The devs had said they are planning to have Alpha around the end of April.

As for EE, the 3rd Quarter is planned. But personally I don't mind if they are a little delayed. Especially since I won't get my new gaming computer until August. :P

I don't remember if that is calendar quarter or fiscal quarter. Most big companies measure everything by Fiscal Quarter. Q1 Fiscal is just starting for most places.

Most companies use the calendar year as the fiscal year, unless they're in retail and have a big XMas impact or they have a tax exposure overseas that makes calendar year accounting problematic. They're a minority of businesses.

In this case, all references we make to quarters are calendar quarters.

And the DoD uses October as the beginning of their FY. It's a bit odd.

Not just the DoD, the whole US government. Remember the "shut down" last fall?

I was actually thinking about which quarter it would be the other day, because of the different ways to divide the year. I worked logistics when I was in the Marines, it took a lot of getting used to trying to think of the year starting October 1st. Plus we used a different system to mark the date, I think it was based of the Julian date system but it's been a while.

Nothing like being told "You cant put gas in your trucks and you cant order parts to fix the planes".

How about "You have to come in and work, but we're not going to pay you"?

Except to do so would violate the FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations). They do make sense, given the proctive of US companies attempts to fraud the government.

Hmph!

We did have our pay delayed once, but the armed forces usually had their pay designated out separately from the rest of the budget. I think that was actually mad a law a little while back as well, wasn't it.

Military members are required to report regardless of whether they're getting paid. That said, unless something catastrophic happens, they'll get back pay.

Likewise with certain employees designated 'essential'.

I realize it doesn't say so, but can we interpret it as meaning: "Development is on track for EE in Q3 (by calendar year)"

According to what is mentioned on the Goblinworks Store page , EE should start a bit sooner then that, namely in June '14. I made a thread about it here

Alpha in May. If all goes according to plan off course. Exiting!
