Your suggestion for internet home page.

I've had Yahoo as my homepage since 1995. As you can see I'm not big on change but the quality of Yahoo has become indefensibly horrendous. Every article having some imbedded video or slideshow does not help get me information faster. Twitter feeds are not relevant sources of information to formulate whole articles about. I don't care who is outraged.

My computer absolutely hates Google so I cannot use that either.

What do you all use or suggest for a good browser home page? I'd prefer something newsy and not dumbed down for Kardashian crowd.

I used Protopage.com, myself. It is a fully customizable page/RSS reader, a la the old iGoogle page (which I loved). To see an example of what one looks like, my personalized protopage can be found here.

If you want some very interesting news/takes on news you might not see otherwise, I like Slashdot.

A lot of people seem to like Reddit as their homepage.

I use MetaFilter and a personalized Google News (which I assume you can't use).

I just use the paizo.com forums.

I use Facebook, and my feed is usually a pretty hearty mix of personal announcements/posts, trending news/politics, and kittens.

Freehold hates the nasty, tricksey Facebook.

I'm not sure how "newsy" you like, but I use Bing.com. Trending searches are listed at the bottom of the screen (they link to a Bing search of the topic, with an MSN news story as the first option).

Mainly, I enjoy the daily picture that's presented. Today, for instance, was a great pic of Gordes, France. Fully one-fourth of the pics presented I can adapt to some game-related purpose.

Irontruth, I visit that page often.

I use ixquick. It's just a simple secure and anonymous search engine.

Liberty's Edge

My homepage is simply the google search homepage: 99% of the time, when I connect to the internet, it's to research a topic.

Mine is the Google Advanced search page, because I am often either going to look for something online, or check my gmail.

I started using protopage this weekend. Diggin it so far.

I use DuckDuckGo for my homepage, which seems to be just as good as Google, save for not having image and video searches (that I've found so far).

I'm a big fan of about:blank. Nothing loads faster! (Not much for news, though.)

The only reason I know about DuckDuckGo is that it searches the onion web and also doesn't record trackbacks or require cookies.

All the ne'er-do-wells on the deep web use it.

News Flash: I'm still really happy with Protopage.
