Mystic Theurge & Channel Energy

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Hey Pathfinders!

So I have a question. I'm playing a Mystic Theurge at the moment, build upon a wizard3/cleric3, so I can Channel Energy. Now, as I level up as a MT, I know that it also increases my levels as a wizard and cleric when it comes to spells, I was simply wondering if my Channel Energy increased as well, or if that only increases as I take actual cleric levels akin to how I'll only get the wizard bonus feats when I take actual wizard levels.

Your Channel Energy only increases from Cleric levels. Ditto your Domain powers (though your Domain Spells should still kick in fine).

Right, thanks! :)

Happy to be of assistance. :)

The only thing you'd get form MT levels with a cleric/wizard build are spell slots for both divine and arcane casting and caster level. You also get divine spells known (as they're learned automatically). Everything else that is class dependent (specialization and domain slots, channel energy, familiar progression, wizard ability progression, wizard spells known) you don't get. You have to buy/find scrolls and inscribe them in your spellbook in order to increase your wizard spells known.

Think of it as a incentive to stay single-classed in such classes. Otherwise, who'd play a wizard for 20 levels?

um someone who'd want to cast 9th level spells? aside from that, a small correction, domain slot spells are a result of your lvl 1 domain ability that applies to every spell level you can cast.

Also specialization slots progress.

Wizard spells known *should* progress, IMO, but FAQ specifically states otherwise.

Adept Channel
Some orc adepts enjoy a greater connection to their gods, and can channel their faith through their unholy symbols. You gain the ability to channel energy as a cleric.

Prerequisites: Ability to cast divine spells, summon familiar class ability, caster level 4th, Charisma 13.
Benefit: You gain the channel energy class feature, as a cleric, usable 2 times per day. This ability otherwise functions like the cleric's channel energy ability, except that your effective cleric level is equal to your divine spellcasting class level –3. Unlike a cleric, however, the number of times per day you may channel energy is not affected by your Charisma modifier.

At seveth level take this feat.

3 levels in one class, 7 in the other, 10 Mystic Theurge gets you 9th level spells.

Eventually. : )
