YES to Baba Yaga and Stardust Spiders from Mars.

Do you think she was joking? Not that I doubt Paizo's ability to make an awesome fairy princess AP, but... they already did. The fairy princess in question was an evil loon, but still.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too. Evil fey... hold on, Court of Ether?

Silver Crusade

Haven't they already done an evil fairy princess? I'm sure I can recall wiping out my party with her.

I'm fairly certain Lisa was joking...

WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!

It was a joke I made at one of the seminars where people were talking about the campaign setting. I can't even remember what prompted it, but somebody mentioned fairy princesses and I quipped in a mock shocked voice that the GenCon AP was fairy princesses. I guess somebody heard me. :)

-Lisa

Btw, the next AP after Reign of Winter is about away from fairy princesses as you can possibly get...

Darn, I thought Paizo could make something interesting out of Fairy Princesses.

At least we get to go to Triaxus.

Ah, so it's a Galt AP, then...

Triaxus? Unexpected and awesome. Plus we'll be learning more about those hairless dragonrider folk and whatnot. Wonder if the possibility of PCs bonding with dragonkin is going come up.

Y'know....one of the major roads for the Mendevian Crusades cuts right through Numeria...

Which makes it even harder and you're gonna be broke by the time you leave! I love how the Black Sovereign took it upon himself to place a decadent little place near the end of the trail so the crusaders can spend all their coins and he will profit from it.

I was really hoping this would be the fabled Numeria AP since we keep getting a taste of Numeria but never the full cake.

The Evil AP? I guess we'll find out in August.

I think Numeria is about as far as you can get from a fairy princess AP.

I don't know, mutant fairy princesses on robot pirate island sounds like fun.

Liberty's Edge

From what we've been hearing I'm guessing it is neither Numeria or Mendev.

Maybe Osirion or Darkmoon Vale?

Sounds great... Can't wait to hear more.
I like that it's not 'all Irrisen all the time',
Taldor/Iobaria/PlanetStuff sounds awesome...

next AP: Evil Faery Grandmothers in a 1st to 20th level epic contest to out-do each other at Craft: Socks.
Coincidentally an opportunity to 'fix the crafting system' AND epic rules (for craft skill only).

For Mikaze.

Silver Crusade

y ty!

So much moneys I would give for this thing.

I look forward to seeing this adventure path come out. I'd like to incorporate the events in these modules to coincide with my own version of the same thing.

Shameless plug: Would it be considered a decent opposition of Fairy Princess?

Perhaps now is a great time to catch up on reading Winter Witch.

No. James Jacobs said that Skull and Shackles was the closest Paizo was going to get to an evil AP.

So Galt or Numeria would be possible candidates for anti-fairy princesess AP. What else could count as anti-fairy princesess, I wonder?

Maybe after Reign of Winter, I'll finally get an AP that will satisfy my wargamer side. Kingmaker came close, but not close enough.

Constructs vs. axiomites. All logic, all the time.

An AP that involves russian folklore, space travel, and details on a casmaron country..........................please paizo....take my money...just take it...

also, an AP specifically the opposite of fairy princess...huh...I guess it's going to be a morally ambiguous and less light-hearted in theme? Like Carrion Crown was?...but that could be anywhere...Golarion is dark as pitch in a lot of places...even gnome settlements have their darker sides...

Dark Archive

I am extremely pleased to hear that Baba Yaga, Triaxus, and Irrisen will all be appearing in an upcoming AP.

For the one after it, Geb, perhaps? I could see Numeria or Mendev too, though some of the comments upthread make Mendev sound slightly less likely.

James did mention that a 1-20th ap would be even less likely than a geb ap. So I don't expect it anytime soon.

No.

James Jacobs said that Skull and Shackles was the closest Paizo had yet come to an evil AP.

It is unlikely we'll ever go closer than that, but we'll see.

Well...

Pathfinder isn't a wargame. So it's unlikely we'll ever really do something closer than Kingmaker... just so ya know.

And as for the Reign of Winter Adventure Path... that's pretty much Rob's project, so I won't be saying much about it yet...

But I do have a few things to point out.

It's not a "Winter is Coming" adventure path. It's more a "Winter is still here" adventure path!

Also... It's the Baba Yaga adventure path, NOT the Irrisen adventure path.

More details to come!

Liberty's Edge

I'll be honest, this one doesnt sound appealing to me. I am also disappointed you think a Mendev AP will be hard to do. Hopefully the gen con one will interest me more.

Mendev AP...

1. Fight demons
2. Fight demons
3. Fight some more demons
4. Oooh a demon dungeon crawl
5. Yay, new demon types
6. Demon Big Boss!

YAWN.

Now, now, I'd guess there would be some more possibilities to get more intimate to the machinations inside the church of Iomedea, but in general the ones pulling the strings would be

Spoiler:
demons.

That said, I liked the write-up Storasta for its alien feeling.

Kinda makes it easy to choose your upgrades on your weapons, eh? Bane: Evil Outsiders, Holy and maybe Bane: Chaotic Outsiders? ^^

Hmm... would you like some 'Axiomatic' on top of that?

You forgot about demon worshippers, demon-possessed monsters, demon-inhabited items. Oh, and some more demons.

Banes won't stack. Holy and axiomatic on the other hand... Checks the rules for them... Apparently do stack.

Does that imply that a Geb/Nex AP is also unlikely (though not as much as a 1-20 one)? Because that would really surprise me. I remember reading how Geb/Nex were Eric Mona's thing, and he at one point had plans for the Spire of Nex, so I figured an AP set there was not just likely, but inevitable.

Also, opposite of fairy princesses could mean... literally anything other than fairy princesses, depending on your perspective. I doubt it'll be Numeria yet (though I'd love if it were). That still leaves tons of underdeveloped countries yet to host an AP - Isger, Molthune, Nirmathas, Rahadoum, Thuvia, Druma, Five Kings Mountains, Galt, Qadira, and the afforementioned Geb/Nex, off the top of my head.

The damage bonus on Bane weapons would stack, the enhancement bonus on the other hand wouldn't.

Mendev has a lot more going on than the demons. The low templars conflict. Crusader/locals conflicts. It would be as demony as Second Darkness was Drowy.

Demons and devils are getting pretty overdone these days though. They've got that "old hat" feel to them now. While I'd love a Mendev/Worldwound AP simply because of the Crusades vibe that it would instill, I am getting tired of these same two old groups recurring. We've had decades where they've been traipsing around as big bads.

I applaud Paizo for stepping outside of these bounds and going with things that are a lot more creative and different! A Baba Yaga AP is just such a thing, and it's even more perfect that this very AP has been foreshadowed like crazy in the history of Golarion! Admittedly, I'm a little disappointed that the Vikings vs. Witches doesn't seem to play anywhere in this . . . but I'm willing to go on a little faith here. ;)

Yeah I am sick of demons and devils but I have been sick of them since 2nd edition. Thank you paizo for giving us Oni, Azura, Qlippoths, etc.
