taking the PS approach was image libraries. Can anyone recommend a good place to get tabletop-style image packs? Floors, walls, furniture, etc.

Campaign Cartographer isn't bad at all.

Try Dundjinni. I have got loads from there.

i would recommend www.rptools.net. its a pretty cool program and they have loads of user made maps in the community section
