Yeah! Another Prophet of Disaster
Who says the ship is lost,
Another Prophet of Disaster
Leaving you to count the cost.
Taunting us with Visions,
Afflicting us with fear,
Predicting war for millions,
In the hope that one appears.

(Bridge)
No point asking when it is,
No point asking who's to go,
No point asking what's the game,
No point asking who's to blame.
'Cause if you're gonna die (If you're gonna die) If you're gonna die,
(If you're gonna die) If you're gonna die (If you're gonna die) If you're gonna die...

(Chorus)
If you're gonna die, die with your boots on.
If you're gonna try, well stick around,
Gonna cry, just move along,
If you're gonna die, you're gonna die,
Gonna die! Die with your boots on,
If you're gonna try, well stick around,
Gonna cry, just move along,
If you're gonna die, you're gonna die!

13, the Beast is rising,
The Frenchman did surmise,
Through earthquakes and starvation,
The warlord will arise.
Terror, death, destruction,
Pour from the Eastern Sands,
But the truth of all predictions,
Is always in your hands.

(Repeat Bridge and Chorus)

(Guitar solo - Dave Murray)

They died with their boots on, yes they died...
They died! They die with their boots on, they die...
We die! We die! We die! We die! We die!

(Guitar solo - Adrian Smith)

(Repeat Bridge)

If you're gonna die, die with your boots on.
If you're gonna try and try then just stick around,
Gonna cry, just move along,
If you're gonna die, you're gonna die
Gonna die! Die with your boots on,
If you're gonna try, well stick around,
Gonna cry, just move along,
If you're gonna die... Die!

Let's be real.

We're all going to be immolated LONG before we're able to "drown" in the lava flow.

It's yellowdingo. He thought gigantopithecus was a carnivore.

Some Australian bush poetry - Australians always believe there is a disaster around the corner.

Said Hanrahan

(John O'Brien)

"We’ll all be rooned," said Hanrahan
In accents most forlorn
Outside the church ere Mass began
One frosty Sunday morn.
The congregation stood about,
Coat-collars to the ears,
And talked of stock and crops and drought
As it had done for years.

"It’s lookin’ crook," said Daniel Croke;
"Bedad, it’s cruke, me lad
For never since the banks went broke
Has seasons been so bad."

"It’s dry, all right," said young O’Neil,
With which astute remark
He squatted down upon his heel
And chewed a piece of bark.

And so around the chorus ran
"It’s keepin’ dry, no doubt."
"We’ll all be rooned," said Hanrahan,
"Before the year is out.

"The crops are done; ye’ll have your work
To save one bag of grain;
From here way out to Back-O’-Bourke
They’re singin’ out for rain.

"They’re singin’ out for rain," he said,
"And all the tanks are dry."
The congregation scratched its head,
And gazed around the sky.

"There won’t be grass, in any case,
Enough to feed an ass;
There’s not a blade on Casey’s place
As I came down to Mass."

"If rain don’t come this month," said Dan,
And cleared his throat to speak –
"We’ll all be rooned," said Hanrahan, "
If rain don’t come this week."

A heavy silence seemed to steal
On all at this remark;
And each man squatted on his heel,
And chewed a piece of bark.

"We want an inch of rain, we do,"
O’Neil observed at last;
But Croke "maintained" we wanted two
To put the danger past.

"If we don’t get three inches, man,
Or four to break this drought,
We’ll all be rooned," said Hanrahan,
"Before the year is out."
In God’s good time down came the rain;
And all the afternoon
On iron roof and window-pane
It drummed a homely tune.

And through the night it pattered still,
And lightsome, gladsome elves
On dripping spout and window-sill
Kept talking to themselves.

It pelted, pelted all day long,
A-singing at its work,
Till every heart took up the song
Way out to Back-O’-Bourke.

And every creek a banker ran,
And dams filled overtop;
"We’ll all be rooned," said Hanrahan,
"If this rain doesn’t stop."

And stop it did, in God’s good time:
And spring came in to fold
A mantle o’er the hills sublime
Of green and pink and gold.

And days went by on dancing feet,
With harvest-hopes immense,
And laughing eyes beheld the wheat
Nid-nodding o’er the fence.

And, oh, the smiles on every face,
As happy lad and lass
Through grass knee-deep on Casey’s place
Went riding down to Mass.

While round the church in clothes genteel
Discoursed the men of mark,
And each man squatted on his heel,
And chewed his piece of bark.

"There’ll be bush-fires for sure, me man,
There will, without a doubt;
We’ll all be rooned," said Hanrahan,
"Before the year is out."

Giga means 'billion',

N looks like an abreviated 'on'
Topi is the name of a halfling sized zombie from the d&d creature catalog.
Thecus looks like they got lazy and cut their reason short with a cus.

So 'billion halfling zombies just because...'

Nope, not getting my hopes up again. Sorry but that whole "the world ends in 2012" debacle has made this eldritch horror far too cynical. The timing on this could be anywhere from this year to the next few thousand years. Far too random.

Now if a nuke were to be dropped on Yellowstone...

Where's Nyarlathotep when we need him???

You know, I wonder if anyone has researched what would happen if a nuke piledrove yellowstone, or toba or even versuvius. Would it trigger an eruption, retard an eruption, or have no effect?

OK, a little research gives us the following.

It would have absolutely no effect. On the volcano that is...the wildlife and campers at Ground Zero would be another matter. :) An average thunderstorm carries the energy equivalent btw, to a 100 megaton hydrogen bomb. Humankind's best efforts aren't even a footnote in comparison.

Fun fact: During World War 2, The Allies spent a considerable effort bombing Mt. Etna in order to try to trigger an eruption. It had no effect.

Just a note. The Fat Man, the larger bomb used in WW2, was just 22 kilotons. Not even half of one Megaton.

The largest bomb ever designed was the CZAR bomb of the soviet union, which was in fact 100 Megatons. They altered the design to be a little more environmentally friendly (yes even back then people knew 100 Megatons was stupid) and to the end of the nation argued with the U.S. over whether the resulting test was 50 Megatons or 57. Regardless it was large enough when detonated north of Russia to be seen in the southern tip of Norway.

Tsar (Czar) bomb

Hey! She's technically working. She's also trying to get lucky with her host while avoiding getting lucky with Cthugha. That and beating nightgaunts to death with a crowbar (or as she calls it, her unspeakable Bar thing).
